The Strand at Carillon Miami
We went to the restaurant because they are part of Miami Spice. We found after arriving that Sundays they do not offer Miami Spice prices. The restaurant was otherwise completely empty and although we brought to the manager’s attention that they are listed in the website as offering it, he was not receptive to our needs. Anyhow, I wasn’t even planning to eat off a pre fixe but my wife was, but it would have been nice for him to acknowledge that they are listed and should honor the price. In any case, we ate off menu and the food was very good. Service was subpar for a restaurant with a $65 steak (I could go to Prime and pay that for a better cut) which is why the 3 stars and not 5. Mid-meal they changed our wait staff and although it improved, all in all 8 different people passed thru our table... LOL (1 bar back, 1 runner, 1 busser, manager, 2 waiters and hostess) wait was that 7? Anyways, if you don’t mind the service and want to eat well... definitely recommended. Ohh and the drinks were good too... maybe 3 stars is a little harsh, but there aren’t any half stars.
Wonderful women’s brunch before visiting the spa
Great food and service. Outside seating is very relaxing.
We went for dinner before watching fireworks on July 4th. It’s a beautiful restaurant usually very accommodating with excellent service. Food is not consistently good unfortunately. We waited about 45 min for our entrees. The fish of the day was very good. Deboned table-side was a plus! We ordered broccoli and they served us green cauliflower- it was plain but good. There was no forewarning that it wasn’t broccoli. We ordered fried calamari which was mostly fried dough with a nice spicy sauce though. Also I ordered lobster dinner entree for $49 and it was lobster on top of mache lettuce- with a few cherry tomatoes and a ton of olives. I was not expecting a salad. But instead was expecting beautiful heirloom tomatoes and a basil sauce or pesto with lobster. I thought it would be a warm dish, a pretty plate. Would not recommend. And when I told the waiter that this is not what I was expecting -it’s just a lobster salad, he said, ”enjoy your dinner”. Won’t return for dinner at those prices.
Food was terrible.... very bland, calamari was like a rubber band, awful. Restaurant was pretty empty, servers were friendly, but not all that good. Would never go back.
We were there the weekend where you need to purchase the brunch $65.00 per person. What a disappointment. The food was laying out for hours and it was charred. We had to constantly wait to get food, the food was scarce and a very bad selection, cheap. Don’t waste your money!!!
A little pricey for what is offered but great place and food.
Need more waiters on the floor.
Good brunch. Not a lot of offerings but everything that was offered was very good. They had a special event for Mother's Day and my mom really enjoyed her time which is the most important part. Well done!
We have a breakfast with mimosas at the terrace to celebrate mother’s day, and We have the best service with Maria
The view and the beach atmosphere is great
Nice ocean view patio, pleasant ambiance, rather quick service.
Great service, great location, great food!
Food was meh. I would only come back if I had no other choice. Surprisingly mediocre food. Nothing exceptional. Kids food was ok. We got salads and neither of us finished them.
We had lunch on the outside terrace with a perfect view of the ocean and perfect amount of shade. What a difference from a month ago with great service and very tasty food. Nice music and good crowd.
The whole dining experience at the Strand was fantastic. The cauliflower appetizer is delicious (highly recommend) and the salmon and the baked chicken main dishes are great. Plus, the price is quite reasonable compared to other local restaurants. Will definitely be going back.
Still trying to get their act together. New manager and seems very excellent so hoping for the best. Will give it a month and give another try. The outdoor seating is incredible
Too slow good food good price
Overseating forced a number of New Year's eve guests outside, away from the live entertainment!
The waiter was rude, forgot to ask if we wanted drinks. We asked for the drinks when he took the order, he didn’t bring them until after we reminded him again when we finally got our apps served. He also brought the wrong appetizers. This was like a joke.
On a good note the food was delicious. Probably will not return even though my family lives in the Carillon. We were very disappointed. Of course, even with small parties he automatically gets an 18% tip. (I would never not tip but I guess he doesnt have to put in any effort for good service. Miami Beach has many awesome restaurants - go elsewhere.
The dishes were not as we remembered them unde the original chef, Stephen Ullrich. They were smaller and flavorless for the most part. We actually had to ask for salt. Gnocchi was over cooked to the point of mushiness. This was one of our favorite spots but we won’t be returning.
