The Stockyards Restaurant & 1889 Saloon
Step through the copper entry doors and feel the warm authentic atmosphere of this classic American Steakhouse. Once adjacent to the largest feedlot in the world, the restaurant is a living history museum that documents Arizona's cattle industry with historical photos and a Western Art collection. Established in 1947, The Stockyards has been serving the best hand-cut aged steaks and prime rib for 70 years. The menu also features wild game, seafood, poultry, pork, and a wide variety of appetizers, salads and desserts. Be sure to visit the 1889 Saloon where you will find a solid mahogany hand carved bar, crystal chandeliers, and walls adorned with original murals that were painted in the 50's. Step back in time and relax while you enjoy an Arizona landmark. Banquet space and private dining rooms are available, and The Stockyards is always an excellent choice for groups.
Food was absolutely wonderful. Wish our waiter did not feel that he had to touch us every time he interacted with us. But he was very attentive to our needs. Table next to us was rather loud. Glad when they finished and left.
I would say it’s worth one trip just to say you’ve been to this part of Arizona history.
The service was very good.
It’s a typical steakhouse. Nothing very special, in my opinion.
Their signature side, the Parmasian Stack, didn’t impress us.
Overall, our meal was great. The prices are very high - my only real complaint.
i ordered the special, which seemed way overpriced for the cut of meat that i received. The asparagus was over cooked as well.
This was our first visit to The Stockyards. Our party of four was seated at a table and promptly waited on. We had just received our water and a large and noisy party came in and was seated next to us. We immediately realized that our dining and conversation would be quite hindered due to the large party next to us. My husband discreetly spoke with the host/wait staff and we were graciously moved to a much quieter part of the dining room. The remainder of our evening was superb food and detailed service. We will definitely be returning. Thank you Stockyard!
As always, great food, great service & great atmosphere. Will keep going back.
This was my second time here and everything was perfect. The service was especially good. And the steaks were perfection. Highly recommended!
I love the atmosphere of The Stockyards Restaurant, the hostess, waiters/waitresses, and of course the chefs who all made our dining experience wonderful. The ribeye was juicy and delicious and no need to add any additional flavoring. The pecan pie was superb and not sweet like most I’ve have at other restaurant. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone who loves a good steak.
If your intent is to share a good time with close friends or family this is a wonderful place to do so. It also is a great business lunch atmosphere as it is festive and comforting.
The food is very good but we would go to The Stockyard even if it was terrible just to have Mark as our waiter. A true character who clearly loves his job, Mark always makes us feel welcome and, as we live in San Diego and are only occasional visitors to the
Phoenix/Tempe area, it’s great to feel at home somewhere. But the food is anything but terrible - I LOVE the elk - and we go to The Stockyard every time we’re in town.
Waiter continued to touch my brother in-laws shoulder every time he came to the table it was unnecessary and he didn’t like that contact. Not very professional. Also added a $100+ bottle of wine to our receipt that we had to disput. Great food.
Your basic steak house. Nothing special.
Service was great. While I’m glad I experienced it from a historical perspective, I likely won’t return due to how expensive the main course was compared to the flavor of the meat. It isn’t that the food was bad... just feel it was overly expensive for meal and experience.
Food was amazing, staff and service was on point. Would highly recommend this fine establishment to anyone looking for a great steakhouse. Little tip order the mushrooms Rockefeller save the extra for your steak.
Fantastic food and service. A bit pricey, but fun to go once in a while.
Great place for a nice, quiet date. Staff and food were amazing. Highly recommend this establishment.
We went here based on a reco from a friend. We were on vacation with our fam of 4. Two kids, 10 and 8. Server was great. Very accommodating. We sat in a nice large booth. Probably room for 6. Kids menu was pretty standard fair, chicken fingers and Mac and cheese. Our kids often prefer to order off the regular menu. This time they opted for the Mac and cheese and fish sticks from the kids menu. They both picked at their food. It was far from devoured. Stockyards is very kid friendly, they were great and accommodating, but the kids menu was bland and typical, although not terrible value at 8 bucks. After a week on vaca, we were hoping for something a little more healthy for our kiddos. We
both started with the house salad with blue cheese dressing. Salads were fine. Nothing awe inspiring but not bad. Fine. For our mains,I opted for the 14 oz NY strip, and my wife went for the 5 oz filet. Both were cooked very much to our liking, just didn’t wow us. This restaurant was not bad at all, but between you and I, when I get a bill for north of $200, I expect to leave thinking about how great dinner was. It was decent, just not great. I was expecting great.
I always love this place for privacy and special occasions; today was taking an employee celebrating their transfer to another department. The food was excellent, she had the Hamburger with mushrooms and fries and I had the fish and chips. The service was friendly and fast.
Always a good, solid steak dinner here. Great historical western atmosphere.
