Outstanding views from both the terrace and dining room. Located at the Ventana Inn & Resort, our evening was special from beginning to end.
The service was impeccable, and the ambience was lovely. I had the NY strip, my husband had the pork chop, both cooked to perfection. Extensive wine list, staff can assist with perfect pairing. You will not be disappointed, and we plan to return.

This place is just AMAZING! We went there as we were driving down from Monterey to LA. Normally a restaurant that has a amazing views is not always the one that you are going to have amazing food, but Sur house breaks the rule by giving you amazing tasty and incredible food, with unique and amazing service, and on top of all of that the Panoramic View of the place is amazing. For me this is the kind of place that I will for sure come back.

I love this place. But, I ate there twice in a weekend and we had the same menu. I wish we had had different selections. I felt the menu was limited.

The outdoor dining deck is a "must do" for visitors to Big Sur. It's pricey, but where else (except Nepenthe) can you look 20 miles down the Big Sur coast on a clear day.
Visit this place at least once in your life...

Employee sitting guests refused when we asked to move to another free table which was not booked.
Server refused to change one drink which was ordered.
High price but no flexibility to arrange guests requests.

Lunch was very good, hearty general fare. Dinner was not . The food preparation was very beautiful but lacked substance. Anyone can cut a head of lettuce in half and add some dressing. The egg in a hole? Was a little piece of toast with a quail egg on a large plate. Very boring. The New York steak filled with fat and grizzle. How can you make a poached pear tasteless ?

Ventana has just finished an extensive remodel. WOW! There outdoor seating area is better than ever! The bar is awesome! The views are the same (incredible) but seem even better with the new design elements. We can't wait to go back...not only for the ambiance but for the delicious, creative food, the superb service and the wonderful feeling just being there. Great job Ventana!

We had a party of two and we both did the 4 courses for $90/each. The food was tasty but we did not feel that it lives up to the steep price. You’re definitely paying for the name.

Food was quite delightful and the ambiance was excellent. The views would likely be very nice on a clear day or a summer night, but it was mostly dark when we were there. But, the fires were very nice outside.

I think the price was a bit high (esp the drinks) , likely because it's located in Big Sur.
The parsnip soup seemed vegetarian, but apparently it has chicken stock in it (should probably be more obvious in the menu)
