The Stoke House
Well positioned and good food and service. Will go again.
Lots of undisclosed fees in our bill. The daily drink special was unclear and I ended up paying for a drinking I did not intend on getting.
Business lunch. Good price, great food. The service was fast and efficient. It was very quiet when we visited so it may not be as good when busy- but I will be happy to return and find out- the food was VERY good.
Food was enjoyable and salmon was delicious, but roast beef had some large areas of fat which lowered the portion size. Cocktails were great and staff were very friendly, I marked this down though as they werechecking in too regularly and interrupting our conversation and meal; personal preference as I know others like this type of service.
My family and I dined here for my birthday on Sunday. We were disappointed that a large number of the items on the menu had run out and we were not told until we ordered. However, the staff were very friendly and did try to make up for the problem which was appreciated (and it was not the waiting staff’s fault). The food that we did have in the end was very nice, and they gave me a lovely birthday surprise for my dessert.
There were no lamb left nor brewdog beers, which is why I booked at the Stoke House in first instance. We then had the meat feast which was really good.
I never write reviews but I booked this for Fathers day - the meat we had was tough and badly cooked, the vegetables overcooked., the waiting staff were unable to accommodate special requests and didnt look up from their iPads when taking orders.
it is a noisy restaurant with very little ambiance but that wouldn't have mattered if the food lived up to what they put on their website. Sorry but won't be going anywhere near it again.
This was my 4th visit to The Stoke House after watching Hamilton at the Victoria Palace. The food is reasonably priced and delicious, and the staff are always welcoming, efficient and courteous. The location is excellent and the atmosphere in the Stoke House is lively but not too loud. I would definitely recommend the Stoke House to anyone for a pre or post theatre meal.
My daughter and I ate at the Stoke House before the Hamilton show. We really enjoyed it, food and service was really good and the restaurant has a great vibe. Our food, drinks and desert came really quick and we had no problems getting to the show on time. Thanks!
The food was excellent, but service, although friendly, was overbearing. Various waiting staff kept coming to the table one after the other to ask if ready to order, even when asked to come back in 5 minutes. Didn't really have time to look at menus, or have a chat. We were wanting to be able to have a relaxing lunch, but it was quite stressful having the staff constantly coming to the table. We could understand if the restaurant was crowded and they needed to shift the tables, but it was a very quiet day.
Amazing food, happy hour cocktails and great service! Would definitely go back!
We had the smoked meat platter for two. Presentation was poor and the platter was placed down by the waiter without any detail of what was on the plate. The food was ok on the whole but wouldn’t be excited about going back. It is a nice looking restaurant inside though
Booked this restaurant prior to theatre matinee performance, was in walking distance so was perfect location. However the food was not great for the money I would have expected a lot better quality food. The service was slow and this was not due to the number of diners.
Ordered two cocktails and the Sunday dinner for two. The food arrived within minutes of our cocktails; and took too much time to get the server’s attention to order wine. Service felt rushed and not up to standard.
Food was very good. Ambience was good, too. For the money, service was a letdown.
food is OK, but the service is really good and friendly
Delicious food, although it arrived alarmingly quickly after we ordered. The waitress was overkeen though and we felt very rushed even though we still had the table for more than thirty minutes. I had told them it was our wedding anniversary but the waitress interrupted us numerous times pushing for us to order dessert or more drinks. It was a shame because the food was very tasty with perfectly cooked meat and lovely flavours. The cocktails were good too. Would go back but would insist on a slower pace.
some personable service people tough meat
limited wine by the glass
i smoke meat and it is not dry like Stoke
Absolutely terrible. The food was appalling. Three of us ordered steak which came with sweet potato. The sweet potato was so burnt it was not edible. I ordered a medium steak this was raw on the inside and burnt on the outside. It was one of the worse meals i have ever had and most tables were sending their food back.
Very tastey food, great cocktails.
Service was good and staff helpful although a little less attentive once it got busy.
Nice food and atmosphere.
