Arizona's Original Steakhouse.

Step through the copper entry doors and feel the warm authentic atmosphere of this classic American Steakhouse. Once adjacent to the largest feedlot in the world, the restaurant is a living history museum that documents Arizona's cattle industry with historical photos and a Western Art collection. Established in 1947, The Stockyards has been serving the best hand-cut aged steaks and prime rib for 70 years. The menu also features wild game, seafood, poultry, pork, and a wide variety of appetizers, salads and desserts. Be sure to visit the 1889 Saloon where you will find a solid mahogany hand carved bar, crystal chandeliers, and walls adorned with original murals that were painted in the 50's. Step back in time and relax while you enjoy an Arizona landmark. Banquet space and private dining rooms are available, and The Stockyards is always an excellent choice for groups.

Met a friend and her husband for a late lunch. They were here for the winter season and getting ready to return home next week. Since we did a late lunch were able to stay and visit for a long time and were not pressured to leave. The food was as very good as it always is. They were very impressed. This is a nice place to bring out-of-towners.

The appetizers were outstanding. The seafood chowder and the chili were both exceptional starters. The cornbread and the biscuits with the honey butter were fantastic, the chocolate mousse was tremendous. The mushroom steak butter was very good. The steak was very average, and that was disappointing. That was the difference between 3 stars and 5, because every thing else was exceptional. The server, Kent, was outstanding.

Food was some of the best steak i have ever had. Service was well above average too. Pricey but in line with comparable places. We will be back for sure.

The Stockyards is an excellent place to have a "special occasion" meal, but it is a little spendy for regular dining. On this occasion, we took an opportunity to fit in a visit before the Herberger show downtown.

Food, service and atmosphere at the bar and dining room were all that I remembered from a previous visit, some 10+ years ago. I was a little disappointed that inevitable urban growth had spoiled the environment outside, but pleased that management had kept the old time ambience inside.

All in all, I look forward to retuning to The Stockyards next time I am in Phoenix.

I do not like to complain but I ordered the prime rib medium came out rare and it was the toughest meet I’ve ever had in my life I ordered a salad and got soup I will say the soup was very good My other two guess also ordered the prime rib fattest toughest I’ve ever had virtually half of our prime rib was sitting on our plate when done on unedible maybe another day the prime rib would’ve been awesome

Food was very good. We had Filet Mignon and Elk medallions, all were cooked to perfection, side dishes were cooked and seasoned well. Noise level in the dining area was slightly too loud to converse comfortably but the wait staff was very attentive. Overall a very good dining experience.

I made a reservation despite the fact that it was a random Thursday, specifically so we would get a decent table. If we'd wanted to sit in the saloon (elbow to elbow with the people seated on either side of us, and unable to hear each other speak), we would have just walked in and sat in the saloon.

One of our kids was down from Minnesota. We stopped on way to take her back to airport. We have been here several times for occasions and just for no reason. It is a first choice for us in Phoenix. A little expensive for lunch but a good place to eat and see the crowd. We will go 2-3 times a year alone or with others. Hard to beat.

The food was amazing. I had the elk medallions. It was the most tender meat I have ever eating. The service was awesome. The reason for four stars- when you are spending that kind of money on a dinner for two it shouldn’t be so rushed. We were out of the restaurant in 45 minutes. It would have been nice to enjoy the awesome bread and relish tray and have some time to enjoy the ambiance as well as the amazng meal.

My second time here and it never disappoints. The steaks were excellent and done just right. The service was attentive but not hovering like some places. Price was a little on the higher side, but definitely worth it. The atmosphere is definitely a time capsule of Arizona in the early days.

I recommend it to anyone who wants a flavor of old Arizona.

Up scale warm and relaxing. Loved the wood, rustic setting leather booths. The service was excellent, server was personable, knowledgeable about wine and the food and just the right level of attentiveness. Chocolate mousse was amazing. I would definitely go back next time I was in Phoenix

The Stockyards is on our 'rotation' of restaurants that we dine at prior to the ballet or symphony. The food is excellent, and Mark's service was impeccable. They always have our same table waiting on us, so with good food and service we will be back again and again!

Classic. The Stockyards is a valley classic. "John Wayne ate here."
The happy hour in the saloon is electric and loud. Great for dinner or a drink before.
The legendary dining area is intimate and quiet and the service outstanding.
Highly recommend for that special occasion or date night.

Since I am on a restricted diet my wife and I shared a full rack of baby-back ribs which was absolutely delicious and we even brought some home. Our waiter was outstanding and even assisted with some group pictures in the bar area. Everyone in the group raved about the service and the food. A very pleasant evening with some dear friends in a very comfortable setting. Thanks for making it a great first experience at The Stockyards.

Good food, with friendly staff but no real ambiance to speak of.
Known and advertised as a whiskey saloon but served a $20 glass of whiskey in a small glass that appeared to be a juice glass more than a whiskey glass. To make it less appealing although requested on the rocks the glass was filled with chopped ice. Not impressive for a whiskey drinker.

We were entertaining friends from out of town and I wanted them to have a true Arizona experience (not a run of the mill chain restaurant they could get anywhere). I know of a few options but this one could not have been more perfect for our planning. Not too loud, balanced as not too fancy or casual, private seating, fantastic historical perspective uniquely Arizona, exceptional service and food. All in all just a perfect vehicle for our gathering!
