The Study at Modern Honolulu
At 6 p.m. each evening, the bookshelves rotate to reveal The Study’s neutral palette and clean lines, whispers of THE MODERN HONOLULU’s subtle sophistication. That’s your invitation to get to know The Study – a knockout cached in understatement. Every night, live music performances by Honolulu's finest contemporary artists provide the perfect backdrop from 8-10:30 p.m.
We received excellent service even though we were a large group. I was impressed!
When I arrived I was told that I didn’t have a table reserved. The reservation I made didn’t mean anything because they don’t reserve tables unless you buy bottle service. There was no point in making a reservation or using this app.
We had a ton of fun! The atmosphere was great! Live singer performed a good mix of music and the concept of this place I thought was pretty creative. Mixed crowd of mostly 25-40-year olds.
Food was amazing along with the live music but there was a competition between live music and table talk.
It was good but I was expecting something else. It was a very nice hotel bar
Met a friend for drinks here. The ambiance is great! Had light pupus not the best value, drinks were great though. We arrive during happy hour and later on they had live music. Musician was great but it began to get crowded with a very young and disinhibited group so we left.
Popular gathering place, but more focused on bar than food. We were one of only four tables and service was slow The food portions are small and priced extremely high for what you get. As an example, the hummus cane with three pita chips and the vegetable crudités were soft and limp so you couldn’t really use them. The drinks are good and we did return another night (Saturday and it was part of hotel ) and it proved to be a very popular spot.
This is a nice speakeasy-style bar that sits behind a bookcase in The Modern hotel. The bartender Maxwell knows his cocktails and was very friendly and fun to talk to.
Cool vibe, and good live music. Nice interior, comfortable seating.
it was great!!
Good music on Monday night service was good thanks
The Staff here makes this place what it is. Great live music and happy hour goes till 8pm!! Thanks Bobby and the gang for another great night!
Went here for mother’s day. My mom loved the happy hour and my dad loved the cocktails. We will be back!
The setting is surreal and nice. The drinks and food amazing. The live music was excellent but the noise level from the raucous clients made this an impossible venue for romantic outings.
Great dining. Entertainment by Phil was excellent.
Had happy hour drinks and food.
This was such a fun evening! Great service, music, food and drinks. Very friendly atmosphere.
They were out of the local beer we wanted but the bartender made me a good spicy margarita. The steak frites was delicious although small portion! Meat perfectly cooked and chimichuri sauce yummy. I would order again for sure.
We experienced one of the best singers on the island at this bar.. Thursday nights- with great cocktails and food it was fabulous night
My husband and I dropped by for drinks, heavy apps and dessert. It had a lounge feel and loved that they had live music!
When we walked in there was no host anywhere to be seen. We decided to seat ourselves. There was probably 15 people total in there when we arrived. We waited 8 minutes before we greeted. We ordered our drinks and they were less than satisfactory. There was a bartender but he wasn't making drinks like other places we have visted. Just standing there.
We ordered the margherita pizza and it taste like someone microwaved it.
I would HIGHLY suggest that the entire team, including owners go and visit a place we went to directly after leaving The Study Bar...and go to experience Bar Leather Apron. This is what a be ue like yours should strive for.
Great for night out listening to nice live music. Jeremy was nice enough to sing request songs from the audience. Service was awesome. Very friendly and attentive.
Would definitely come back to The Study on our next vacay in Waikiki.
Always a good time!! Definitely check it out. Great drink and food prices and good staff!
I had to make a last minute reservation through Open Table and was relieved to find space at The Study. The maximum number of people I could reserve a table for via the service was 6 - even though I had more people in our group. When we arrived at 8:15 I requested a couple extra chairs for our table because we had a few people left standing. The manager, Justin, scolded me for not making a reservation for a larger party. I explained that I made the reservation in the morning, before the bar was open, and was limited to six people through Open Table. He accommodated us but was clearly irked and our server neglected our party during the latter half of the night.
Visited for drinks and a bite to eat. Food is served tapas style which we liked, and the drinks were lovely.
The live music was nice and staff were attentive.
Would visit again.
We came for happy hour at 7:30pm on a Friday. It was pretty empty but it will start to fill up around 9ish. We ordered the Tito's Mule to start, Burrata (very fresh, highly recommend) and Sliders (the foie gras really made the dish complete) - then ended with a few more drinks and their ice cream sundae. What was really nice was the live music performed by Izik. He does awesome covers of today's popular songs, so we really enjoyed it. We would come back for a chill evening if we're in the area again.
Very cold; AC set way too low. Good cocktails with fun names and descriptions. Food came out warm, not hot. Steak frites was delicious but cold. Same with the second try. French fries are frozen, not fresh.