The waiter comes every 15 mins and ask how we are doing or what we are going to have next is a bit exhausting though.
We brought our parents to London to see Wicked. We picked this place due to proximity. We had an excellent experience because of the wonderful fare and service. The wait staff works together to make sure you have everything you need. The food is fresh and delicious.
Lovely food and atmosphere. Can be quite noisy at times if you are sat in the middle of the restaurant.
Definitely go for a drink and small bite. Great place to meet up with friends. Food is reasonable.
Lovely venue. Attentive and helpful staff.
We had the meat selection mixed grill £21 per person Lamb and short ribs very tender. Chicken leg succulent however breast of chicken a little dry.Generous portion size The dish also came with sauted potatoes which were tasty. We had a side dish of Mixed vegetables a little overcooked. The side dish of mac and cheese was generous and very tasty. . We were going to see Hamilton a great bonus the restaurant is just 2 minutes walk away. Forgot to mention house red wine was excellent and the cappuccino was smooth and creamy.
£68 for 2 people not the cheapest but worth it.
attentive service and food/drink was Good. Ambience I liked, not too casual and not too formal.
Its my second visit here. This time we tried the pre-theatre menu which was top-notch. The food was still really delish at a high standard and the waitress was very attentive, always approaching our table with a smile. The happy hour cocktails were also great value and definately not watered down. Will definately recommend and definately go back! :)
The team was lovely with us. We were 8 people + 3 babies. Our table was orignially in the middle of the restaurant, butensure we would be confortable with the babies the team gave us a bigger space.
The waiter made sure we had everything we wanted.
Awesome food and service! Enjoyed the entire experience appetizer through dessert.
First visit, but a great experience. Searched the internet to find somewhere to eat pre-theatre and wasn't disappointed ! I chose Cornish Rump of Beef for my main course and it was delicious. My partner had Halloumi Salad, which she said was equally nice !
We enjoyed a good dinner for two: belly of lamb and pork chops, after sharing a beetroot salad. Then we had coffee to round it off. All the dishes tasted good but I would like my pork chops to be more done and less pink, and the fat more rendered. It was a nice evening. Only criticism was that because of the open-plan kitchen, we felt the air circulation could be improved.
We had the pre-theatre menu which I thought was good value. Our mains were tasty and substantial and the desserts were delicious. The chocolate mousse was wonderful.
Very good food especially the meat dishes that had a smoked element
I've been here a few times and will certainly return back as it was a great lunch.
The food was delicious - we had a roast and the yorkshire puddings were especially good! Loved the unlimited drinks too.
The service was over the top! We were borderline hassled! Once they realised we weren’t in a rush it was fine
My son and I were attending the evening performance of Hamilton. We chose The Stoke House due to it’s proximity to the theatre and also it was recommended by the hotel that we were staying in. We were certainly not disappointed! We were having the pre theatre meal which was excellent value for money. The quality was superb and the drinks weren’t overpriced. All in all, an excellent restaurant. One that I shall recommend and will certainly return if I have the good fortune to return to London.
Very enjoyable food, perfect for a pre-theatre meal and drink
It was so loud with pumping music we could not have a conversation without screaming. The steaks were v thin, not thick and juice. The menu selection is v small, no salads.
Dived in for a quick pre-show meal. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. Need to change the music that seemed to be on a continuous two minute loop...but thats being picky.
Arrived early but our table was ready, we had a choice. Drinks menu was given to us promptly. Food menu followed, had to ask for pre theatre menu. Choose off this good value but the steak I chose was recommended to be rare to medium cooked, that was a No No for me. So we both choose from the main menu. A varied choice of meats. Didn't wait too long, sipping a cocktail and people watching. Steak melted like butter in your mouth. Not a huge amount of food but enough. Desert menu was limited, but enjoyed. Waiter was very vigilant just standing behind us hovering a little, he was pleasant. Would recommend the stoke house especially if you want a steak.
Great restaurant serving good choice of delicious food. Good location too.
