The Stockyards Restaurant & 1889 Saloon
Step through the copper entry doors and feel the warm authentic atmosphere of this classic American Steakhouse. Once adjacent to the largest feedlot in the world, the restaurant is a living history museum that documents Arizona's cattle industry with historical photos and a Western Art collection. Established in 1947, The Stockyards has been serving the best hand-cut aged steaks and prime rib for 70 years. The menu also features wild game, seafood, poultry, pork, and a wide variety of appetizers, salads and desserts. Be sure to visit the 1889 Saloon where you will find a solid mahogany hand carved bar, crystal chandeliers, and walls adorned with original murals that were painted in the 50's. Step back in time and relax while you enjoy an Arizona landmark. Banquet space and private dining rooms are available, and The Stockyards is always an excellent choice for groups.
Great food, great service!!!
Food, service, and atmosphere was very good. I would eat there again.
Our Waiter, Mark was amazing and very attentive. The food was spectacular. We even rang the bell!
Great go to steakhouse...much better than Durants!
Enjoyed a romantic evening for our 20th wedding anniversary at the Stockyards Restaurant. Our waiter Dan and his staff were very attentive and made us feel very welcomed for our first visit. The meal was delicious, ribeye steaks, baked potato and a mushroom skillet. Ended the meal with a delicious strawberry shortcake. We will definitely return.
Great site to relive early Phoenix History. Excellent food/service.
Service was very good and the tasted great. A little on expensive side
We have been there many times, but this was the first visit for our daughter. She loved it! Thanks so much to Dan, for making it such a nice night!!!! The food never disappoints!
We decided to try The Stockyards during Restaurant Week. Our server took the time to talk about the history of the restaurant and made some great recommendations for both wine and side dishes unique to the restaurant. The Stockyards gives a real 'old school' restaurant vibe including the quiet atmosphere and a return of a flash from the past...the relish tray. We were surrounded by diners conversing and enjoying the food as much as we did! The steaks were perfectly done and the prime rib was tasty. If you are looking for a great steak in a place that gives a quick nod to the past this is the place.
Arizona restaurant week is a great way to try new venues!
The food was good, for the price Restaurant week. I got thru half way and it was cold..... really
not good..... maybe they could of made it hotter? We missed Harry, guess he went off to other
things...... he was the best bartender..... a big loss for Stockyards......
We went for restaurant week. We got there early to enjoy a cocktail at the bar, our bartender was outgoing and mixed the perfect dirty martini. We had dinner in the main dining area and decided on the preset meal, we both enjoyed seafood bisque, filet Mignon and then followed it up with dessert; best cheesecake I’ve ever had. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and plan to go back.
amazing anniversary dinner for my parents 40th anniversary.
Not only fabulous beef but amazing New England clam chowder and really good salads.
We were entertaining a Canadian business guest for dinner. Two of us (party of three) ordered the special Bison Ribeye Steak. It was outstanding not to mention healthier than beef. We all loved the atmosphere as well.
Service was flawless. Food wonderful. I did ask for prime rib fat in to go box for dog....poor puppy not there:-/
The food was great and so was the service and ambience, but it was noisy- having said that though it was filled to capacity.
Would recommend it and will go back
We have been to the Stockyards in the past and have always had outstanding steaks...We were not disappointed again, the food was outstanding, the service professional and prompt. This is a classic steakhouse here in the Valley for over 70 yrs. Well worth the trip!!
Our guests and I enjoyed another great business luncheon complete with Jumbo fresh Shrimp Cocktails, Onion Rings, Salmon and Steak. The service by Dawn was excellent, the food was wonderful. Our guests were flattered that the proprietor Gary came by our table and introduced himself and checked on our experience. We each received a bonus bottle of their famous BBQ Sauce to take home and share with our families. Thank you Stockyards for the dining experience.
The staff was most accommodating in finding us a quiet table since one in our party is hard of hearing. Smoked trout appetizer was excellent & large enough to share. The 3 people in our party each had a different cut of steak and all of them were cooked perfectly. Wait staff was on top of things & just the right amount of friendly/attentive. We will definitely revisit the Stockyards Restaurant the next time we are in Phoenix.
We had never been The Stockyards before, fantastic!!
