The Sword Inn Hand is a 14th Century Free House with guest rooms nestled in the beautiful rural Hertfordshire village of Westmill, a mile south of the market town of Buntingford. With bar, dining room, mature landscaped gardens and charming country inspired guest rooms, it is the perfect countryside retreat for drinking, dining and relaxing. Seasonal produce is delivered to us daily by our fantastic local suppliers, and we pride ourselves on serving delicious fine food and traditional ales. Our friendly yet professional customer service and warm, relaxing atmosphere inspires our lovely customers to return week after week, and welcomes new visitors from far and wide. Sat in area with three tables and one table was quite noisy. Outside looks inviting if weather is okay.

As always a lovely relaxing meal. Staff were amazing especially as it was hot. Attentive good humour and efficient. Food was excellent and dietary requirements were listened to. Everything just perfect. Will definitely be back. Thank you.

We all travelled a long way to meet up as a family and the journey was well worth it. Lovely setting, delicious food and very helpful staff

We had an early evening slot at the Sword Inn Hand on Saturday evening, to celebrate my son’s birthday and we all had a great time! The service was fab - really friendly and competent waiting staff and superb food across the board! The ambience in the pub was perfect, busy, but not too noisy at all. The staff even took my shop bought birthday cake into the kitchen, and came back, complete with lit candle, plenty of plates, forks and napkins and they even sang Happy Birthday too! My 32 year old son relished the fuss!

We were offered a table of our choice on the patio instead of the table in the bar area which was very nice as it was early evening after a very hot day. The gazebo provided a nice dapple shade from the leafy wisteria overhead and the cushioned seats were comfortable. Service was top class and I was recommended a very nice 0.5% bottled lager which was really refreshing. I had the Korean inspired chicken schnitzel and my wife had her favourite sea bass. Both dishes were excellent. I did have to go and ask for the dessert menu but that’s no big deal for me as the serving staff were all very busy.
