The Tasting Kitchen
The menu changes daily and exemplifies our scratch kitchen philosophy, with pastas made by hand daily, meats cured
in-house, produce from the local farmers' market, and everything made and sold the same day.
We offer handcrafted neo-classical food, epic design and atmosphere, and service that is both a guide and companion throughout the experience. Come, ask questions, and enjoy
We thought the seating hostess and manager were rude when they let our table go from our reservation when half of our group were on time and they refused to seat us when our baby caused our kids unavoidable delays. The short rib hash and sticky roll were good. Probably will not go back because of how we were treated . Others who came in behind us were seated with an incomplete party.
Last 3 times we have been there:
Food quality is poor
Expensive for price
Service: very very slow
Terrible wait between dishes
Hostess was beyond rude: told our table next time not to get up and move to new table. We were scolded as it adolescents.
So disappointed. Used to be a go to place. Food is now poor, nothing wow, expensive, slow, rude
Great food. A bit overpriced. Service was good, but not great.
Good food. Small portions and expensive for what it is.
$36 for a tiny squab served a la carte is crazy.
$14 for a side dish of mostly lentils with four small rapini.
I'm down to spend on good food. I do it all the time.
The food here is good but not remarkable relative to the price.
My son claimed that this was the best food he had ever eaten in his life. My family of 4 had the 3-course tasting menu and it exceeded my expectations.
Thought it was over priced. The food was good, not great. The portions were ridiculously small.
Excellent food and it’s one of our favorite places in Venice
Celebrated friends who recently eloped over brunch. Excellent service, amazing food and great ambience.
If you’re down to drop some sei
I felt like the wine list was lacking in detail. We didn't really like either bottle and at that price they should be described more clearly. I'm not sure if the guy brought over to help us was a sommolier but he failed to mention how dry the wines were that he recommended.
Outstanding in every aspect! From drinks to dessert we were blown away. We will return when in the area.
What an incredible place! The food and drinks ae phenomenal! A must try place.
The server didn't explain the menu to us at all. The menu was very limited and they were out of a couple of items on this limited menu.
Server was incredible. Burgers always amazing. Ditto on fries & bread.
Great brunch!! Was lucky enough to get a reservation that morning for a noon brunch. Loved everything about it. I had the biscuits and gravy, which was delicious and not too much. I didn’t leave feeling like I had a gut bomb as that dish can usually do. My friend had the baked eggs, which looked delicious. We also sat through 2 bottles of wine, which was great and priced very reasonably. Will be back!!
Our server Alex was attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant. It was INCREDIBLY noisy, which really dampened our dining experience. The entrees were pricey and the wine list was exorbitant.
The tasting kitchen is great for every occasion!
Accommodated us with bench seating for our kids. Food came out quickly. Very good entrees. Friendly fast service.
Entire party needs to be present for seating.
So happy we picked this place for brunch! We were two people and we ordered a sticky bun to share (unreal), the chicken and waffles, and the croque madame. Everything was really tasty, the vibe of the restaurant was really cool, and our server was very attentive. 100% recommend, but make reservations! We were one of the first brunch reservations on a Sunday morning and were seated immediately, but it really filled up no more than twenty minutes later.
It was really loud. We couldn’t hear each other.
Service was super forgetful and slow. Friendly but... not so great.
Food was very good but the experience overall was mediocre.
We’ve lived in Venice for decades but rarely came here largely because the menu was pretty rich. this time we were kinda burnt out on our other local haunts (I know, so spoiled!) so it was to TK for wifey’s bday we went. They gave us a lovely street window table and all the while we were truly loving the Calamari (best ever), Branzino (very tasty with a hint of lavender), roasted cauliflower (highly recommend), lentils (pretty darn good for lentils) - all with their very refined and special flavors. They were all very much a part of a whole and that’s really Tasting Kitchen’s expertise - special flavors all woven together into a beautiful meal that’s neither too heavy or too light, very fresh yet seriously cooked (there’s not much here that’s raw), and usually In it’s “whole” state - not all mixed and refined like french food. I guess that’s a more pure farm to table ‘way’ than the more laborious (and great) recipes of my now second fave, Gjelina. Perfect winter meal imo.
