I have been going to Taste of Tea since they opened. They, the owners and servers are kind and gentle and extremely well informed. We are so lucky to have them in healdsburg. They work constantly to improve everything they touch. We are lucky enough to go all the time. Don’t miss out❤️
Fresh authentic food
We ate here yesterday and we absolutely loved it. The tea menu is really good. We had three of the teas they offered and they were really lovely. The food was great too. We sat outside as we had our little dog with us but I was able to see the inside was really cute. The service was great. Food maybe a tad overpriced but we really enjoyed what we ate.
Great service, generous portions, delicious food. Salad was farm fresh produce, dressing delicious. Love the sake cocktails although mine wasn't as cold as I might've preferred. I would say the only room for improvement would be more comfortable seating would be nice. But that, in a way, is part of its charm.
Wonderful meal, experience and discovery for us. We enjoyed a change from usual wine country meals. Ramen and obento and a refreshing matcha tea hit the spot after an afternoon of wine tasting! We’ve already shared with friends and I look forward to returning to try afternoon teas! Domo arigato gozaimashita for the warm service and wonderful dining experience!
This restaurant is the best non-sushi Japanese restaurant in North Bay. The food is authentic. The teas, beer, and sake are fabulous. I love coming here. We bring our friends when they come up to visit us.
The servers are always friendly and efficient. I have never had an experience with an unhappy server. They are always upbeat and helpful.
We love it.
Fun restaurant. The service was great - the whole staff helps out. We loved the dishes we had and the flight of sake was fun to try. We would defiantly come back when in the area.
Food was good but not hot. I ordered a ramen dish with great flavor but was served cold-it was supposed to be hot. I will go back but for lunch. We brought a bottle of wine as they only serve beer and saki. Food is good and has good flavor but we found our dishes served cool not hot
Small, casual, delightfully old-fashioned, home-style Japanese cooking. I grew up with this kind of food and was absolutely thrilled to find it again. The sugar level here is about half or less of what is used at virtually all other Japanese restaurants in the U.S. We tasted much of the menu, and tried two different teas with our meal. It was amazing how differently each tea reacted with the food. Such a pleasure to have tea made and served properly, too! NOTE that this restaurant closes early, so don't try to come in any later than 7:30p - the kitchen shuts down although diners can stay around and leisurely finish their dinner. We loved Taste of Tea and will be back!
Relaxing place to eat - excellent service. The food was okay and the price was good for a city like Healdsburg. I may be tainted because I am use to traditional Japanese cuisine in out of the way hole in the wall places. I would go back if someone wanted to go there, but it would not be my first choice.
Fantastic dinner and service. Highly recommend.
This restaurant is the most authentic Japanese. They don't serve sushi or full sashimi dishes but it's alright for me. Their ramen are like the way I know it and how I've tasted in Japan. I love their Bento with Unagi. Chef Nez creates food like he grew up with and I can relate. He uses fresh ingredients and he creates new dishes. Normally, you don't see specialty dishes in restaurants in the U.S. but you might find it here if it's in season. He also uses very good Japanese rice. You can tell the difference. I can't stop raving about this place. We always go back and I always end up with green tea ice cream sundae. It reminds me of Japan.
Excellent service. Very extensive tea selection and waitperson was very helpful guiding us to a perfect choice. Food was lovely. Comfortable atmosphere which allowed conversation.
Incredibly Tasty Ramen Bowls! Perfect size to share. I highly recommend the Red Sake Bomb.
I will return often. This is the second time I have brought guests here and all have really enjoyed it.
The food was delightful. We just returned from a 3 week trip to Japan and the food at Taste of Tea is absolutely authentic. Presentation is beautiful and the staff is lovely. A hidden gem.
The Taste of Tea is the best Japanese restaurant in our area. The food is authentic.Chef Nez keeps it that way. Nothing Asian Fusion-like. It's how my mother used to make and she was from Tokyo. My favorite dessert is the Green Tea Sundae. It reminds me of Japan's parfait. It's the "in" thing in Japan. I was happy to have the bento with UNAGI! It's extra but worth it. The service is always impeccable and friendly. I love going there. My favorite place in Healdsburg, Windsor, and Santa Rosa.
A real gem in Healdsburg. Simply exceptional, beautifully prepared, and non pretentious Japanese-style comfort food. The ramens, donabe, and soba dishes, and of course the tea are wonderful. One of our favorites for a satisfying and inexpensive meal.