Waiter was not attentive to our needs. Had to ask the water guy for bread and to let our waiter know we were ready to order. Steak was greasy and very bland for the price. It was dark and I thought the price of my steak was 24 dollars but it was 24 ounce. Never ordered 24 ounce steak in my life. Don’t hardly even eat meat. My mistake and I was sad but had to pay..... sweet potatoes were ice cold and no flavour. For first time going to this restaurant which had an extremely high noice volume and poor service. Whole experience was not what I was hoping for with my date who just flew in to Phoenix that day and I wanted him to enjoy the ambiance. I never give a bad review but I had to comment as the price for everything was high the experience was low.
Excellent food & service. Very noisy, which was mentioned to me during our lunch by another member of our party who wears hearing aids and struggled to have a conversation across the table. I don't wear hearing aids, and I agree.
Food was just okay, have had much better for the same money. Service was very slow and not very good. Would probably not go back.
We sat in the old bar room - the murals on the walls are fabulous. The bar itself is a beautiful relic of a time long gone. Service was excellent, attentive but unobtrusive. Great steaks, salads and soup. Entrees include side and soup or salad - not common in steak houses anymore. Noise level was really terrific. We were 5 at the table, 3 senior citizens, and no one had any trouble hearing the conversation. That alone was worth the drive, but the cuisine and historic room made it special.
Took my wife here for her Birthday. Haven’t been here in many years, but it’s the same great atmosphere I remember. Everything from the drinks, appetizers and dinner entrée was great! The best thing of the whole evening was are waiter . He was full of spark! His energy and the way he carried himself made the made the night complete. I just wish I could remember his name! I would highly recommend The Stockyards to anyone.....
Best Ribeye ever! Since the small steak was still big enough for two meals it is a great value. Service was exceptional.
Omg! We had the best meal for our anniversary dinner! I had the ribeye and my husband had the NY strip. Both were cooked perfectly as well as our sides. Would definitely visit here again!
We had a reservation for 7:30pm and we were seated upon arrival.
The crudités, biscuits and cornbread were fresh and nice appetite appeasers until our entrees arrived.
I had the pork tenderloin chop dinner; it was delicious. The chop was cooked perfectly, vegetables crisp, and the sweet potato mash was sweet enough that I didn’t need dessert. And the food was hot, hot, hot when it arrived which I appreciate.
My husband had the bison meatloaf dinner; he liked it. I had a bite. The bison meatloaf is definitely a different texture than a hamburger meatloaf but it was still good. If I had ordered it, I would’ve added salt & pepper because it tasted a bit bland.
My son had the 12 oz. prime rib dinner. I had a bite of his; I thought it was good. My son said that he’s had better. (The four stars on value is taking into account my son’s opinion.) Do with that what you will - two different opinions on the same plate.
The service was fantastic. We never had to ask to get our water glasses refilled or my husband’s iced tea. My son and I shared a bottle of red wine, Malbec, from Argentina, it was very smooth with rich berry notes. The waiter was very attentive but not intrusive.
I was surprised that it wasn’t busier for a Friday night but I’m not complaining! Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal.
We had a wonderful dinner with friends! Our server Alice was smart, bright, attentive and charming !! She made everyone feel welcome. We will definitely be back!!
One of the best restaurants around. Great wine list. Excellent for cocktails and dining. Service is always great. Management very attentive. The guys new favorite are the ribs. Love Stockyards!
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. It is a wonderful special occasion restaurant.
Very slow service, defeaning level of ambient noise, food was slightly better than mediocre, much less than you would expect from the prices.
Second time here, this time with out of town friends. Food was just as good as the first time and our server, Dawn, was great. Can't wait to come back.
We have lived in Arizona for 15 years and we finally ate at this restaurant. What a jem! Everything was great! We will be bringing out of town guests here, Great food and atmosphere.
besides the food that is always wonderful we always try to ask for Alice because she makes our experience wonderful each and every time
Delicious steaks were served. We wanted a place that served Prime Rib and Filet Mignon and we were pleased with our selection of restaurants. On top of that there was a special Buffalo rib-eye steak that was ordered. It was similar to beef but leaner was his top comment. There is road construction nearby so entering the restaurant was a bit tricky. Our first table was near the bar, since a few of our party are hearing impaired we requested a change of location. We were accommodated quickly. Over all a great night at the restaurant.
The food and the service were absolutely fantastic! I got the Arizona cut ribeye and the wife got the herb roasted half chicken. Both were excellent and prepared to perfection. I can't say enough about our host Jon. He was amazingly knowledgeable, friendly and accurate. We were in town for one day looking for a nice dinner out and our visit here was absolutely perfect on every level. Stockyards is an absolute can't miss.
We have always enjoyed Stockyard, this visit was not as enjoyable as in the past.
Usually everything is outstanding, but this time the prime rib wasn't very tasty.
Our waiter Ron was excellent! The food was excellent, also, we found a varied selection of appetizing items on the menu. We will certainly return for another enjoyable evening.
Nice classic steak house.
