Ordered the ribeye based on the server’s recommendation. Wanted to order the prime rib. Steak was well done when I ordered medium rare. Didn’t say anything it for $41.99 I think it should be cooked correctly.

The best thing I can say about The Stinking rose is that the service was good; our server was pleasant and attentive. The food was okay but not worth the price. Prices were similar to many other San Francisco restaurants, but the food was not nearly as good as the general standard in the city. The bread rolls did not taste fresh and seemed a bit stale. The linguine with shrimp was decent, but not worth the price. Same with the lamb shank that my husband ordered. I did not like the booths that we were seated in, with their tent-like covers. I felt claustrophobic in the small booth.

I ordered the Prime Rib 28oz, worst prime rib I’ve ever had. Tough, hard to cut too man tendons. For the price was terrible, especially when it was my birthday dinner event. Never again I would go, terrible experience.

Staff non attentive, the restaurant was empty. We went on the Big Bus Tour recommendation. Food was basic, very garlicky yes, which was why we went but nothing special and really overpriced. We only had 1 meal more expensive on our holiday which was Gordon Ramsay's Hells Kitchen so not great value I'm afraid. Won't be back.

quirky restaurant, with heavy emphasis on garlic. Not necessarily far out of the box dining but good straightforward dining. You will need breath mints the next day :)

Consistent great food if you love all things garlic. The staff are accommodating and friendly. My medium rare ribeye was a bit beyond well done. No longer my favorite place to eat.

If you like garlic.. This is definitely the place! Fresh garlic pesto with warm bread and extra to put on your entree. I didn't try the garlic ice cream but have been told it's excellent. We made reservations and we're seated as soon as we arrived. Husband had the large ribeye and I the lasagna 😍. A must when visiting San Francisco 👍

We have been here a couple of times and try to make it whenever we get to SF ... great food, as always. We had the spaghetti with meatballs and the ravioli. Both were very good. Nick, our server, was very nice and provided excellent service.

I will say the service was excellent: the greeting by the host was wonderful, I wish I could remember our server's name, he was very accommodating, but the food quality was just yuck. Ordered the portobello mushroom plate: the two anemic mushrooms were dry, unseasoned, the two pasta dishes had no sauce at all. A side of vegetables was also unseasoned and bland. Don't order garlic bulb; it was a huge mess to get out of the bulb. There was a lady seated behind us that had the most piercing voice, who blathered on and on and on about her job, which made the experience at the restaurant a drag. The muddy-sounding and somewhat loud music wasn't remotely Italian at an Italian place in North Beach. Not recommended.

Service was dry, took forever to get our bill had to go to the counter and give the server my credit card and they missed up in my order. I order the prime rib and they brought out a ribeye so I had to wait additional 15 minutes for my food. I ordered some sparkling wine and the sever didn’t poor it and didn’t give a can to keep the wine cold unless asked for.

We had an early ish reservation and was seated right away in a lovely booth. My son was a little bothered by the brightness & we asked if we could move, the staff was so accommodating! Our dinners came & we were all very happy with all of them! Thank you Stinking Rose for an amazing time with family! We'll have great memories of your place for a long time!

The Food was to greasy, the service to fast and as we were sitting next to the service station, it was very loud - they throw everything just into the boxes, what was so noisy at our table. It’s extremely expensive. I would say, it’s just a tourist trap.

I had wanted to come to this restaurant since 2007 after seeing it on Unwrapped, hosted by Marc Summers (of double dare fame, for my cohort). After 13 years I finally got to go, and as a garlic lover, I was not in the least bit disappointed. I melted like a candle in front of my wife (we were on our honeymoon) when each dish had more and more garlic. Every clove formed a degree in the most beautiful garlic sunset I have ever experienced. It was almost as a miracle to me. It was really good. Go eat there.

We were in San Franciso for a conference and found The Stinking Rose in Little Italy.....it was amazing! The food was delicious and did not disappoint with all the garlic! The service was awesome and they were very attentive. If we go back to San Francisco in the future, we will definitely go there again!

I’ve been to this restaurant several times and this night was way off. Food just wasn’t as good as it used to be. Things came out undercooked or overcooked. I’m guessing it was because it was Valentine’s Day and the staff seemed very miserable. Stinking Rose might be a hard pass for special occasions.

We arrived early but were seated later than our reservation time. We ordered 3 entrees but only received 1 entree. After we finished the 1st entree, we waited over an hour for the last two entrees before we lost our appetite and left. Several tables that arrived after us received their food, finished eating and left before us. It was absolutely the worst service we've ever had dining at a restaurant.

If you love garlic, this is the place to go. Standard Italian fare with plenty of garlic to go around. You may reek for days, but it is well worth it!

Stinking Rose is a necessary stop every time we visit San Francisco. I’ve been dreaming of the roasted garlic hot tub cauldron since we got back home to Portland. Can’t wait to come back.

Had a great time at the Stinking Rose with our party of 9. The restaurant wasn't insanely crowded until the end of our service, despite it being Valentine's Day. The service was fast and professional; I'm always impressed with the ability of this place to turn out entrees quickly and to a high standard of quality regardless of the size of the crowd. Food was excellent! I had the Garlic in a Hot Tub as an appetizer, and the lasagna, and both were excellent. Highly recommend this place, especially for groups.

I've been there many moons ago, but was dissatisfied with our Valentine night. It was sad how this place has rundown over time. Our waiter was just a waiter...his attitude was as if a newbie. Our food was cold....COLD. We ordered 3 prime rib dinners, 2 Lite and one Large cut, Medium-rare for the Large cut and Lite cuts, and medium-well for the other. The time for the food to come was fine, I can understand a busy Friday, yet Valentine night, but it was cold. The Medium-rare steak (stake) was as if cut off the cow right there. Bloody, extremely. ALL DISHES CAME OUT COLD. The veggies, creamed spinach and YG mashed potatoes were lightly warmed as if from the microwave. There was no taste to the steaks even. Paying a premium price for Prime Rib of this class was a travesty. I was embarrassed on behalf of my guests. This was unexceptable. We sent everything back though we didn't wait that long for the correction, it was a matter-of-fact to our waiter. There was no apology and no recourse. We also asked to speak with the manager but they never came. 250+ dollars later, I would like an apology and a refund of our meal. Please have the manager contact me via this email. I expected more from The Stinking Rose. Thank you HM
