The Story Cafe - Eatery & Bar
We believe that nothing is useless. Therefore, as far as your eyes can see, all the decorations have their own stories and tales, they have been handpicked and gathered from all over BC. We hope you will feel like you are in a different century and a different time where the arts would thrive and generate amazing stories as you dine and enjoy the antique décor.
Throughout the week we have music nights that are dedicated to showcasing different musical genres and different talented musicians to give you entertainment and give back to the community in our own way.
The Story café invites you to join us and become part of our story.

Came to this spot for a quiet dinner with friends. Food was okay, nothing to write home about. The tables were small and cramped and there was very loud music playing which made it hard to hear. Service was good.
Staff are very nice and friendly.
Birthday dinner! Jerome was fabulous!
We went to The STORY cafe to celebrate my birthday. The staff are very friendly, pleasant and approachable esp Jerome and the 2 ladies that brought our foods. Food that we ordered are all delicious. Overall, it is a great experience for us. We are looking forward for our next visit. Thank you very much.
Had brunch... good portions. Food was tasty. Busy little restaurant.
great food , nice presentation . good size portion
Very different experience and ambiance. Very good services and foods
Some of the best service I have ever had. The servers were all lovely and food was great!
It is a fun place for brunch or lunch for sure. Great service and quite a varied menu. Ample free parking as well.
Fun place with great music. Just be prepared for small portions of expensive food in big plates. The lamb I ordered wasn’t the best quality (very tough to cut), only slightly warm (not hot) with a dried up potato thingy and not enough sauce. Very nice presentation but pretty disappointed with the quality of food considering the price. Atmosphere was warm with a great ambience. I was pleasantly surprised with the charming live music and love that we have a place to support local artists and musicians. For some reason the second set was extremely loud (doubled the volume?) which didn’t really fit with the small venue. Will probably come back to enjoy the music but will have to lower my expectations on the food.
Lovely creative atmosphere and delicious upmarket food with an enticing menu.
Friendly, attentive staff.
A little step back in time with the decor and music, something to catch an inquisitive eye wherever you look. The menu is diverse and lots of great brunch options. The service was great! Will definitely be back.
They opened pretty much at the beginning of covid and have become only busier and better since. Keep up the good work.
The food was excellent..we had soup, appetizer, main course, and dessert. My husband and I are glad that there is no need to go downtown to be able to enjoy this quality of good food. If we had stayed longer (@ 8:00pm), we would have also had live music from local artist.
Great, heated and enclosed patio to the side (not visible from Google images) and a menu with enough variety and choice to suit most tastes. Great brunch find in north Richmond area!
Awesome service as usual.
Don't bother to send them email, they'll never reply.
They let us book the patio but it was absolutely freezing in the snowy weather. Even though the website says it's fully covered and warm, the screens are made of a mesh covering. We were too cold so ended up leaving. The server was very nice though and gave us hot water and turned on all the heaters to try and make it work. Don't recommend patio seating in the winter.
The food was better than I expected! We would come back again. We had no choice but to be seated at the enclosed patio area. There were heaters, but it was still cold. And halfway through our meal, our legs and feet were freezing! I would recommend indoor seating if it’s too cold out. We were there when outdoor temperature was around -4c.
Overall, it was good!!!
Server did not follow social distancing and talked too much. He put cutlery right on the dirts (which was obvious) on the table. Server kept talking and missed orders. One of the dishes was not well cooked.
Very good food, attentive service and nice ambiance. But the manage/owner don’t bother to upgrade whatever changes they decide to make on their website and social media or get back to customer for their request. If you have a Christmas set menu then post the menu items and the price on your IG or website. If you only intend to serve the Christmas set menu during dinner time then post that so all your customer are informed. If you only serve happy hour items during happy hour then say it on your website , Instagram whatever so customers are not disappointed that they can’t order the regular entrées btwn 3-5. I understand you’re understaffed during this vivid time but just upgrading what’s going on with your restaurant only take few minutes on social media.
Their menu is great, there is something for everyone! Their starters are great to share with the table, so many options! Definitely recommend their cheesecake and a cappuccino for dessert!
We were there for a date night. Great food and excellent service.
Food value is overpriced. I paid downtown price in a small cafe in Richmond. Small appetizer costed at main course value. Duct breast was dry. Opera cake in the christmas menu taste very bad. They should not put into the menu if the staff rating was low.
it’s a convenient spot for me to visit not particularly like or dislike
This little gem is just down the street from a couple of hotels near the airport. The decor is very retro and we enjoyed seeing things that reminded us of our youth! We’ve eaten there twice since it is close by and delicious. Our dinner last night was so good! Gnocchi with lobster, a rocket salad, and mushroom soup. This morning we had their breakfast. I had a frittata and my husband had English breakfast. Good portion sizes, you won’t go away hungry. Definitely get a reservation it fills up fast. They practice good covid protocols.
Great staff and always delicious food. Working our way through their menu to sample everything. Been there 11 times now.
Not happy as an OpenTable booking to be seated next to the washroom! (It’s disgusting )Customers make reservations for a reason..also pancake was a joke..parking is brutal specially on a rainy morning..On a high note, the brioche chicken was sumptuous! I actually won’t recommend this place..as we were there for a special occasion
I loved the food there it was wonderful. They had a live band there as well singing Chinese old songs from the 80’s. The atmosphere was terrific. I will most definitely come back to this restaurant.
Amazing service and great food ! Highly recommended
Love the food and service，i had a very nice birthday brunch
Excellent service and food. Must visit again. Nice place to gather for brunch and a well listed menu to choose from.
It was good. I thought the picture in the washroom was an interesting choice. (You will have to go visit to find out…)
Food was really good. I had the lasagna and I would order it again.
First time here with my wife, the food and service was excellent! Also, really enjoyed the live music. Highly recommend the Signature Risotto. Scallops and shrimp were cooked to perfection. We also order the Sable fish, which was also very delicious and cooked perfectly.
My only criticism would be our desert. We ordered Killing Me Softly (lava cake). In my opinion, the flavour was nothing special and the temperature was a bit on the cooler side. But, it was still nice to finish the dinner with something sweet.
Overall, We highly recommend Story Cafe!
Amazing customer service. Staff tried to make sure everyone was feeling warm on the covered patio dining area. Excellent food! Everything we ordered came right on time and tasted fresh!
Pasta was good but the fries was cold. My daughter tried the “killing me softly” chocolate molten lava cake as the dessert.
nice place patio is warm
Overall: The theme of the restaurant “story” is clever and works well in the decor, feel and menu of the establishment, and combined with the service and food is an experience I would revisit again and again.
Food: The taste, texture, combinations, temperature, composition, and speed were all perfect in my opinion. There was also a good variety of protein/main course choices.
Service: Everyone is warm, friendly, and polite, and made me feel comfortable.
Other: Offers outdoor seating with heaters as well as indoor, and we also had the fortune of listening in to their live music session for Wednesday nights!
Loved this trendy hideaway in Richmond. Don't let the outside of the building fool you - inside it's full of surprises. Best pasta I've had in Vancouver so far - ribs melted in mouth. Fast and engaging servers. Couldn't stay for the live music this time, but we'll be back to try some of the interesting appetizers and of course must have the "Creme Bruce Lee" for dessert! Kelly L
Thanks to our server Toffee, who makes our evening more enjoyable.
Don't bother to send them email to ask question, you will never got an answer.
Good music on Monday night.
Server Jerome provide great service. But not the hostess. She was not friendly and didn’t ask us for the vaccines passport.
