About The Stockyards Restaurant & 1889 Saloon

Arizona's Original Steakhouse.

Step through the copper entry doors and feel the warm authentic atmosphere of this classic American Steakhouse. Once adjacent to the largest feedlot in the world, the restaurant is a living history museum that documents Arizona's cattle industry with historical photos and a Western Art collection. Established in 1947, The Stockyards has been serving the best hand-cut aged steaks and prime rib for 70 years. The menu also features wild game, seafood, poultry, pork, and a wide variety of appetizers, salads and desserts. Be sure to visit the 1889 Saloon where you will find a solid mahogany hand carved bar, crystal chandeliers, and walls adorned with original murals that were painted in the 50's. Step back in time and relax while you enjoy an Arizona landmark. Banquet space and private dining rooms are available, and The Stockyards is always an excellent choice for groups.

We enjoyed the veggies and dip that our waiter brought and the muffins and biscuits with honey butter were amazing. My husband had a NY strip that he enjoyed and I had a 5oz fillet that was good but i should have ordered it med rare unstead of medium. My bad. The salad was especially good as were the sweet potatoes.

My wife and I celebrated many occasions there. Our experience Monday night was horrible. What was suppose to be walleye, had bones & scales (walleye does not have scales) it was a different kind of fish. My wife had a ribeye, that was so tough, that she left most of it. Very disappointing!

Great steakhouse in an interesting building that is now on the historic register. Filet and Ribeye were wonderful with several choices of sauces from bernaise sauce to whiskey peppercorn glaze.

My steak and lobster was great but my husband's meal (a trio) was not great at all very over priced, small portioned and fish was dry and over cooked.

Food and ambiance were excellent. The ONLY thing that would be better: we understand the restaurant did not open until later, so it would have been nice if the lounge/bar area was open early for us to enjoy an adult beverage before we were seated.

The Stockyards is the best place in the Valley for steak. Their steak is better than any of the chain type places and the service is always outstanding.

Usually a great steak, however this time it was so heavily salted I could not tell you how it tasted other than like salt.

Great place to have a great meal. Alice, our waitress provided first class service carefully explaining the menu items in detail. We have been at this fine dining restaurant in the past and look forward to our next visit.

The prime rib was inedible, they did replace with a new piece, not worth the amount paid. The lobster was sub-par. The rest of the meal was good but not worth the cost. Despite everything, the service was excellent!

I've eaten at steakhouses all across the US- NYC, Texas, Chicago and more and Stockyards is as good as any of them. Steak cooked to perfection, sides perfect and service actually the best I've had. If you're in Phoenix you have to eat at the Stockyards. You won't be disappointed.

We were headed to the Celebrity Yheater and short on time. We ended up getting a great meal with excellent service and would highly recommend the Stockyards! Their steaks are delicious, prepared perfectly and very reasonable in price. Our waiter provided excellent and attentive service while making sure we would get th the theater on time. We even managed to squeeze in a piece of their delicious strawberry cheesecake for dessert! Highly recommended!

The Stockyard can always be counted on for a good steak and great service. It is somewhat informal, but it does not feel 'casual' either. We have been there often enough that when we enter they say "we have your favorite table ready". That's the start of the great service. Needless to say we will be going back - again and again.

Steak was Ok, not spectacular. It contained more gristle than we prefer and was not lean enough. Flavor was good and service was attentive. For what we paid, the meal was a disappointment.

My husband has been here for lunch and raved about it which is why we chose to go there for my sons birthday. The highlight of the meal was our waitress. She was attentive and friendly. The rest of the meal was unimpressive. The food was cold to lukewarm and the flavor was ok but nothing great.
I made a reservation and we were seated at the first table when you enter which was the worst table in the restaurant. Then a large party sat right next to us and we were unable to even have a conversation - it was that loud. It had a bar feel rather than an upscale restaurant.

We come fifty miles up the freeway for a great plate of meat. We had three great steak plates, one trout, the sides and two bottles of good wine for a fair price. Our waiter and his staff were professional attentive and spot on for service. This is a well run steak house with the right ambiance.
