Salvage Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
There were only two other tables in the area where we were seated for our anniversary dinner, and the server took FOREVER to check on us each time and to drop the check. She also failed to acknowledge our anniversary or ask us any questions about our order (i.e., what size steak or what kind of vodka for my martini). She was not at all personable. My husband's $45 steak was very fatty. And when the restaurant couldn't figure out how to run the MasterCard gift card we had, they called and accused us of stiffing them. All in all, I would not recommend this place to anyone.
We went to the Salvage for new years eve dinner and were pleasantly surprised to see it was not the same old Aurora Summit. The new owners are more in touch with what people are looking for in fine dinning in Denver. This restaurant was clean, smelled good and the lighting was well designed for dinning, not overly lit, but good enough to read the menu and see what you are eating. I had the prime rib, I eat prime rib 5 to 8 times a year, this was the best prime rib I have had at a restaurant in Denver in a long time and it was cooked the way I ordered it. The salad and the baked potato were excellent also, fresh jest like you make them at home. The wife had cheddar burger, (that's what she wanted for new years eve dinner), it was not on the menu for this evening, but when the new owner came by to ask how we were doing, the wife said she wanted a burger and the owner said she would have the cook make one. That does not happen in Denver these days at a classy place like this. I had to try it, this was a great burger made out of some kind of prime aged stake and over stuffed with the best cheddar cheese and grilled onions on top served with stake fries. I can't say enough about the quality of the food or the service. The timing of the service was perfect, nothing came to the table to late or to early. The water for the tea we had was always hot and the plates were cleared when we were finished with them. With the new owner, quality of food and service like this the Salvage is on our list of number one places to eat out.
The staff was very wonderful and the food was delicious. It was just what we were looking for as far as a quiet comfortable place we could sit down and have a yummy adult meal while also enjoying conversation with each other and being able to hear each other easily.
Don't be misled by my occasional 4 stars above, I'm sure this would rise to all 5 on any other day than Christmas. The place was PACKED as there weren't many good restaurants open on xmas day. So they were working very hard. It was just that they were working at absolute full capacity and were on the edge of their ability to do excellent service. Regardless, I gave a more than generous tip as I believed they were trying very hard. Also, it was Christmas so a little extra for the folks who were willing to come and work on that day was appropriate. Our server was a definite 9 out of 10 (Mary). The refresh on drinks was a bit slow but was always accomplished prior to running out of Iced Tea or whatever. Thanks to Salvage for seeing the need for a Quality restaurant opening on Christmas and to a cheerful Mary for taking pretty great care of us regardless of the busy day.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner and loved it so much we came back for a date night and also for Christmas dinner. The staff is excellent, owners are wonderful and the food has been great. It’s a bit pricey but worth it since there are no other steak houses in the area.
Salvage was wonderful! The steak was cooked to perfection and our starters were really great (we did escargot and French onion soup to share). We had one misstep with the kitchen, and when it was pointed out, the staff went out of their way to make it right. It has AWESOME owners that take pride in their business, so I would call it a wonderful experience and recommend it for date night!
We booked an early dinner and was not aware the dinning room does not open until later and had to be seated in the bar. Otherwise we would have made the reservation for later. Our server was great but also had to function as the bar tender as well. The food was awesome however, looks like there are staffing issues that need to be worked out.
We enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner at the Salvage. While my wife and daughter ordered off the regular menu, I had the special Thanksgiving dinner that was offered. All three meals were excellent, and the Thanksgiving dinner special was almost too much food to eat. The service was excellent, and the important thing was our family enjoyed the evening very much.
I made this reservation for me, my dad and my 11 year old daughter for Thanksgiving dinner. After realizing my sister would be able to join us, I called the restaurant to change the number of guests and was told that they wouldn't be able to change it unless we chose a different time to eat.. I ended up telling my sister that we couldn't change the reservation. When we got to the restaurant, the 3 of us were seated at a 4 top table... they could've changed the reservation. THEN... we order the traditional meal which was supposed to be $40-something for adults and $13 for kids under 12. The food was so-so, we never got our rolls. When the server gave us the bill, my dad grabbed it and paid it without me seeing it... come to find out, we were billed as 3 adults, paying over $30 more than we should've been billed... again, didn't know this until after the fact. At any rate, we won't be back...
We were very pleased with our Thanksgiving Day dinner. Our server (Eric) allowed us plenty of time to enjoy dinner and conversation, yet he was appropriately attentive. Plenty of food and everything on the menu was prepared properly and quite good; the kitchen did a great job. For a special occasion like Thanksgiving, we feel that Salvage provided a good value.
All of the restaurant staff were well-prepared for the day, and conducted themselves calmly and professionally. We are experienced diners, and appreciate that we were allowed to enjoy our dinner party and guests for 2+ hours.
This was our second visit to Salvage (first time was for lunch), and we will be dining there again.
Service was very good. Turkey and ham were very good. Only got one Brussel sprout, and dressing was awful, way too gooey. Salad was good. Wine was his but easy Rio pricey for a simple Mosca to. Probably won't go there for Thanksgiving dinner again. Will try there streak sometime.
Food was OK - had to send steaks back for more grilling. Need to real specific about how you want your steak prepared. Had the portobello mushroom meal - was mediocre. Slow service b/c they don't have any busboys - just the wait staff to clear tables - took a while to clear ours. For that pricing, need to have quicker and more staff. Will go elsewhere for an expensive steak meal.
The food was wonderful! The French Onion soup was amazing, as was the French Dip sandwich. The menu heavily focuses on their prime rib and beef selections, though there are solid other choices as well. Going there again in a few weeks for our next business meeting.
