The Stones Common House & Kitchen
Great little place . Hood drinks and people are very friendly
Given Patrick Campbell's credentials, The Stones fell far short of our expectations. The restaurant is intended to be local and achieves that vibe... without any degree of sophistication in the service experience, decor or menu. The food was more disappointing than the atmosphere. The ribs were drowned in an overly sweet sauce. The entree salad was served with bacon crumbles, that I'd asked our waitress to omit... and when it was "corrected" salad was served, I discovered it did not reflect it's description on the menu. The "gem salad with shaved vegetables" featured only two varieties of shaved vegetables -- picked onions and radishes -- at a price of $18 (sans protein); the dressing was not as indicated; and unexplained shavings of parmesan were added -- as if the kitchen combined the gem and the caesar salads. The experience was a total disappointment; we will not return.
The bar is great, the food keeps changing and always great quality, so you can comeback and don't be bored with the same stuff. The portions are normal size. I don't like extremely big plates. A great option to enjoy a Downtown Boston type restaurant without having to drive all the way there and pay a lot for parking. The service is great too!
Great place to spend Mother’s Day. My first time there, my folks’ second. Food was great, we were seated quickly even though it was packed. Thank goodness we had the reservation. There was a large party at the back who were quite noisy, but the service and food were spot on. Didn’t have to wait long for our food and the host and hostess were very polite and friendly. Our server Johnny was very nice and not in your face but attentive and there when you needed him. His suggestions about desert were spot on. Great time! Will definitely go again.
Very nice first experience. I had the calamari and the chicken poutine. My wife had the ribs and the fries. Fries are excellent here. My wife's ribs were excellent. My chicken poutine was excellent. The calamari was very good with a very light breading. But that dish would have been much better with less lettuce and more calamari. Service was excellent.
We took my nearly 99 year old mom for lunch. She devoured her burger and fries! It was a little tight to maneuver her wheelchair and there’s nothing much to look at other than the tv and other diners but luckily there was a cute little girl for mom to watch. I will definitely be back maybe not with a wheelchair.
Ate at The Stones for the first time and loved it. Our server was friendly and very attentive. Food was creative and delicious. Had the hanger steak and it was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Will definitely go back.
We had a great dinner and a glass of wine each. Our server Kristen was great and so helpful. Will definitely return.
Loved the halibut skillet cookie and fresh pressed coffee. Promptly seated. Waitress was friendly courteous and attentive. A lovely time.
We have been to the Stones twice now. The service and atmosphere have been perfect and the food has been very good. Will definitely be back.
I would recommend The Stones. Beautifully decorated and excellent food & drinks. Very nice, fun place.
The gruyere and truffle oil drizzled popcorn was tasty. We loved the halibut and ricotta on pita bread with chili pepper and honey drizzle. The skillet cookie is delicious. Hostess bar staff and waiter are all friendly and courteous.
The food is amazing but even better is the service! The woman who is always at the front is so welcoming and always goes out of her way to interact with my kids. The wait staff is friendly, quick and helpful. There’s s good wine list and a varied and delicious menu.
Delicious homemade cavetelli with flavorful sauce.
Service was friendly and attentive.
The only problem was that my wife ordered Belgian Waffles and they were cold.
She doesn’t like to make a fuss so she ate them anyway.
Other than that, it was very good.
Great place. The service is outstanding, the food is very creative and very good. Definitely recommend
The food was amazing. We had oysters and I had the rigatoni. My boyfriend had the wings. The waitress was also great!
Awesome food, great service and drinks! Can’t wait to go back!
I really wanted to like this restaurant. It's very cute inside and the menu looked great. Unfortunately, the food was pretty terrible. I ordered what I thought was Belgian waffles. They were burnt and hard - not light or fluffy. I don't mind crispy edges but they were see through in the holes and very crispy. We also ordered the brunch fries but were served regular fries - they were very good. My husband had the short rib hash which weren't short ribs but rather pot roast and lacked any flavor. Overall, it was very overpriced for the quality of food. The service was good but they seemed overwhelmed for a busy Sunday service.
Great food and service! Love the homemade pasta. Many drink options.
Wonderful restaurant! Good food, friendly staff and a beautiful place.
Great first visit to Stones!
Waitstaff was awesome. Returned to the table several times to check in. Made sure silverware was complete for each of us after appetizers. She also fixed an unstable table immediately. Excellent service ans the food was delicious.
Our food was delicious and the service was spot on! I would definitely go again
Our team met for a casual lunch meeting. We reserved our table ahead of time and were seated right away.
Our food was good and I was very impressed with my coffee served in a french press. No auto drip coffee sold here!
Loved the cheese plate and wine at the bar. Bartender was great; she suggested the perfect wine and pairing. Looking forward to trying popcorn on next visit. The fresh pasta was delicious along with a tasty veggie burger and a skillet cookie that was outstanding. The vocals were a nice surprise while enjoying our dessert and French pressed coffee. Our server was very sweet and attentive. We’ll definitely be back.
Had gone before for just drinks and apps and was impressed. Decided to return to celebrate a birthday party and was not impressed with any of our meals. The pasta dishes were very underwhelming, especially for the price.
Would probably return for some apps and drinks but never again for dinner.
Salmon and lentils dish was very very good. My husband had the gnocchi which was delicious and plentiful. Both of our cocktails were very yummy. Calamari app was very good as well. Will def come back to try the burgers and fries as we saw many orders going by and they looked good!
We couldn’t find a babysitter for my birthday but we knew The Stones was very child-friendly. All the kids were happy and I still managed to have a special meal.
Always amazing!!! The food, the atmosphere, and the staff are all top notch.
Great meal and attentive friendly service from Olivia! Perfect pre-show (and after-show) place to meet and eat ... Greater Boston Stage Company is across the street!
place is great weeknights and now better on weekends with music.
The Stones Common was remarkable average. The food was good, not great. It was loud. I can say this with conviction our server was wonderful! She was prompt but not intrusive and very, very pleasant.
I would go back but I was blown away.
Solid fine-dining establishment in Stoneham. Food is good - yet, slightly overpriced!
The Stones is our most frequented restaurant since we moved to Stoneham. The staff is kind and helpful, the cocktails are top notch, and the food is to die for. I truly think there is something for everyone, and the menu changes over frequently! We always feel like we are able to try new things without getting into analysis paralysis over what to select. Most importantly, it feels like a much-needed addition to a very suburban area. We work in the city and crave "downtown dining" and it's so refreshing to have a go-to right in our backyard. I still miss living in the city, so if it makes sense, The Stones makes me feel more like myself!
We went to the Stones once before when they first opened and I think we're working out some kinks. We finally made it back and had a great meal. The drinks, while still good, weren't as good as the first visit, but the good was much better. We'll definitely be going back to try more things. Service was wonderful.
While it was enjoyable some things were a miss. The deviled eggs are quite good. Someone forgot to bake bread so they gave us crostini. I love gnocchi but this was too heavy on the fennel, a little mushy. The ice creams looked and tasted the same though we ordered two different ones. It's a nice addition to Stoneham if your in the area.
Brunch food was good, the coffee was very good. The service was prompt without being intrusive. The menu was somewhat limited. All in all a good choice for brunch.
Great food! Everything on the menu is well thought out and prepared perfectly! Appetizers were great and drink selection is large too. It’s pretty loud but otherwise a nice atmosphere. Food is stellar- a simply wonderful place!
We're so happy to have a comfy, delicious, creative restaurant locally! The drinks are fantastic, wait staff wonderful. The chef obviously loves what he does and offers nice specials. We could become regulars!
