Best burger in the city!
Ordered eggs over easy but waitress warned that they may be cooked to hard which they were and she offered to replace them if I was not satisfied. I had three grandchildren with me and didn't want to take the time. Cooking eggs over easy should be a simple task for a brunch menu. Otherwise the food was well prepared and the service was excellent.
A wonderful New Year’s Eve experience!
Beer choices extensive. Wine choices acceptable - mainly California, Italy, and Spain. Bonus is 2 for 1 drinks until 7 pm. Menu varied enough - preparation outstanding and portions generous; dinners were as well done as at any local restaurant. Total bill very fair for quality and overall experience. Definitely headed back soon.
Great find in Syracuse. Food was excellent. Pastries and croissants were off the charts.
Enjoyed Sunday brunch with friends at the Stoop. The decor, ambiance, and food were excellent. The waitress was personable and enhanced the experience. We'll be back!
Breakfast menu very limited, no vegan or gluten free choices. Food was served cold and eggs were over done. Did not voice concerns but it was not very good at all
I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately it did not live up to the reviews. Started off waiting by the hostess stand for someone to greet us as we had a reservation, but was completely ignored by all the staff. Eventually approached the bar to have a drink and check in with the bar tender (who was great at her job). Once seated at a table, the food was sub par. Sauce with the bread was nicely seasoned, but the pork belly was way too salty!! Overall our food lacked any wow factor and was just OK. Not worth a return visit for dinner - maybe I’ll check out their bakery.
Excellent meal & service in a cozy, not stuffy atmosphere.
I'm a fairly adventurous leader so when the only thing that looks appetizing is the burger, I'm a disappointed diner. The music was too loud to be able to hear conversation and the service was ok but not super attentive. The final nail in the coffin was when the check had suggested tips and the calculations were overstated. Not good practice.
Food took way to long to get to us. When it did my steak was over cooked and cold my soup never came out at all until I sent my entree back. Manager never came to table and nothing was done to the bill.
We dined for date night before seeing a show. Food and service we're awesome, with appropriate timing. Will definitely return.
Amazing food and considerate service. Although we were rushed when main course arrived before we were finished our apps.
We had a delicious meal on Saturday night. Loved the appetizer special and the dinner specials! Wait staff was friendly and attentive. We will return!
The place was perfect. The menu is somewhat eclectic with some interesting choices spanning several different cuisines. We had the steak special and the scallops...both were terrific and well presented. Service was friendly and efficient...drinks were great and I loved the coffee. Highly recommended.
On a recent Saturday night we had dinner at the Stoop Kitchen....very creative menu for food and drinks. The atmosphere is amazing....feels like a Manhattan restaurant...very cool vibe with exposed brick and great lighting on the second floor..enjoyed watching the chefs prepare and cook our meal at the open kitchen on the second floor next to the very cool 2nd floor bar. Our food was cooked perfectly and we had no long wait for anything. We would highly recommend the Stoop Kitchen for dinner and especially for Sunday brunch...
Brunch menu was creative and tasty. Server was polite and attentive, but food was a bit slow to arrive. The restaurant seemed quite busy. We sat on the first floor...good ambiance with plenty of natural light in the back. Excellent coffee!
The owner Barb was warm, welcoming and very accommodating for our last minute request for brunch during a busy family weekend. She even called to let me know that she had our table but the kitchen was backed up, so there would be a bit of a wait if we were on a tight schedule. We really appreciated her honesty (most owners would have had us wait without informing us just to get the business). The food was delicious, and definitely worth the wait! Fresh pastries made by an authentic French pastry chef, omelette with mushrooms, goat cheese & truffle oil...yum! We were a large group and everyone really enjoyed their meals. Our waitress was friendly & the atmosphere is very cool. We’ll definitely be back to try dinner (menu looks great!)
It takes a lot for me to sit down and write a review of a restaurant - it has to be exceptionally good or equally bad - but here I am: I have never, ever had an experience like what we had tonight at the Stoop Kitchen in Syracuse, NY.
