The Stockyards Restaurant & 1889 Saloon
Step through the copper entry doors and feel the warm authentic atmosphere of this classic American Steakhouse. Once adjacent to the largest feedlot in the world, the restaurant is a living history museum that documents Arizona's cattle industry with historical photos and a Western Art collection. Established in 1947, The Stockyards has been serving the best hand-cut aged steaks and prime rib for 70 years. The menu also features wild game, seafood, poultry, pork, and a wide variety of appetizers, salads and desserts. Be sure to visit the 1889 Saloon where you will find a solid mahogany hand carved bar, crystal chandeliers, and walls adorned with original murals that were painted in the 50's. Step back in time and relax while you enjoy an Arizona landmark. Banquet space and private dining rooms are available, and The Stockyards is always an excellent choice for groups.
One of the best meals I've ever had! Prime rib was fantastic. Cant wait to go back.
Our food was delicious. Our waiter, Tom, was outstanding - attentive, but unobtrusive. The entire experience was delightful!
Everything is top notch. Wait staff is excellent. Food is excellent and so is the atmosphere. Enjoy the Stock Yards restaurant every time we go. Highly recommend.
Nice evening, nothing exceptional but low key and tasty
Always a great place to dine. Especially if you are a carnivore. Though my girlfriend had the trout and it was perfect. I had the NY strip. Grilled to perfection accompanied with a baked potato. We dined fairly early, 1730, in the saloon. About an hour later it really began to fill up along with the separate dining rooms. Service was excellent. Attentive but not obtrusive. An old school restaurant that still serves a relish tray beforehand. We dined on a Saturday evening so if you are looking for a bit quieter experience you may want to choose a weekday.
Stockyards is a piece of Arizona history. We love the food and venue - old photos of what Phoenix used to be. Great steaks and good service -
Pretty pricey. Don't get me wrong, it was a good steak but wow I can get a good steak at a lot of places for a lot less. Our waiter was good and the atmosphere was nice. Overall can't give a higher rating just due to the price.
We have ate here 3 times . First time was the best second time I ordered the filet they asked if they could butterfly it I said ok I could only eat half so asked for take home box they took into back said sorry it fell on the floor third time baked potato was warm the waitresse didn't come back till we were half through our meal
Might be OK for dinner, but not suitable for business lunch as it is far too noisy!
Outstanding. Eat in the bar for the best experience
Excellent service, a good selection and well presented. The ambiance was excellent as usual. I love the historic presentation.
We had one of the best experiences yet. The service was spot on, the food was perfect in every way and their bar is a great place to meet before you're seated. We decided to revisit this restaurant next time we're in Phoenix.
Great spot to get a great steak in Phoenix !!
The Stockyards never disappoints, but our server, Mark, made this visit above and beyond the usual exceptional dining experience. We were celebrating our son’s birthday and Mark was very attentive and made us all feel special on this special day.
It was great
The lobster tails did not have any seasoning whatsoever. The prime rib came out cold and the mashed potatoes were cold as well.
Nothing special, food is overpriced for what you get. Would have enjoyed Ruth’s Chris much more for the same pricepoint.
Best Steaks Ever!!!!
my husband's steak was tough and gristle... new york....
the server took it back and replaced it with a better cut... still did not have the outstanding flavor he desired.
my prime rib was good... but the brocollini was tough and not cooked enough.
had to ask for more corn bread... wasn't offered.
The steak and service were excellent. Because I have many allergies, I had difficulties with their menu. I hope they will consider some gluten-free options and tone down the number of things that contain garlic. But, except for that, it was an enjoyable evening.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday just the two of us. It was a great experience.
Great food attention to detail
Love the menu, history and staff. We had 4 ladies for lunch after our tour of the Tovrea Castle.
Perfect place to end up. All longtime residents of Phoenix and Scottsdale. Been waiting a long time
to finally tour and catch up on Tovrea history.
Thanks for asking.
First time there, great experience! Would recommend to others to try out!
Food was excellent. I had a bison sirloin which was amazing. My wife and our guest had the fillet... you literally could cut them with a butter knife. Very tender and delicious flavor. Wine list was excellent and very reasonable. Well done
The Stockyards is one of my favorite restaurants when I am in central Phoenix. I like the filet and rib-eye steaks, salad and whiskey mashed sweet potatoes.
The perfect place for an introductory business meeting because it is quiet and, yet, conversation won't be overheard because of the placement of the booths and tables, and because the food is excellent and the service superb without being obtrusive.
Excellent steakhouse with wonderful service! Helped us celebrate my fiance's birthday and made it extra special. Food was delicious and highly recommend the potato stack.
