The Story Cafe - Eatery & Bar
The History of The Story Cafe…
It’s all from a thought “There is a story in everything” by the owner. He loves music, coffee, brunch, drinks, antiques, vintage records, cameras, phones and more. So in 2018, he had an idea of combining all the elements into a restaurant. We converted a 30 years old warehouse into a new concept restaurant. After two years for all the design, inspections and constructions and finally The Story Cafe came to life and soft opened in March 2020.
We believe that nothing is useless, in fact almost everything in the restaurant has it’s age and we bought them off from their previous owner in lower mainland and want to give them a new life in our restaurant. When you walk into our restaurant, you may think you are in different centuries that would remind you your old memories
At the same time, we are changing the history everyday and creating our own story. We are inviting you to join and be a part of our story.

very cute place. I love it! Nice ambiance. Nice foods!
great breakfast!! will definitely be back!
Food and ambience were amazing!! It's such a hidden gem in Richmond and deserves more attention.
Love coming here every once in a while for a nice breakfast!
Amazing food and atmosphere. Price is always great. First time for my three friends but my 5th time coming in.
Service was a little slower. We only had one offer for another round during our meal (empty glasdes, smaller check average lol) plates weren't cleared after appies, I asked for ground pepper but never came, meal was practically over when it did arrive.
Everything else, drinks and food was spot on as usual but just a bit of a wait for things, and since we had limited time to dine because of restrictions, definitely more noticeable.
Will still come back though :)
Great restaurant! Food was great, service was fantastic. Great find!
Do your best ! Good food , nice area in Richmond , hope every season difference menu .
Best place to eat in Richmond. Definitely my favourite 😀
We sat outside on the patio for lunch. They have plenty of heaters available to keep you warm if the weather is still a bit chilly. The service was very good. Good value for your money. I like that I can get brunch dishes until 3 pm during the week.
Fruit need to be fresh cut. Orange very dry up.
Good food and good service
The service was amazing. Our server exceeded our expectations and went beyond. Will be coming back for sure.
Unique menu items, lots to try. Great food and great service. :)
Very impressed with the quality of the meal and the service. I would definitely recommend them to friends
First time visit, very impressive.
Great new find! Interesting, inventive menu... we had a very cosy brunch on their heated patio with great coffee, fresh baked treats and good food.
Food was yummy.service was excellent.
Tried first time but loved it.
During pandemic, safety precautions from restaurant staff was failed in my visit today.
First, waitress wasn’t wear mask properly, she pulled down her mask below her mouth while talking on the phone but I was just standing there. However, inside indoor, she should have mask on all time no matter customer around or not. Second, she had another customer just right beside our table which there was no plexiglass nor 6 feet in between tables which it’s totally unacceptable during pandemic especially cases are up everyday. We want to eat out but at the same time we need everyone follow COVID guidelines.
Generally, food was ok, not exceptional. No harm to try but nothing special visiting again.
Fab independent chill restaurant with retro vibe. Great menu selection, delicious Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner options. Free neighborhood parking albeit limited.
Excellent experience that won't disappoint. Warm welcome to the restaurant. Fit us in to the restaurant to the best seats available so my senior mother not feeling cold. Food was awesome. Due to the last day of the lobster fest, we decided to order the Lobster pizza with great choice of seafood ingredients including big prawn, scallops, salmon sashimi and caviar. We also ordered fresh raw oysters which were very fresh. We will definitely come back. Thanks. You are awesome.
Nice service, nice people, good food, beautiful place. Sat at patio for lunch and a bit chilly as the plexiglass blocked the heat . But overall it's great and is recommended. Will definitely go again.
Enjoy this little place
Will be part of our regular stops
Once life becomes a bit more normal
Delicious food, nice place, awesome decorations! Friendly staff.
So good. Staff are super nice too!
The food was a bit cold. They taste good for the first couple bites and get cold quick. And i think for the price point of all the dishes, they should do something abt it. Either the room temp should be higher or warm up the plates. 🙂
Had been meaning to go since tbey opened a year ago. The raves are merited, food, service and ambience all excellent. I will be back, my dining companions felt same.
Fabulous as always!
We sat on the patio and had the shrimp pizza and seafood Risotto. Both were excellent !
The ambience inside is cool ! Our servers were very good and attentive. Only the dessert of Lava cake was a bit disappointing.
No regrets 😋 they have a excellent selections of English breakfast to choose from.
Enjoyable evening, food served in timely manner, tasty and well presented. Wine list was extremely limited however and portions were on the small side.
Great foods, great environment. A good place to chit-chat, take pretty photos and enjoy the foods.
Been here 3 times. Food is always amazing. Only problem is service. First time I came here had to get up a few times to get the waiter to order drinks and food for the outdoor patio. This was before last year restrictions. Gave it another 2 shots. And again waiters here don't really care. We had to wave them down a few times. They don't seem to keep there heads up. Or 3 waiters are to busy in the bar area talking.
Delicious food, friendly staff.
Covid friendly, with separated tables and plastic screens.
First time to try! Excellent!
Good food, great service
Everything was good
Foie Gras risotto lack of taste though
Pizza not so good
The dough need some help
We sat outdoor
Happy to see they put water for the dogs
Overall excellent. Price is a bit high for what you get but hey, things are getting expensive everywhere. Fries could be slightly more crispy but that's my personal taste.
My friend and I visit there regularly but having trouble with Open Table apps for booking the outside area. Only standard table available. It is impossible that the outside aera is booked one month in advance. Please investigate the issue and revert. Thank you.
Great local. Good to see this joint doing well 12 months on after a tough year for this industry. Keep it going!
