Sat at favorite table, servers were awesome food was spot on! Loved the Kalua taco meat was moist and smoky flavored, Mac and cheese is my indulge and as always the ribs our favorite item on menu was finger licking good and lucky us tonight the tataki serving was larger serving loved it!!!
Food was really good. Only downside was the music was too loud. Really cute place. Check out the picture of very young Clint Eastwood in the women’s restroom. Wow!
Best tacos I've ever eaten. Pork was unbelievable. Shrimp and fish were delicious. I will definitely return. And soon.
Food was good! Especially the truffle fries and eggs Benedict. Service was fast and the staff was welcoming and vibrant. The bread pudding with ice cream was so good too! Making this our monthly girls day brunch spot!
This is a neighborhood gem for certain! Incredibly satisfying & deliscious! We'll be back, soon!
Great place to hang out with friends and coworkers. Not recommended for children. Everyone was super nice and had good suggestions for drinks and small bites. Noise level is pretty high.
We’re so glad that we took a chance and made the effort to find it. Although in a working class neighborhood, everything from the food and decor to the attentiveness, and friendliness was a great surprise! The porchetta salad is to die for! And don’t get me started about the chocolate chip bread pudding!
This dining experience was amazing. Food incredible, service was above and beyond, and this place was beyond cute. Will definitely visit again
Please update your website. I looked at the menu and wanted the Roasted Beet Salad.
I ended up with a different salad because it was taken off the menu. The salad I had was delicious!
Music was a little loud. Difficult to have a conversation. Great food and service.
This was my first time here for Brunch and we really enjoyed ourselves. Great staff! The bacon is fantastic. That said I think my dinner experience here was slightly better.
Good ambience, quality dishes. A bit pricey so MN if you're looking for applies and not meal size, try the surfing pig.
Food was great as well as everyone who worked there. Try their cocktails if you get a chance!
The Surfing Pig is not to be missed. It's one of those "store front" eateries that you're either one who is willing to go by curiosity or go because you know what you want! The menu is small which is a plus because everything is terrific and no multiple pages of confusion.
Was a great place to grab a cocktail. We got there around 930 and it had a good crowd. Seated and helped quickly. Food was excellent as was the cocktail pairings recommended. We had the Mac and cheese, Flatbread pizza and the burger all of which was great. Overall a 5 out 5. A bit pricy but worth a look in Kaimuki!
Easy to find if you’re familiar with the Kaimuki area. Don’t walk too fast because you could pass by without even knowing it as we did. It’s a small, quaint restaurant and bar but they made good use of the space. The food was superb! Excellent! And the service was wonderful. Definitely coming back again!
Lunch service is a hidden gem in Kaimuki. Food was amazingly delicious. The Shrimp & Grits really hit the spot. The portion was large enough to take home (I got full fast!). The Old School Sandwich was perfectly cooked with excellent guava bbq sauce and the shoestring fries were cooked to perfection.
Food was good as usual. Only problem was it was hard to enjoy 100% as it was quite chilly this night.
Aloha Steve, Thank you so much for your 5-star review. It has gotten chilly lately, and like yourself, we want warm Hawaii weather again. Again, we appreciate your rating and hope to see you back soon. Mahalo, Greggor
The cocktails were excellent. A tad on the small side for the price but very good.
The service was exceptional. Really like the Surfing Pig and a great restaurant that I hope survives in the Kaimuki neighborhood.
The food was very good too.
Aloha Lani, Thank you for your thoughtful review. I'm so happy you enjoyed our cocktails and our exceptional service. We hope that you will come back soon and to have the opportunity to provide you a 5-star service in the near future. Mahalo, Greggor
The server initially said that almost anything on the menu could be made gluten-free. After we found out that they didn't have gluten-free buns, many things had soy sauce, and they didn't have a dedicated frier, there were only a few things I could eat. Personally, I found the pork to be too salty and the cheeseburger was tasty, but not remarkable. I realize other people do not have the allergy I have, but I'm giving the review based on my personal experience so I can't say I will return.
Aloha Michelle, We understand you have an allergic reaction to certain foods and we want to do our very best to accommodate you while you are dining with us at The Surfing Pig. Our Assistant General Manager is the best to guide you through our menu in regards to providing you better options because she has allergic reactions to different foods as well. Reservations is a must, ordered the small plates ribs, salad, and yummy fries... son had Mac Cheese and loved it. Food was slow to come out so don't be in a hurry if you dine here... overall great experience and would go agian to try other dishes.

We had a wonderful date night at The Surfing Pig. All the staff were welcoming and our server, Mike, made us feel like we were at a fine dining establishment but without any of the pretentiousness. The restaurant has a great vibe and is the definition of a great neighborhood hangout. The small plates were delicious and we wished we could have tried them all. We had the back ribs (cooked perfectly but I wasn't a fan of the rub), truffle fries, kampachi carpaccio, mushroom medly, and the seared ahi on sriracha fried rice. The dishes were mostly straight-forward with a few interesting flavor parings that added a twist to the dish. The best item of the night was the seared ahi entree on surprisingly good sriracha fried rice. The Surfing Pig is definitely worth a return visit!