Add to that very friendly and generous service, very tasty cocktails, and a baba al rum that, according to my tastebuds and my quebequouis wife, was the best we’d ever had.
It’s a tad pricey IMO ($46 for one little Branzino?!) so that keeps the crowd down a bit. I for one am going back but sadly not for daily meals.
Great good, not too loud.
I've eaten at The Tasting Kitchen several times over the years and despite having a reservation, I have always had to wait. Fortunately, it has often been worthwhile, as I have enjoyed the food and ambiance. However, this time, I was made to wait 30 minutes for a table, and once seated, we were informed that all but one of the entrees were not available, so our choice and experiences was significantly compromised. We would have appreciated if the hostess would have informed us of this when we checked in to give us the option to wait or leave.
I was disappointed that more than 1/2 the items on the menu were not available which was poor planning since it was prez day weekend & Sunday brunch. We waited more than half an hour to be served as according to the wait person the chef "was having problems ". The waiting person was most apologetic & gave us a free glass of wine, but even so not very professional!
Food was average. It came out lukewarm and soggy. Coffee was warm, not hot. And they ran out of the 2 most popular items, on a Sunday (which you would expect they'd be prepared for). I think it could be good but they are busy and quality control has suffered. We were also seated 20 minutes later than our reservation.
Food orders came out cold, and timing was such that we ate nearly all at separate times. 1 order completely forgotten. Fried Clucks were over cooked and difficult to eat. Last time for us at this restaurant!
Very good. Did notice chef handling meat with his bare hands. Didn’t love that.
We enjoyed The Tasting Kitchen. Food was very good, but not exceptional. Service was solid and pacing of meal courses was brisk, but not rushed. We would definitely go back at some point in time.
Brunch was amazing!! I highly recommend this restaurant
Delicious food and excellent service. The wine list could be better; very few good bottles at reasonable prices. But all in all, a wonderful place for dinner.
It was very cold in the restaurant, as we were seated close to the door
the host is really not friendly at all, rude and disrespectuful. He was one of the best hosting service I've ever seen in my life.
Loud with slow service, but good is incredible. Expensive for a friend date, but still fun and enjoyable. Will go back, probably just for drinks or a date night.
I expected a better experience. There was too much food, so we got full before the end; of course we should have suspected that the 5 course tasting menu was too much, but we were told it was small plates. They brought two fish and two beef plates for just the four of us, although the other servings had been just one plate of each (plenty). Then they only brought 3 profiteroles for dessert and more or less said "too bad for you" when we asked why there wasn't one for each of the four of us. The food was not nicely plated, which I would have also expected.
The "salad", which was just a head of lettuce with lemon, was inedible.
I might go back, but I would not have the tasting menu again.
We loved the 3 course tasting menu. Big portions which is great here in LA.
Brunch is best.
Such a great way to experience this restaurant, before they've turned up the volume on the speakers at night. Brunch selections are great, though not too "healthy" i did have a beautiful radicchio salad and scrambled eggs. Heavier options include short rib hash, waffles, fried chicken. I miss the vegetable quiche they used to serve. The roasted beet salad with roasted ceci was off the charts delicious.
The service was great. They were on top of it. It’s a must
So disappointed in the selection of food. Requested a dish and the server talked me into another dish that was more expensive and not fast at all. No vegan option. Salad options terrible. Radicchio? Really? The most better metric. Not greens to choose from Lentils too sweet and spices odd for the dishes. So disappointed.
The couple next to me had a 4 month old baby that was screaming every 30 seconds the entire meal. Neither the waiter nor manager every acknowledged that this was an unfortunate situation for the other guests. I sympathize with the couple and their baby but also felt that the restaurant should of ask if we wanted to move tables or offer something small compliments of the house. I was not looking for a freebie just something to show that they knew the other patrons were being inconvenienced. The rigatoni I ordered was not hot but I didn’t send back because I was tired of the screaming baby. I would rate my experience below average. Probably just a bad day for them because they do have good reviews.
Just not good anymore. Don’t think we’ll bother coming back.
