The Stinking Rose
Love coming here always get seated right away. All the waiters appear to work together they came to drop off our drinks, soup, appetizers, and main dishes and were very happy to be there. They don't constantly interrupt during your meal. The food is amazing!!!! I want to try everything on the menu I will definitely be back for mothers day with my mom.
We took 2 friends from Canada there for dinner while visiting. We had never been there but always wanted to go! It was excellent all the way around...we will be back and I am sure with more family & friends.

BAD COST/BENEFIT RATIO. HIGH COST. MORE SHOW THAN QUALITY
I love to go there for the great food. Highly recommend it. We don't get to San Francisco to often but once in a while I love to eat there. Miss the roast beef they use to make.
I really enjoy this place. It’s a fun place and the food is great.
A lot of hype about garlic food. We went there as a tour guide recommended it and it sounded very cool. The reality is that you get ridiculously overpriced food of an ok standard with some garlic on top or mixed in. Great idea - very poor delivery. Don’t waste your time or money.
OMG Stinking Rose is so fun and SO DELICIOUS. It's obviously super touristy and super kitschy, but the food is crazy good and the service is outstanding. Recommend BOTH cheese apps (fondue and brie) and the garlic pasta is insanely good. Everything comes with FULL cloves of garlic in it!!! Also, the garlic spread that's on the table for your bread is incredible. All around a great experience.
Always a must stop when I travel here.
Very cool concept. Garlic everything! For what you get it is very expensive hence my 1 rating on value. I order the small ribeye $41. It was 60% fat. I know ribeyes have some fat but this was way over the top. More fat than meat. When I mentioned it she said she would offer me a dessert. Great trade for them $41 steak versus $7 dessert.
Great food and excellent service. I highly recommend The Stinking Rose.
We had a group of six and was seated right away. Our waiter Nick was very informative about all the dishes and answered all our questions. I had the Brie & mushroom ravioli which was very good & was stuffed when I left. The blood orange margarita was the best.
Thank you Stinking Rose for making our Wedding Anniversary memorably delicious and fun! Made reservations on OpenTable, super easy and convenient, as I changed the no. of guests and time about 3 or 4 times.
Arrived a little early and table was already, as we waited for my brother to arrive. Ordered a couple apps, the Bagna, roasted garlic in EVOO w/ a hint of anchovies, over a candlelight served w/ homemade focaccia, is like butta. We also got the roasted brie w/ the crostini and more refilled. For our mains, after over-filling on apps, cheese pizza for the kid shellfish pasta w/ ink linguini for me, steak w/ spinach and roasted garlic potatoes for the hubs, and their 40 cloves garlic for my brother. Food is good!! If you're not fond of garlic or one of Dracula's relative, don't bother to step in. For dessert we choose a choc dome dessert which was divine and their garlic ice cream, pretty smooth and sultry, w/ a hint of garlic.
Ramon our server, along w/ his helpers were wonderful, esp for bringing bread, filling up water. From the time we sat til the end packing our togo box, service was spot on. Expect to pay a pretty penny for everything, it is in North Beach. They have a cool gift shop area w/ shirts and spices and oils. The manager was super sweet to our kid and gave her comped garlic mascot action figure. We loved it here. Perhaps come back w/ the in-laws, who love garlic!
We are from the UK and always try and visit this fabulous restaurant,
"We season our garlic with food" is their motto. They live up to that motto. It's a garlic lover's paradise!
Awesome - fragrant - friendly - flavorful - intimate
What a restaurant should be
We had a wonderful dinner at The Stinking Rose. We were given the iconic window seat with chandelier and a view! The food was amazing. We had a side salad with house dressing and the Zuppa di Pesce for main entree. It was delicious! I would definitely go back!
The food was really good, but prices are a bit high. Food seems to be prepared in advance, as it is served really quick. Especially the main course came too early, we couldn't finish the starter at all.
Desert was very little for the price (Tiramisu), but very delicious. All in all at felt like they wanted to get us out quickly to serve more people.
Everything was wonderful. THE food was excellent and I finally got my fill of garlic. I have a recipe book from the Stinking Rose and I've got to make the roasted garlic potato soup. Thanks for making my birthday special with the tiramisu and singing waiters. Love the Stinking Rose.
Went here b/c there’s so much hype around this restaurant, but found it just ok. Decent food, but WAY overpriced! Two adult meals, 2 kids meals, 2 beers, 2 apps, & a dessert cost us $225. If the food was amazing, I wouldn’t have minded the cost. Wouldn’t go back.
This was my very first trip to the stinking rose and it was for my birthday . I had the whole crab and it was so delicious and feeling . I couldn’t eat my sides I was so full . Thy surprised me after my meal with a cake slice and put a garlic hat on me and sang happy birthday . The ambiance was beautiful and the staff went above and beyond . Thanks so much stinking rose for making my birthday so fun
Excellent food. Parking was ridiculous but it is San Francisco after all.
LA location is so much better. Very disappointed by the service at this location.
Would I recommend The Stinking Rose to a friend? Yes... with caveats. If you are going for the crab, I'd say go elsewhere. It wasn't as fresh as I would have liked. The pizza had a good flavor but was a tad doughy. The garlic pasta was good. The chicken was my favorite dish.
The environment is a bit touristy and the prices are a bit high for what you get, but not outrageous. Would I go back, well, probably not as a first choice.
The food was absolutely amazing! Great atmosphere!
We always go to The Stinking Rose whenever we visit San Francisco. This time we managed not eat too much so we could try the Garlic Ice Cream - well worth it. We were very pleasantly surprised as to how well it worked with the chocolate around the edge. We will definitely try this again - on our next visit to SF.
It was fun and I am happy I got the experience, LOVE the ambiance and decor.
Food was on the bland side (entrees), roasted swimming garlic and garlic pesto was delish....the 40 clove chicken was bland and kind of a let down as was the salmon.
Just being honest.
Not as much garlic as expected, we had to add garlic to the rolls and the crab. Meatloaf was excellent, pasta with shrimp was excellent.
The food was good, but expensive for its size. The ambiance was a lot of fun; you are paying for the experience.
Food was excellent! Very accommodating for large groups. We’ll be back!
Family came in from out of town!!!!
The food was great and had an awesome evening.
If you love garlic, you’ll love this place. The Garlic meatloaf was a table favorite.
We were early but taken right to our table. Drink and dinner menus appeared with our waiter. He gave us time to order a drink while we chose our entrees. Pace was sem loud with happy voices and laughing.
Dinner was delicious , a salmon dish and clams with black linguine. We finished the meal with a fish of garlic ice cream. Attentive service, good food, fun atmosphere.
Dank food lame table. Also where da garlic monster?
I have not been to this restaurant in over 15 years. Absolutely great experience as I have the first time. Wonderful staff and friendly service great food
As a novelty, the idea of a menu designed around garlic is a good one. The food was averagely ok and the service was good. Overall I think we were a bit disappointed that it didn’t live up to our expectations, but it’s still a decent meal, if not an outstanding one.
Food was amazing, service was lackluster. We still had a great time.
Good food and great service. Atmosphere is comfortable and clean. The food was less garlicky than expected but still very good.
Very attentive staff, the garlic hot tub was excellent. Remember garlic is a laxative....
Way overpriced for lunch, quite ridiculous actually.
