We are THRILLED to have reinvented our dining services at The StoneHouse with head chef Garrett Dakan who has developed a diverse menu likely to satiate any palate. We are inspired by our community and have worked to create a food menu to bring people together. We have a variety of small dishes that are great to share with friends and family.     super happy with everything. :Loved the reasonably priced wine pairing which made it even more fun. It was nice not to be priced gauged in our small town when trying to have a special nite out. Love that I can have fun local and support local. keep up the great work.

    Interesting building, excellent food, friendly service (once seated). Parking area is dangerous and interior steps are a challenge for seniors. Overall: well worth the effort.

    Very good food and cozy atmosphere in Nevada City. We had a kale salad, squash soup and a mushroom fettuccine that was cooked to perfection. The menu is fresh and creative and the portions were ample. Prices were very reasonable. We’ll be back!

    The lights were too bright. The music was too hip/hop and not dinner music. The waitress accidently ordered a meal that we didn't want. The arugula salad with figs only had 3 small pieces of figs, not enough to advertise figs on the salad. No where on the website when reserving our table did it say we would be sitting upstairs. My 75 year old mother could hardly walk up the stairs after just having foot surgery and I wouldn't have booked at your restaurant knowing we would have to go up stairs. I won't be returning to your restaurant.

    Wonderful food but you do not get much for the pricing (?) / this restaurant could really ELEVATE the entire experience by offering some wonderful warm bread and butter for the table(?) service was adequate but they were not very friendly - overall an ok experience but not much food for the price… interesting historic building.

    The service was nothing short of horrendous. We waited over 30 minutes for our drinks and then another 30 just to place our order. Ordered the Petrale sole and it was amazingly bland and sparse on the plate. I would NEVER go back.

    We really enjoyed our meal at The Stone House. The food was excellent (I did ask for a little salt). They have a fun happy hour idea, basically you get a free drink with the order of an appetizer. The prices are not cheap but better than many other places these days. The portions are not large (even the large plate) but you do not walk away hungry or unsatisfied. The venison dish was agreed to be the best venison ever. The staff is lovely and very attentive. The ambiance of the upstairs dining room was warm and inviting. The downstairs feels a little cavernous and cold. It would be nice if they could do something about the parking lot. I am sure it is a city responsibility but it makes it a little confusing the first time you visit. Will definitely go back to try some more of their delicious and unique dishes!

    This is a terrific dining option in Nevada City. The food was delicious, the interior was gorgeous and they offer a full bar with some nice cocktail offerings. We started with cocktails and the "white" pizza -- which we managed to devour despite the large size. The crust was perfection. For main course, I had the fried chicken and my dining companion had the venison. Both were excellent. The fried chicken came with two boneless pieces of chicken with an excellent breading. My friend love the venison (and he can be picky about his meats). We shared a chocolate mousse for dessert. Sadly, they did not yet have any coffee drinks available to accompany the dessert. We definitely intend to return soon.

    Inventive but not precious, creative pairing of ingredients and flavors. Pureed chestnut w a hint of vanilla under tender slices of venison with huckleberry drizzle, perfection!

    Wonderful ambiance, a lovely historic building with various spaces. The food was excellent, but unfortunately the service was not. We felt like they were overwhelmed with various events going on, not sure who our server was. Took 15-20 minutes just to be seated and another 40 minutes to get our drinks. Food came out sporadically. My friends were served all of their items but two of mine were forgotten, they came out quickly once I got someone’s attention. Overall a great experience, since we were also there to enjoy the music, but we almost missed the opening act due to the delays in service.

    Excellent experience except for the wobbly table :). The courses were all excellent or outstanding and the wine parings were generally right on. Great attention to detail. Fun experience and will recommend highly to friends.

    This is an amazing old stone building with a long history. The restaurant benefits from a wonderful ambience. For whatever reasons, though, service was almost nonexistant. We were shown to a table in the rear courtyard, then abandoned. I had to go find someone to take our order, and later find someone to pay our bill. Food was OK; I had buttermilk chicken which was a bit overcooked accompanied by salty arugula. The Mole didn't have much flavor. All told, a bit disappointing.

    We were a group of 4 in the area for a wedding and chose this restaurant having no idea just how good the food would be. The menu isn’t huge but the flavor of the food is delicious. In my opinion this is a fun place to dine. We will defiantly be back.

    We were so pleased with our dinner and venue at the Stone House. My husband and I shared 4 or 5 small plates. He had a glass of wine and I had a cocktail. Service was good. We were greeted immediately at the front door...

    I loved my dinner at The Stone House. Everyone at my table was very impressed with the chef and staff. The food was amazing, and the service was friendly and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant for a fine dining experience in Nevada City. They also have a great happy hour menu.

    Feel like we found a hidden gem. We were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in. They have several dining spaces (indoor and outdoor). We asked for the best table in the house and we’re escorted upstairs. They offer several cocktails. We brought our own wine, so did not look at the wine list this trip. Menu offers small plates, salads, and entrees. We started with the shrimp and the beef and lamb meatballs! Both were delicious. Arugula salad with grilled stone fruit was light and refreshing. Entrees included fried chicken, fettuccini, and plant based lasagne, which was full of fantastic flavor and texture. The ambience is charming, the food is delicious, and our server was excellent. One wish: Would be nice to have a more substantial napkin. The restaurant has no linens on the tables and provides paper dinner napkins. I get that this reduces their costs. But fur as nice as the place and menu is, maybe switch to the larger “linen-like” sturdy paper napkins. The ones that are thick and have some fibers that really absorb while protecting your lap.

    The food was a lot better than we expected! The prawns were done nicely, albondigas were great & the burrata salad was excellent! I'm glad they're back! I hope they continue to explore this type of cooking. This town needs them!! Thanks!

    We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at the Stonehouse Restaurant in Nevada City, Ca. Under new management and with a new, very creative and talented chef our meal and experience was what we'd hoped for. We had a delicious arugula and apricot salad followed with starter plates of mole chicken, grilled shrimp and scallops. The glazed apricots were so tasty and the mole sauce impeccable. Great serving staff, enthusiastic bartender and a very welcoming atmosphere. There was even a guitar player. Please stop by and support this newly energized eatery.

    The most tasteless fried chicken I’ve ever had in my life. No seasoning, potatoes seemed to have no salt or pepper or butter. The “Spicy” dipping sauce was extremely watered down. Server was super nice and sweet but she was the only thing that place had going for it.

    Best place in town and the area definitely… Is all a culinary experience to go to the tasting menu going on one time at month is just delicious and you can feel the love creativity and experience of the chef in any dish, is art :) totally worth it in all the levels! Also in normal menu all the dishes are just amazing , the service is really nice and gentle and the place is an old original beautiful and cozy ambient for enjoy everything there , also a lot of funny parties and events , 100% recommended :)