We had the prefix thanksgiving dinner. Really very good to excellent.
Service is prompt and ambience very good.
Not the first meal we have had here. All were very good.
Service and ambiance are great; love the decor and the staff. Unfortunately, we weren’t blown away by the food. It just wasn’t great, lack of flavor.
Returned for Miami Spice again. No one at the front desk for several minutes- then the manager came over and apologized but the same thing happened to me last time. Nice setting but quiet and only a few tables occupied. Had smoked carrot hummus and watermelon salad - both good. Of note, the mango shrimp salad now has a ridiculous $10 up charge which was not there when I went last month. I even had a picture of the previous menu but the manager would not honor it and said it had changed. Considering the difference in price between the shrimp mango salad and the other 2 appetizers was only $2-3 on the regular menu, it made no sense to charge an extra $10. Maybe $5 at most. We the. Had the fish wrap which was excellent and very filling. For dessert we had the chocolate cake and also the pistachio option- both good. Overall it was a good experience - good food and good value.
CANe for miami spice. Food was perfect. Portions were larger than expected. Live music was upbeat yet soothing. Wonderful evening!
This was the second time we went to the Strand. Amazing food and service. Worth the drive out of south Beach.
We had the Miami Spice menu and the food was really good !
Overall it was very good, but there was no one at the front desk to check in. Eventually I was seated by a server after she couldn’t find the hostess- but I sat there without anyone coming to my table for almost 5 minutes. Finally a server came by and then I got water and bread. I went for Miami Soice but had to ask for that menu. This seems to be a trend these days- the restaurants participate but don’t advertise it or give you that menu u less you ask. Had shrimp avocado salad- very good with at least 6-8 shrimp. Fish wrap was excellent and very filling. The chocolate bread pudding with champagne sorbet was also very good for dessert. My server - Maria - was excellent- came by before and after each course to see how everything was - also went to other tables that weren’t even hers - very friendly. The reason I have service 3 stars was that no hostess was there and then I was initially ignored after being seated. Otherwise it was very good as noted. The place is very quiet but nice. And the Miami Spice lunch is a good deal.
The food was incredible, and the service wonderful. The setting is gorgeous and very comfortable. It was evident the staff are very committed to the restaurant and we weren’t surprised to hear the many hailed from Beachcraft, one of our favorite restaurants on the beach. Definitely worth the Uber to North Miami. Have the foie gras!!
Fabulous experience, our server Sebastian was attentive and professional. The Thursday half off wines special allowed us to treat ourselves to a lovely bottle of Henriot champagne. Oysters were fresh and delicious as was the fungi pasta and sea bass! Can’t wait to go back next week:)!!!
Friends in town for Memorial Day
Mother’s Day Brunch buffet was exquisite... we sat in the Ocean Terrace with beautiful views of the beach. The food was absolutely scrumptious, the service impeccable, and the entertainment, pardon the pun, hit just the right note.
I can’t wait to visit again!
Food was ok, the service was very good, entertainment was the best of all of it, but some other brunch places have a huge selection with unlimited on the price included it might be more but worth the bigger variety of food.
The service was extremely slow even though there were very few people in the restaurant. The valet parking was done via text and very inefficient.
Our waiter was very sweet and helpful. Loved the food we ate.
I am very upset with this restaurant.
I have a gluten intolerance and they have gluten free options on the menu and I chose the salmon which said gluten free- but it was served with a sort of grain which I assumed was gluten free like quinoa (small ball shaped) and proceeded to eat it- I asked the waiter what it was and he told me pasta!
SO you cannot trust their gluten free menu at all-
I haven't eaten gluten in almost a year until Saturday night at The Strand!
We finally have an oceanfront restaurant in MidBeach with delicious foods, great service and beautiful ambiance! Excellent!
Fantastic service and delicious food! Oceanfront dinner under a full moon provided a very memorable experience. Highly recommend the The Strand at the Carillon.
Mediocre at best. Nothing about this place is special. The service was adequate and the food and plating were disappointing. There are many other choices in South Beach that easily surpass the experience at this place.
To sum it up it was ok. It has the makings of a very nice atmosphere but fell way short and the service was slow on the terrace , only one server for 7+ tables.
Nothing overly negative but nothing to rave about. Prob would not go back.
Found the food mediocre and expensive for a restaurant that wants to be a neighborhood choice.
