Food is wonderful. Service is the best we have ever experienced. Loved dinner and loved bfast. Lutsen is beautiful and so relaxing inside and outside by the Lake. Have been dining at Lutsen for 50 years.

Great wine select. The food was very expensive and tasted great, but we felt it was overpriced. But, the biggest disappointment was when we walked up and my husband was chastised for his dress. The waiter stated they had changed their dress code a few days before to cruise casual. Interestingly, my husband had the required collared shirt on under his outerwear. So, my husband was irritated, the waiter embarrassed. Anyway, we had a nice overpriced meal with 6 other couples dressed less then required!

As a solo diner, they stashed me out of the way in a way-too-hot part of the restaurant right next to the fireplace despite many open seats near the windows with a view, and proceeded to treat me like an unimportant, second-class customer. The service was prompt if uncaring, and the food was WAY too expensive for what it was. Nice place, but overall subpar experience.

Dinner there is never cheap but the food, service, ambience, and ways the staff try to make the evening special makes the Strand our go to place for special occasions. We have been there many, many times and have never been disappointed.

Highly anticipated and wanted to love this restaurant, especially given the Wine Spectator award and prices. Average entree is $70 with most being $90. We ordered wine with dinner. Wine actually was decanted after the meal was already served. Food was just okay and certainly not at the price points

Yes, it is pricey, but did you never learn you get what you pay for? The food is unique, the service absolutely impeccable, and it would be impossible to find fault with the ambiance. We were there for brunch with friends the other day. Two of us had the Swedish pancakes, and two had the brioche French toast. Delicious, beautifully presented, and generous portions. Our server was attentive but not intrusive. The other couple had eaten dinner there recently and their only complaint was, that now that the pub room is closed, it is very expensive for someone who is just looking for a local bite to eat. (However, the husband remarked that his pork chop was divine.) It would be hard for a young family who was staying at the resort to feed their family there, but as local cabin owners who occasionally wants a special place to dine, we are certainly grateful to have the Strand nearby!

Had a good meal but feel it is overpriced for what you get. Our server was very good but unfortunately my wife’s sturgeon was barely warm. At the end of the day food and service was good, but for $95/plate and a meal north or $500 for a family of 5, we expect an exceptional dining experience and this just falls a bit short in that regard. Would recommend if your budget allows.

We celebrated my husband’s birthday on a Sunday night at The Strand. It was a quiet night with only a handful of tables which was exactly the low-key vibe we were looking for. We had a beautiful view of the lake as the nearly full moon rose throughout our dinner which added to the cozy atmosphere of the dining room. From start to finish dinner was awesome. Our wonderful server Diana helped us navigate the menu since we hadn’t been to this restaurant in over a decade. She was super knowledgeable about the menu, had great recommendations, and timed each course perfectly. First, she brought us a delicious amuse bouche of salmon mousse on a rice cracker which set the tone for the rest of the meal. From there I had the smoked goose chowder and my husband had a house green salad to start and both were fresh and flavorful. In between courses we had a refreshing raspberry sorbet which was a perfect palate cleanser. For our entrees we both had the salmon and wild rice with fat, crisp asparagus on the side, all of which were delicious. We paired dinner with The Seeker rosé from France which was the perfect accompaniment to a brilliant meal. Our 8 year old had the homemade chicken fingers and potato wedges and she loved all of it! Finally we finished the meal with chocolate truffles for us and our daughter had the brownie with vanilla ice cream. My husband said it was the best birthday meal he can remember and he’s no spring chicken! Thank you to Diana and the rest of the staff of The Strand for a memorable meal. We’ll be back next time we’re in the area.

Food is wonderful!! We ended up eating here both nights on our quick trip up the north shore and we loved everything we tried! We had the Goose chowder both evening it was amazing!! The Porterhouse was fabulous and the phesant cordon blue delightful!! The staff was wonderful this is a must visit when traveling up North!!

Great food, service and atmosphere. The biggest draw back could be the pricing for many. It's pretty hard to swallow a $35.00 hamburger. I am sure the pricing is limiting the number of guests booking. If price isn't an issue, you'll have a very fine meal.

We had a lovely dinner at the Strand! Our server was Diana and she was fantastic. The space is so cozy and has a great atmosphere, and the food is wonderful. Do note that their portion sizes are MASSIVE! My husband and I split one appetizer, one soup, and one entree plus dessert and were super full.

The setting and ambiance are unbeatable in our area - meal presentation was excellent. Have eaten here many times in the past and food was incredible. However, this time the pork chop was dry and tough and the potatoes were very undercooked - almost couldn't cut through them - sad to see - hope this is corrected in future :-)

Bad service experience. Waited for 30 minutes in the lobby for a server to take our cocktail order, which never happened. We were finally sat, but didn’t get service after 6 minutes of waiting. We got up and walked out. Wouldn’t recommend given the ridiculous price point. Poor overall.

This is the first time we’ve had an exceptional meal up on the north shore! Highly recommend! The walleye cakes were a standout but our whole meal left an impression. We’ll eat here every time we’re near Lutsen!

Too expensive for quality of food, especially the Swedish meatballs (taste unexceptional and mashed potatoes disappointing). Not the same quality as previous years. Chicken was excellent, however the waffles were bland and the white sauce terrible. We did enjoy the extra treats between courses and dessert chocolates and the sodas were good. Service was very friendly, but no one asked how our meal was.
