The Tasting Kitchen
The menu changes daily and exemplifies our scratch kitchen philosophy, with pastas made by hand daily, meats cured
in-house, produce from the local farmers' market, and everything made and sold the same day.
We offer handcrafted neo-classical food, epic design and atmosphere, and service that is both a guide and companion throughout the experience. Come, ask questions, and enjoy
brunch Saturday - Sunday: 10:30am - 2:30pm
Very over rated. It was a great place 5 or 6 years ago when these types of restaurants were not existing everywhere.
Our server, Amy was amazing. She gave great recommendations!!
Very good. Loved the pasta!
The food was innovative and very good, though the 3 courses didn’t go together well. The service was exceptionally great. But the restaurant was very hot on the second floor. I don’t think there was air conditioning and we were uncomfortable the entire time. Also the price was very high relative to the quality of the food and the uncomfortable environment.
Very enjoyable brunch. We did the brunch tasting and every dish that came out was great. The waffles were amazing. Cocktails are incredibly over priced and I was somewhat underwhelmed at my $16 drink. Be prepared for it to be very expensive with high quality food.
The tasting kitchen was really delicious and a fun experience. We did have to wait around 20-30 minutes even though we had reservations. The cheese plate and bread were both delicious. We did the tasting menu for 3 people and it was a TON of food. All very good. Would highly recommend the steak, farro and cucumber dish, and both desserts we had were amazing (bread pudding and some kind of custard)
I definitely want to go back!
This is one of our neighborhood gems. Each time we return, we are surprised at the quality of the dishes, just superb! We tend to get the 3 course tasting menu, the chef always takes care of your meal, and each table gets a certain version of it, it is not all the same, the waiter asks about allergies, etc. This time, first course was grilled artisan bread, prosciutto plate, burrata with amazing celery sauce/cream, grilled octopus with spicy mayo sauce and fingerling potatoes, second course, grilled steak, poached salmon, pasta with lamb bolognese, and third, a most amazingly light, fluffy strawberry parfait that was just perfect! The entire staff is knowledgeable about wine and offer to help you select wine perfect for your meal. We had another memorable meal and will return!
GAVE IT SUCH LOW SCORING BECAUSE WE WERE RESERVED FOR BRUNCH & THE MENU CHANGED DRASTICALLY & DID NOT LOOK APPETIZING. THERE WAS NOTHING TO CHOOSE FOR OUR SON. WE WERE NOT THE ONLY ONE'S WHO THOUGHT SO, THE RUDE CUSTOMERS THAT STEPPED AHEAD OF US , WALKED OUT AS WELL AND EXPECTED THE SAME MENU WE DID AND ONCE SAW IT WAS DIFFERENT LEFT. WE ATE A FEW DOORS DOWN AT LEMONADE WHICH WAS AWWWWWWEEEESSSSOOOMMMMEEEE... I REALLY DID WANT TO EAT HERE BEING WE WERE CELEBRATING A BIRTHDAY :-(
Absolutely exceptional restaurant. Every dish was incredible (holy cow, the Bucatini was something to behold). We had a party that ran the gamut from SoCal gluten free snobs to my mom who is a veggie, and everyone found something to love. And, to top it all off, the wine was out of this world. We will be back on our next trip down from SF.
some of the best food in LA. hands down
Amazing place, will come back soon again, thank you so much !
Our server explained the tasting options in such an appealing way that we couldn’t resist. We are so glad we didn’t resist. It turned out to be a feast in which each course - each of them having multiple dishes - seemed to outdo the previous (excellent) course. We can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. A fun place with exciting food.
We’re glad we took our waiters advice and ordered the chefs 3 course tasting menu. It was almost more than we could eat but couldn’t help ourselves. Everything was delicious and the service was outstanding!
Great food. A bit expensive but worth it for special occasions.
Celebrating a biz win
I would probably would go back for dinner, not brunch.
I’ve been here several times now. The food is inventive, beautiful, and delish. Every member of the staff is friendly and helpful. A bit noisy for my taste, but I would never pass up a chance to eat here.
It was my friend's birthday. They surprised us by turning the sticky bun into a mini birthday cake by adding a candle. :)
Also my other friend was on crutches because she had a broken ankle. They were very kind to her and tried to help when we were being seated.
Came to celebrate a birthday. The service was terrible! Portions are extremely small and not a good value. They did not offer a dessert for a birthday so why Do they ask if you’re celebrating. The drinks are great and the best part of the evening. We all felt that while the food was OK it was not Five star especially not for what they charge.
Food was great but the service was average and slow. It took almost an hour for our food to come out. I was a bit disappointed by the service given how pricey it is.
Great food horrible service
love this place and the food is delicious! The outside patio is so cute and the service was very good as well! Overall no complains.
The people who work there really make this place. The bartenders know what they are doing and make the most delicious drinks! I am obsessed with their bread and butter because why not?
Good food. Some dishes more creative than others. Pretty reliable upper end restaurant.
Food was good, waiter was very helpful with food suggestions, and very attentive. But overpriced
Worst waiter. Made overall experience terrible.
YET ANOTHER OFF NIGHT.
It's a shame that this place can no longer be counted on for a great dining experience. The food is still pretty good, but over the past handful of visits we've seen things slip. This time, for example: two of four entrees came out luke-warm, and one side-dish never materialized at all; their famous bread was just not up to snuff; and our server -- though friendly and pleasant -- simply wasn't on top of the situation. (Granted, she comped one of the entrees -- but the goal was to have an enjoyable plate of pasta, not a free one.) It might explain why reservations are now much easier to come by. But I'm not sure how much longer we'll bother.
The waiter was nasty!!!
Great food, very cool atmosphere! Had to change our reservation time slightly and the hostess was really nice about it.Took a friend from out of town, she was very impressed. Would go back again for brunch!
Simply and utterly Divine. I’ve never had a lox plate that good before. I must go back
Awesome as always and a perfect Mother's Day experience. The bread is some of the best in the city and the breakfast burger with eggs and and bacon and BLT Breakfast Sandwiche was phenomenal
Excellent dining as always. Unique rotating menu with a great wine list. One of my favorites on Abbott Kinney. Highly recommend!
My husband and I had an amazing experience at this restaurant. The pasta was homemade fresh and they had a fabulous selection of wine. Our waiter was extremely attentive and provided us great recommendations for our meals and dessert. Whenever we are back in Venice we will definitely be going back!
Great flavors and the food was cooked perfectly, not over cooked. High energy atmosphere, but it is loud so don’t count on being able to have intimate conversation when it’s busy.
Service was fine. Food was mediocre. The host wasn’t the warmest person. Probably not a great first impression to have the first person you see as kind of cold.
Great food, very knowledgable staff. Delicious and homemade pasta- small bites to share. Homemade bread and butter is to die for.
Way overpriced - poor value. Slow service, small portions
Food was much better than the service. The noise level is very loud. Fun to try but for the money not sure I would go back.
Great service. Enjoyed the dinner. Food was delicious. Only complaint is our branzino we ate had to many bones still in it.
