An award-winning village pub, The Swan sits at the heart of the picture-perfect village of Southrop. Part of Thyme, an historic Cotswold estate, the menus celebrate the ingredients and flavours of the farm and kitchen garden, as well as using ingredients carefully sourced from local suppliers.

Locally distinct brews, wines and non-alcoholic drinks lead to an interesting drinks menu, with wines available by the glass. Our seasonal table menu ensures a country pub feel which has a good choice of simple, rustic dishes as well as your pub classic dishes.

Just a short stroll from Thyme, The Swan sits at the heart of the village of Southrop adjacent to the green. The Swan is characterised by low-slung ceilings, roaring fires and a spacious garden room. The higgledy-piggledy wooden furniture combined with bright stripes and Bertioli fabrics make the perfect setting for cosy feasting and simple merry-making.

    We were very disappointed with our meal at the Swan as it had been recommended to us. The food was not very good, both the beef and pork were very fatty and the vegetables were mainly half a cabbage. Desert was no better. The waitress was very friendly and we were not kept waiting but sadly we would not recommend .

    Undoubtedly a magical place with just the right alchemy of good food, professional service and sense of self. We enjoyed just “being there”, mixing with a wedding party, Morris dancers and some lovely dogs, all while the village fete was unfolding.

    We LOVED the Ox Barn.Every detail was just perfect…..flowers, decor, service, menu and dinner. Our experience of dining at a perfectly set table, (candles burning, a lovely fresh flower arrangement to enjoy) and served by an excellent, friendly and helpful wait staff (James, Dan and Nick has rarely been surpassed!

    Following a disappointing experience across the road I’m pleased to report that The Swan put on a stellar performance. It’s “pubby” in ambience, cosy and friendly but the food was excellent and interesting. We had a lovely evening and felt welcome. I’m tall and the chairs are not so next time I’ll bring a cushion.

    The Sunday lunch at the swan was delicious. The service could’ve been better. We had to chase a starter, shortly after it arrived another of the same starter arrived. When our main turned up, the waitress questioned what we’d ordered when we’d told her the order was wrong. It turned out she’d read the order wrong. When we’d finished our meal and said we didn’t want desserts we were rushed to get the bill before we’d finished our newly ordered drinks. They weren’t waiting for the table as we were the only table in the area we were seated in. Just felt a very rushed and unorganised experience.

    I ordered a steak and it came overcooked. When I questioned this it was taken away and exactly the same one came back having nothing done or changed on it!! The steak came first then a ten minute wait for all other food from the order came. They can't excuse it because I sent some thing back. The manager came and asked what the problem was and then argued with me over it!!!