Aloha Mike, So happy you chose The Surfing Pig to have your date night. Mike, as you well know, is one of our top servers. The Seared Ahi is the most recent addition to our menu. I'm glad to hear you found it to be the best dish during your night. I greatly appreciate you rating us 4-star and hope to have the opportunity to provide you a 5-star experience when you visit us again. Mahalo! Greggor
I was so excited to visit this restaurant with my date for Valentines. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t turn out to be what we hoped for. We felt discriminated against for one and probably most important reason. Portions that we were sold were so ridiculously small I just can’t believe it. The quality of the food was decent, but it took 40 minutes and some of our food never came.
The people next to us or apologize to profusely and offered items on the menu and drinks to compensate but nothing in our direction even though we have been there longer. The tables were uncomfortably close to each other, I know this is a hawaii... but Give me a break
Aloha Jay, Thank you for your valuable feedback. I would cherish the opportunity to speak with you about your experience. I sincerely apologize that this situation happened on Valentine's Day and hope to have the opportunity to fix it. Please contact me at your earliest convenience. You can reach me at (808) 557-8138. I look forward to hearing from you. Mahalo! Greggor Ilagan
Nice place, servers were attentive, food tasty, drinks great, only issue was drinks kinda pricey. Make it a bit more affordable or offer specials and I'll be back.
Great Valentines menu. Everything was delicious, including the new locations wine on the menu. Will definitely be back.

Folks were very friendly and welcoming. Food was delish but fries that came with burger were cold. Need more craft beer selections. Cocktail menu interesting. Will be back to try othe dishes and a few of those cocktails.
Aloha Thedocsin, Thank you for your four-star review. Yes, our hand-crafted cocktail is amazing. The Smoking Pig cocktail was featured in the Food Network. Next time, those fries will be warm with your burger. Hope to have you come back soon! Mahalo! Great Calamari, very good pork sliders, but Porchetta slider and the tacos and the french toast desert were just "meh". quite pedestrian.
Aloha Rich, Thank you so much for your valuable feedback. We will keep your feedback about the Porchetta Slider, Street Tacos, and the French Toast in deep consideration. I hope we will have the opportunity to provide you a five-star experience in the near future. Mahalo! Greggor (808) 744-1992
All our small plates dishes came out at the same time and got cold by the time we ate them. It would have been better to stagger them.
Aloha, Thank you so much for your valuable feedback. We will keep that in mind next time we have customers with a spread of small plates. I hope we will have the opportunity to provide you a five-star experience in the near future. Mahalo! Greggor (808) 744-1992
The attention by the staff was wonderful. They were all gracious and giving to us. We absolutely had a great time. Great food great service
But served lukewarm
Older gentleman surly (owner)?
Took a friend here for a birthday lunch, our 1st time at this restaurant. LOVED the food, the service was excellent. We were pleasantly surprised to get a (birthday) bread pudding at the end of our meal. That, too, was wonderful.
Third time here. Delicious food, friendly service, nice bartenders!
Glad we went. We both had sliders. Burger slider was really good; roasted pork slider was amazing! Other one disappointing. You should put more roasted pork dishes on menu - it’s your perfect food!
We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality and tastes of the food. We had several small plates that we shared including the porchetta salad, mushroom medley, Flatbread pizza, Smokey Mac 'n Cheese. We ordered a side of the Mac 'n cheese rather than the full small plate and, for the two of us with our other plates, that was plenty. The porchetta and the 12-hour smoked pork on the pizza was outstanding. And bourbon onions on the pizza! We will definitely order all of these items again. The only thing we ordered that didn't really match our tastes was the Beef Tataki. My husband didn't like that it was cold (as that was unexpected). One other negative is that we didn't learn until we got the bill that my husband's hot tea was $5? And it was just an ordinary tea bag, nothing special. Plus, he asked for a refill and they brought him a new bag so, yep, they charged him another $5. Lesson learned, don't order hot tea!
The air conditioning temperature was cold. We asked them to make it a little warmer. It was nice that they give a free dessert for birthdays but we had 2 friends celebrating and they had to share 1 dessert with 1 candle.
The porchetta was a little disappointing. It didn’t have any taste. It was a fried piece of pork belly with no taste. Could have used salt especially since it’s featured on so many dishes. It did have a nice crunch to it and looked good.
The ribs were very delicious and so tender. The mushroom medley and truffle fries were also very good.
They have only two dessert selections on the men and they are both very good. I can’t decide which one I like better.
The wine a waiter suggested was so on point to what I was looking for. It was a white slightly sweet wine. I wish I could remember the name.
I will definitely go back to the Surfing Pig and recommend it to others.
Would have given 5 stars but it was very cold. Sever was very nice but I didn’t get her name.
I felt the menu was lacking in variety and pork cuisine especially since the restaurant is called The Surfing Pig. Taste of food was okay - nothing to get excited about. I know they’ve been open only a year so hopefully the food will get better.
I always have a great time at the Surfing Pig with my friends. The food is tasty and the drinks are good. Mike provided great service, including good advice on the wine that would complement our food choices.
The location is convenient, and I can usually find parking in the back. I often bring friends who are visiting to this restaurant and it is a good place to meet for happy hour. My only issue is that it can be quite noisy there, especially if other tables are partying loudly. I think the management might be able to put in a little more acoustic dampening materials in the ceiling or on the walls to help with that.
The breakfast dishes were prepared to perfection! We will be returning soon!
