Everyone had a great time. The food was excellent. We had some meatballs, mussels and shrimp. We also did the crab dinner. All the food was great
Always wonderful food and good service! You can't go wrong at the Stinking Rose!!!
Food was good, but pricy. $29- for a plate of spaghetti and meatballs.
Visit everyone time we are in San Francisco.
Houston has nothing as unique!
Tourist attraction- food was mediocre but service was good. Will not go back.
I’ll be sticking with the LA location. This is its poorer relation.
I’ve been a fan for decades and enjoyed a family dinner with two of my kids as we rendezvoused in San Francisco. We’re all garlic lovers so perfect match!
Always an adventure and always a solid meal. Keeps the Vampires away with all the wonderful garlic!
Great Service from all involved, food was great, had a lot of fun .
Best place for prime rib! Loved the atmosphere and good place to get authentic Italian in little Italy.
Food was tasty and they are priced reasonably. My only comment is we were originally seated in a dark section of the dining area when there are better tables available. Restaurant wasn’t even crowded during lunch hour on the sat we were there.
Would be nice if the waiter has given us a better table. Anyways we changed to a brighter table ourselves.
It was great....Definitely will go there again!
Mussel was great!
The put our party of 10 upstairs with two other parties of 10. The noise level was catastrophic; you had to scream to the person next to you to be heard. The space was not made for three large parties of that size and once seated, you could not move. The manager himself almost fell face flat when trying to move around the tables. Downstairs seemed tranquil and relaxed compared to the pandemonium of the upstairs.
Food was okay- nothing to brag about or relish.
Nice place average food no need to try
One of my favorite spots in SF! A must go for any garlic lover
The BBQ chicken pizza was terrible. Took two bites and couldn't take more
Fantastic garlic served with sides of crab and steak. We had a delightful evening sampling a number of sides and entrees.
The food was delicious but it was SO hot! No one wants to sweat through dinner...
Another fabulous dinner at Stinkin. Finally tried some new things this time; the potato onion soup was delicious, as were the mussels. I will absolutely order these two things again. One person got the arugula pesto and said it wasn't special, but that didn't take away from the meal. The only thing we weren't thrilled about what our table. I have been here many times, and didn't even know that there was an upstairs, and this was extremely crowded. Our table for four (there were only three of us) was super tiny, my friend and I basically cuddled throughout dinner. Excellent meal. looking forward to next time.
The food is exceptionally delicious, the atmosphere fun, the servicing staff makes you feel special. Take your friends and family here, they will appreciate you for it.
Ate tons of pasta the night before the San Francisco Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon! Great food! Pricey but worth it! Good portion sizes!
Sister was In town. Had a party of 14
Amazing place that anyone must visit in San Francisco! Delicious food!
We visited the stinking rose during a trip to SF last week, after a recommendation from a friend who went there years ago when they were in SF.
We were not disappointed. A real gem of a restaurant, with a uniquely garlic themed slant. There are loads of options on the menu and plenty of great wines / beers to choose from.
I opted for the 40 clove chicken and my Wife had the meatloaf. Both were delicious.
Overall I would recommend that if you are visiting San Francisco , then you should pay a visit to the Stinking Rose. A definite highlight of our trip.
We had a late lunch, made reservations through open table for 2 people for 2 pm. The restaurant was unique and I really liked the decor. There were also braids of garlic cloves hung all over the ceiling of the restaurant. There was a sign that read "This is the largest & longest garlic braid in the world - 348' long, 841 lbs., ......braided by the good people at McFadden Farms". As for the food, we are great fans of garlic so the flavor and aroma was not overpowering for us. They served us a generous number of rolls and it went so well with the garlic-parsley relish at the table. We ordered a small Zuppa di Pesce which is a tureen of mussels, crab, fresh fish, calamari & shrimp in a spicy tomato brodetto. The price was $29.99 and there was enough for 4. We finished it but then could not finish our pizza. We had ordered the Garlic BBQ Chicken (cilantrol & caciavallo) for $15.99. I would have liked it to have more sauce and spread out a little more towards the edges but the bbq sauce that was on it was nice and thick. I went to the restroom and when I came out my husband had already paid so I didn't see the dessert menu. I later read that they had garlic ice cream. I would have loved to try that.
Food was delicious. Staff was friendly and eager to please. Drinks were tasty. As a group we seated in a different area than couples, which is thoughtful. We enjoyed ourselves.
I had heard of the Stinking Rose before and thought it was a kind of specialty restaurant--I knew garlic was its thing but I thought they were known for doing it really well, like in a high end kind of way. That's not really it. It's not really garlic done well...it's just lots and lots of garlic. The food was fine, but it was quite salty and there was SO much garlic that my whole family had upset stomachs all night (it wasn't that the food had gone bad or anything...it was just so. much. garlic.) I wouldn't go back.
This was dissapointing!
This was our 3rd visit as we don't live in San Francisco, the previous 2 times it was good, but this time was not the same.
I got really sick after a few hours from my dish which was the short rib, it was not a pleasant experience, we would have gone to complain to the restaurant the next day but we were flying the next morning.
My kids pizza was also disappointing.
The garlic mash served as a side on both mains had no flavour.
The lady server seemed to just want us to eat as fast as possible to get us out the door.
Its a shame as I don't think we will return
The Stinking Rose is great for garlic lovers. Lots of options, including some vegetarian. The menu includes a baked Portobello Mushroom on a bed of steamed vegetables which I thought was quite good. My daughter thought it was underseasoned a bit. It is a popular tourist spot but the service was very good for the traffic they had to handle. I reserve my "excellent" rating for service that goes above and beyond in some way, but of course I am happy with "very good" food and service as well. It is rather pricey, but on par with similar restaurants in the area. They do take reservations which is very helpful. Overall, a "very good" meal and experience.
Always enjoyable. We stop by most of the time we come to San Francisco and the food, service and ambience never disappoints!
Good food. Fast and friendly service.
Great time had by all!
2nd time there! Best food, great atmosphere, good service. Love it!
The food was not as good as what we've come to expect from the restaurant.
Crowded inside( sears very close to other tables). Food was good not sure I’d go again . Did it for the experience.
I ordered the surf and turf with the whole crab and it was great. I probably only needed to order the whole crab because I could not finish my steak and it came with mashed potatoes and spinach which I was not able to finish either. I would definitely return, but do know the restaurant is not cheap but be prepared to really enjoy your meal.
Great ambience the service was really good and the food was delicious just make sure do not fill up on bread 1st.
Great service, food would go back again