The food here is always delicious. It’s very consistent and the staff is very professional.
As a local, I am lucky to be able to enjoy all the services at Taste of Tea, which are formidable. Tea, the food is beautifully balanced and healthy. My noodle dish wasn’t exactly to my liking so the chef and I talked about how I would like it better. And he did it! Really? How many places cater to diners at that level? I was treated to a tasting of fruit infused sake that was a revelation. Pure, clean, no cloying taste. And then the water tasting.... don’t poo-poo that until you experience it. The service, obviously, was gracious and generous. I left with feelings of well being.
Our dinner at Taste of Tea was a delight in every way. The servers were amazing and the food was perfect.
This is a place that is serving very clean and fresh Japanese ramen bowls and much more
the drinks are unique, and talented, I recommend the salmon, this is not your college ramen bowl
it's as if you are visiting this country, and you grabbed bar stool and had the best meal of your life,
A cold winter night lunch, gifted staff,
Very attentive staff, very interesting foods focused on healthy and a unique place for sure. We ended up doing one of the treatments of restorative quiet with crystals and teas In a room they have for meditation and healing
This is the best true Japanese restaurant. They don't serve sushi but their menu is fabulous. It's not fancy but unique. I love their ramen. It's what I remember it in Japan and at ramen shops in LA. I love their Green Tea Matcha Sundae. It reminds me of the parfait I had in Japan. The service is perfect and friendly. Chef Nez creates food like I know it.
The name of this restaurant is completely misleading!!! This is a whole lot of wonderful food!!!! This restaurant is a complete hidden Healdsburg gem and definitely a favorite of ours!!! Their Ramen is amazing, the service excellent and the wait staff welcoming and soooo helpful! There is indoor and outdoor seating and the whole experience is wonderful!
We held a mini-reunion of my immediate family. It was difficult to plan the exact time for all whom I hoped would attend. They were very accommodating in adjusting the time and number of attendees. Everyone was pleased with and inspired by the food. The setting is attractive and the service was great.
We will definitely return in the future and recommend the Taste of Tea to others.

We had high expectations for this place given all the good reviews. Service and staff were very nice but unfortunately the food was not great. We found hair in our food. Noodles were over cooked and mushy. Chirashi sushi only had a few pieces of tuna as the main fish. Otherwise it was filled with “filler” like jellyfish and unagi. The prices were also outrageous for what you get. $23 for a bowl of ramen?!
one little suggestion, when the server is describing the dishes, please slow down a little bit. we know you KNOW what you are saying, but sometimes it sounds a bit "rote" and we might like to ask a question or clarification! thanks,
Lovely atmosphere with great service and exciting & delicious food!
We loved our experience at taste of tea. Cuisine and service both excellent !
Excellent lunch, staff very attentive and made great recommendations on menu selections.
The service very nice and friendly. The tea was okay, a little on the weak side. The Sake tasting was great. The pork gyozas were delicious, we ended up ordering another one. The cold soba was not very good; overcooked noodle with raw vegetables, and uninteresting sauce.
Taste of Tea has a very fresh and flavorful menu. The husband and wife team pay great attention to detail, making sure the whole experience is outstanding. I must return for the green tea foot soak sometime!
The staff was very knowledgeable in the food and tea. Had a Matcha latte - very good. Purchased a bag of Matcha tea made in Japan. Pork ramen bowl with noodles very filling. Could not finish.
Food is delicious. Customer service is so comforting. The place itself, lovely. All in all a perfect comfy place for lunch or dinner.
Food was just ok. The chirashi was only tuna and shrimp. The service was very nice though.
It was an Awesome place! I can’t wait to take my daughters and granddaughters there💞
The food is amazing and the tea, what can I say Wow there is none to compare Incredible!
I had high expectations....this was an average lunch....nice presentations but not too much flavor...The yaki udon noodle was tasty...the Buta Don meat was somewhat over cooked and needed flavoring..The chirashi had a nice presentation and the Tuna was freash and flavorful...overall it was ok.
One of the more under rated dining establishment in HBG. Authentic Japanese food and carefully curated sake and Japanese craft brew list. Dishes are beautifully presented and service is attentive. The chirashi is particularly good. Owners make frequent trips to Japan to meet with sake makers and brewers and refresh ideas for the menu. Perfect for a dinner after a day in the wineries.
Lovely, creative food was enjoyed by our party of four. Wait staff, as well as owner, extremely attentive.