Always wanted to eat at The Stockyards and this was the first time I was able to get there in 32 years of living in the valley. I am from the north west which raises great beef but I have to say that this restaurant had the best steak I’ve had anywhere in Arizona. I will definitely return and try out more wonderful cuts of meat and recommend to all my friends as well. We hit it on restaurant week which was even more impressive. Didn’t dilute the quality or the service which can sometimes happen at other restaurants. Thank you for being and continuing to be a great restaurant with so much history to share along with superb and sumptuous food.
The staff was amazing, cheerful and responded quickly to requests. Thank you for the wonderful evening.
Alice, our server was terrific! Our meal was delicious too!
The Stockyards have never disappointed us in the 30 years we've been coming.
The restaurant is beautiful and it seems as though the atmosphere would be nice but it was SO LOUD. I was sitting right next to my husband and could barely hear him. If you're just going for the meat, it was delicious but way overpriced. The sides all left much to be desired. The service was mediocre for the price of the food. The cheesecake thankfully was delicious. We will not be returning.
Very good food, drinks and service was impeccable. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Prime Rib was flavorful and done just right. Our server was very informative and checked back frequently.
After living in the valley for over 20 years. I never visited the restaurant, I figured the pricing went along with the quality of food. boy was I wrong. I have no problem paying a premium for good quality food. I have to say it was the worst cut of Pork chop I have ever eating. Suppose to be prime cut Porterhouse pork chop. It had no seasoning, the meat was tough. I left half of. for $32 dollars I could have bought a piece at Frys and cooked it myself and taste better. My Parter had the Rib eye. Again overpriced for the way it was cooked. no seasoning on his as well. I would not recommend this place, they really need to look at the chiefs , I did not complain at the time, as it was not the waiters fault.
Excellent steak and great service.
Classic Arizona experience. Ambience is perfect, serving flawless and food excellent.
This was our first time at The Stockyards and it was a really good experience; the food was good, we've had better steaks but it was good. What made the experience really enjoyable was the history and learning more about the restaurant and those that have visited it in the years gone by. Our waiter was fantastic and gave us soooo much information and it really allowed us to enjoy the restaurant even that much more!! A really enjoyable evening!!
Stockyards is our first choice when entertaining our Top Account. The setting is roomy and comfortable. The servers are attentive, helpful, and friendly. They know the menu and are able to make great recommendations. I had the Salmon with the Pear Salad. The Salmon was a sizable portion that you do not normally get from most restaurants. You may pay a little more but you get what you pay for. We had Shrimp Cocktails that come with five jumbo fresh delicious tails and an order of Onion Rings which were crispy and not greasy. Our guests had entree's ranging from Filet to Bison Meatloaf and all were tantalized and pleased. Upon leaving, after our guests left, I met with the proprietor who was gracious and appreciative of our business.
Very inviting ambience. Felt instantly comfortable. Great food choices: I loved the Parmesan Potato Stack and the Roast Chicken and Wild Rice soup. In fact, I got some soup to take home!
Great steak, great service and nice atmosphere. Love the old photos hanging around the restaurant showing when it was a working stockyard. Lot of history behind saloon and restaraunt.
The parmesan potato stack was very salty. Everything else was delicious
The Stockyards isn't as swanky as some of other steakhouses in town, but it has a rustic/Western ambiance that is unique. There's even a "John Wayne" booth! The food is good - I had a filet with a wedge salad and my colleagues had the ribeye, preceded by shrimp cocktail. The waiter said that prime rib was their house specialty and perhaps I should have tried it, but I enjoyed my filet. The price point is in range with the other big steakhouses. If you haven't been there, I recommend checking it out. There are many excellent steakhouses in town that are chains and their food might arguably be a small notch better, but you can go to those places in Chicago, New York, LA, Dallas, etc. The Stockyards is local and one of a kind. I definitely recommend it for someone from out of town that is looking for more of a local dining experience.
My first visit here in decades. Had my Australian friends with me. Thought wine choices were good. Chopped steak good but rib eye very fatty. A bit disappointing for the price.
Fun, historic restaurant and saloon. Felt like I was back in the old west.
We went to the stockyards for our 5th wedding anniversary and the steaks were outstanding and melted in our mouths. They even gave us a dessert for our anniversary. It was a little louder than I would of liked. Some tables around us were quite loud.
I have gone to the stockyards for lunch several times and found it to be awesome. My dinner experience was not as good. The atmosphere was awesome, service at the bar was a little slow, our server was great but the food was off. The seafood soup was yummy and I should have stopped there. My Chop was over cooked and tuff. Others in my party thought their food was alright but certainly not worth the final bill. I will stick to lunch going forward.