We are here for Syracuse Parents Weekend, and I researched and made the reservation 3 months ago. We arrived at 7:30 and we were not served our dinner until 9:30pm! With copious apologies from a very frazzled waitress who we felt quite sorry for, every half an hour we were told it would be another twenty minutes. The restaurant was packed, as this is likely one of the busiest weekends of the year in Syracuse. I have to believe restaurants in a small college town anticipate Parents Weekend and the full house it brings. Not the Stoop Kitchen, everything about it felt like it was the first time they cooked in the kitchen! When we were finally served - two hours later - four of the six of us got our meal, and 15 minutes later the final two were served. With the exception of the salmon and fries, the food was disappointing - the chicken was not fully cooked, the bean tacos were like lead, and the risotto was watery rice.
Many guests at tables stood up and left halfway through, others complained to apologetic management, but nothing was done to rectify the experience. In the end, we were handed a bill that was half the meal charges, but it didn't come close to satisfying what was a really bad night. They should have just closed the restaurant and given everyone a rain check, inviting them back (with a discount) when they remembered what a restaurant experience was supposed to be like.
Bad experience, bad, bad, bad.
2 hours to get tacos and some chicken. Never seen anything like it and it wasn’t even a full restaurant
Waitress was super helpful
Food was excellent; very creative; well-sourced ingredients. Service was attentive & food came quickly but not too quickly.
Dinner service is upstairs. We didn't check to see if there is an elevator. If there isn't one, it would not be accessible to anyone who would have difficulty walking up one flight of stairs.
Great food, locally sourced, as well is a strong beer and wine list make this an all time favorite.
The fries and gravy are incredibly delicious. The Tagine and the marinara sauce served with the rice balls were quite heavy on the garlic.
The Stoop is a fun spot for a meal in Armory Square.
The menu clearly labels vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.
I ate the tagine, but was a bit underwhelmed. The description sounded great, but unfortunately the dish was nothing to write home about. The restaurant was also out of the only other vegan entree option the evening I was there (vegetable tacos), which was disappointing.
Delicious omlets and the pastry basket was
Unfortunately quite noisy and the service was very slow.
We will go again tho since the food was yummy!!!
The stoop is the best spot in Syracuse!
The food was delicious. They have a lot of options including options for people who have gluten free diets and even vegan. Everything we ordered was delicious and the selection of drinks on tap were great. Our waitress was very kind and helpful without being overbearing.
The Stoop was my favorite restaurant. With the new menu and limited options for vegans there is no reason to go back. I’ve had the only two items available. The tangine was okay but the tacos were just black beans on a Corn tortilla and neither are worth it. I loved the old menu.
Service was fantastic and food was great. I had the steak and eggs that were made perfectly! The cocktail choices were varied and delicious.
I was dining with my friend who was celebrating her birthday and another friend. They sat us at a counter overlooking the chef’s, which was really interesting! Food was amazing, service was excellent and I will definitely come back!
It is my second time here. Creative choices, unique decor and cheerful service will make it my choice again.
Was extremely disappointed hummus choice was not on new menu but life goes on. Lol
I'm afraid that even with a new chef and menu, the Stoop remains mediocre at best. The only thing this place has going for it is the bakery, but that's it. The waitstaff have attitudes. I know this to be true because I've visited the restaurant about six times in that many months. I'm done.
I always enjoy the unique food+ beverage choices and locally sourced food options here, and I'm willing to pay for that (but it can be very very pricey). Highly recommend the scallops and the burgers! Really hope they figure out a new dessert menu soon.
Awesome service and fresh delicious food with a consistently changing menu.
Love everything about this place! Ambience, hospitality, food quality... it's all incredible!
we were visiting for work and Stoop Kitchen was across the way. GREAT food. Everything was delicious. The grilled peach arugula salad was very fresh, not overly dressed and extremely flavorful Plus, we were lucky to catch $20 bottle night. Our only complaint was the waitress inaccurately told us the size of the plates. They were huge. I don't believe that was intentional, but we definitely could have ordered less.
A perfect evening all the way around!!
We waited about 15 minutes to be seated, even with a reservation. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu but they had run out of several items we wanted to order. I think just s little overwhelmed that evening. I will definitely try again.
What a cool place! We were looking for somewhere with a table for 7 available same day, and came across this on OpenTable... sounded good so we gave it a shot. They were busy, but were able to seat us outside on a lovely evening. The menu was interesting, the food was fresh and delicious, and the ambiance was quirky and with character. We will return next time we are in Syracuse!