Very dissapointing meal. To start off the waiter was overly jovial to the point of annoying...as there were very few diners he had many opportunities to annoy us. Then the less than appetizing meals came. We had the signature cut rib-eye and a rack of ribs. The ribs were dry and the steak was way over-priced ($75). We were there for a birthday celebration which was only recognized at the hostess area with "Whose birthday is it?" Such a shame as we picked this restaurant in hopes it would be a nice place to celebrate a special day.
Dinner reservation was set up from 1500 miles away as a special birthday dinner for our son. The management and staff made sure everything was perfect and allowed me to take care of the bill. Birthday dessert was an added bonus!! They loved everything about the evening including the dinner and ambience. Thank you again !
I decided to have the prime rib for dinner. it was a special occasion and we looked forward to dinner. My prime rib was tough, too much connective tissue and fat. At least 30% of my meat was fat. also there was little to no seasoning on the meat. my last time here.
Our server was amazing. This restaurant is first class. The menu was very interesting and had great options.
Great place to go for Classic Food, Service, and overall Dining Experience. Not inexpensive but a nice treat. Go early and enjoy the nice Happy Hour in the Saloon too.
Sat in the Saloon as it seemed quieter and had a great, carved wood bar. Ordered several sharables off the bar "starters" menu (and drinks) and was not disappointed. Owner came to talk to us, server Tracey was great - friendly and relaxed.
We recently had a 6 1/2 hour layover at Sky Harbor airport in Phoenix, so I booked a table at Stockyards since it is very close to the airport. We were greeted at the door (rolling our suitcases in behind us) by the hostess who offered to let us leave these with her, which we did. I had read that this place is a piece of local history and upon entering it was easy to see why. From the magnificent hand carved mahogany bar to the artwork to the fireplaces, it has the feel of a someplace special even before you get to the food. I told the hostess that I had looked for a restaurant that looked cool, was highly rated and was close to the airport and she responded “well, that’s us,”. We each had a different cut of steak, both of which were excellent and we each had a different side which were also both excellent. We managed to split a desert (also excellent) even though we should have stopped after dinner. After this wonderful experience, we asked the hostess to call us a cab to get back to the airport, which she did. When they didn’t arrive in a timely fashion, she called again and was told that the cab would be there in 10 minutes or less. When it was not, she had one of the waiters drive us back to the airport! Now that is customer service like I’ve never seen. Even though the airport is only a mile and a half away, I was so impressed by this level of customer service (being a business owner myself) that I would return just for this reason...but the food is so good that you should go, even if you don’t need a ride to the airport afterwards! Seriously, the Stockyards is well worth the trip no matter where you are coming from.
The Stockyards is a valley institution. The decor is gorgeous, the food and service outstanding. If you don't want to drive there is a light rail stop out front. A great place to celebrate or take out of town guests.
The best food we have had in a very long time. While visiting Phoenix, we decided we wanted a good steak dinner and was presently surprised. We received impeccable service provided by the entire staff, delectable flavoring with starting the appetizer, our main courses, and especially dessert. Some may feel it's pricey but it's worth v every penny and then some. Would recommend 100% every time to anyone asking. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Stockyards was absolutely amazing. Took my fiance for her birthday, she wanted a "good steak and delicious baked potato", and she got exactly what she was looking for! As soon as we walked in, the hostess welcomed us and looked up the reservations and immediately greeted my finance with a very warm "Happy Birthday" welcome. After being seated, the waitress also greeted in the same fashion. The food was absolutely perfect and the service was impeccable. The pricing on the food was on point, actually very well priced overall! Between the history of the restaurant, the cleanliness, the service and the delicious food, I would not hesitate to go again! My one and only change I would make on my next visit, I would sit in the bar/lounge area, as the main restaurant area was VERY loud! I would NOT let this keep you from going, I am sure this was because there was three large groups of people seated in the area. OVERALL AMAZING EXPERIENCE!
My family was visiting from California and we were celebrating a birthday. It was an amazing tasteful dinner and the service was equally as great. We ordered a variety of items from steaks, to lobster, and salmon. Everyone was very happy with their meal especially it being the first time for all of us!
Our go-to place when wanting a good meal and service. The prime rib is outstanding and so is everything else we’ve had. There is so much food we usually end up taking a substantial amount home- yummy meal again the next day!
The booth seating is very comfortable and the table is large. A group of people near us was celebrating something and the noise decreased substantially after they left.
We highly recommend The Stockyards for special occasions and regular dining. Oh, they did have a nice desert for my husband’s birthday.
