About this restaurant

Our unique venue covers three stories and is made up of five distinct spaces.

The casual Public Bar featuring Victorian beers and wines from our friends in the Yarra Valley;

The Dining Room, creating quality food from locally sourced, and seasonal produce;

The Providore & Bottle Shop, a retail space on selling our locally sourced products, small batch Victorian beers and wine;

The Mezzanine Bar, a small boutique bar and function space, focusing on personalised private events.

And finally the Rooftop Garden, an architecturally designed green space, that offers an outdoor bar and pavilion, surrounded by edible kitchen gardens and our massive timber arbour. Our Rooftop garden can be enjoyed all year round, but understandably it’s operation is weather dependant.

We made an 8pm booking. When we got there they said kitchen closes at 830. We ordered our mains. At 9pm we asked for a drink they said the bar closed but they never told us. We would have gone elsewhere. In the end we didn’t even get a chance to have dessert either. If I were the owners I would be annoyed at their staff for closing early when they had so many patrons. Or I wouldn’t accept 8pm bookings as it damages the customer experience. We were completely turned off by the staff and we have been there before with no issues. Very disappointing and they have lost several now customers as all of us will no longer go back.

Yesterday my husband and I had the Friday, Express $15 lunch -(main course, including a good sized glass of wine)! I had the gnocchi and wine and he had the chicken schnitzel and wine! Very delicious!! The value was absolutely amazing!! The main clientele, for lunch, on a weekday would probably be older folk, like ourselves, as most younger people would be at work! Whenever we go out with our friends, for lunch, our friends and ourselves, always go for the Senior’s meals! So it is terrific to see Suburban is keeping us in mind! Because of this, we have already planned to bring friends/family on three different dates in the near future, to take advantage of the $15 Express lunch!

WE ENJOYED OUR EXPERIENCE BUT FROM THE TIME WE WERE SEATED AT 6PM THE MAIN COURSE DID NOT COME UNTIL 1 HOUR LATER AND THEN WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD HAVE TO VACATE OUR TABLE BY 8PM . NOT VERY GOOD FROM A CUSTOMERS POINT OF VIEW. WE DID COMPLAIN TO THE MANAGER WHO GRANTED US A ADDITIONAL TIME BUT THE SWEETS TOOK ANOTHER 1/2 HOUR TO ARRIVE WE LEFT WITHOUT HAVING A COFFEE. THE FOOD IS VERY GOOD BUT YOUR PROBLEM OF POOR SERVICE WILL HAVE TO BE CORRECTED . WE ARE REGULAR CUSTOMERS AND WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED BARRY GEE.

We were there for a hens night and I found it a little loud but the staff are very perlite and helpful. I would go back for sure . If I would add any criticism it would be they need more traditional cocktails on the menu. We were on the ground floor but next time I’d like to go up to the roof top .
