   Went here for mothers day meal and I must say we all had a great time. The food was cooked well and the interior of the restaurant is fantastic. Friendly helpful service too!

   Very long wait between courses and food was very poor. Had to complain to management. Give it a miss until management can hire experienced kitchen staff

   We arrived on time only to be told due to kitchen problem the whole Sunday menu was unavailable.So at very short notice my disabled wife and I had to fined alternative eating.As this was an online booking we think the management could e mailed us of this situation and at the very least given us an apology.Very poor service.    The booking was fine except we asked for a quiet table as we are both head of hearing and it was our anniversary. We were seated with two large parties and so had trouble hearing each other. Not very romantic either. The service was good and very friendly. The food was very nice except we had only just put the last mouthful of our starters in our mouths and the mains arrived! Some of the food was a little cold. The wine was lovely and we were able to have a free bottle by choosing food from the weekend treat menu. Just love their mini puds with a coffee!

   As you can see I booked a table online! However the female behind the bar couldn't find my booking and was quite rude

   Valentine's set dinner menu was excellent with good choice of courses. We were in a quiet part of the restaurant on the mezzanine floor with the only downsides being quite chilly as it was feeling the benefit of the cold air from the front door and it could have had more lighting as some tables were in the dark. The staff were excellent and very attentive so that added to the meals being served promptly made the evening a good choice. We have been to The Swallows Return on a number of occasions so this visit was a success. In the past we have found service to be slow maybe because of choosing from the a la carte menu vs the set menu choices.

   Unfortunately the reservation by Opentable wasn’t received but luckily there was one table left given several parties and festive diners!!!!! There seems to be an ongoing communication problem and we were asked to forward on our e-mail reservation to the Swallows from Opentable. Given we had travelled by taxi we almost had a disastrous evening!!!!!!!!!

   Unfortunately we booked through yourselves, arrived and no table was booked. We believe you have sorted this out, as we would not want to book a table for six and it was not available, fortunately they were able to accommodate for two! Food was good, BUT STILL NOT HOT WHEN ARRIVED AT TABLE. This is our one and only complaint, needs hot plates as well.

   I had booked a meal for my elderly Uncle & cousin & myself, we arrived in plenty of time, finally got a table even though we had booked a table, we were seated and given menus, before we could take half a breath we were asked for our drinks order, so we ordered wines, finally ordered our meals and were told 10 minutes later that 2 meals were not available and should not have been on the menu!! So sadly ended up with Fish & Chips! Not my idea of fine cuisine, sadly there nothing else on the menu Uncle & I fancied. I personally think it was rather expensive for fish & chips, the third meal was told to me to be okay, we were hoping for cackling to be on the menu but No! Needless to say, we were rather disappointed all round. Will probably stick witht the HIghdown from now on.

    I'm arrival the manager said our booking was not on his system. The customer next to me had the same issue but he had booked direct with Vintage inns. However, he quickly managed to find us a table for 6, and the other customer too so we were relieved! Food was fairly good and plentiful, roast dinner for 6 people, with 2 rounds of drinks, 2 starters and 2 desserts, totalled £130. Service was reasonably quick and efficient with extra gravy being brought on request.
