I came here with a friend for a fun smelly get-together. We made reservations on their website. We arrived 13 minutes late due to personal issues, but we were seated immediately upon arrival! We got the seafood platter on the iron skillet. It was SO DELICIOUSSSSSS. Their garlic bread wasn't bad, we smothered it in their garlic olive oil which was fantastic!
It’s more of a family get-together. Whenever my parents are visiting they always want to eat at the Stinking Rose, in fact, it’s become a tradition of our’s since I moved to LA from New Jersey. We love it every time.
The food and environment is always overall good. You can never go wrong here, also if your a garlic person this is the spot for you, they specialize in alot of garlic.
Had a GREAT time it was our 28th wedding anniversary. Food and service were spot on..... Will most likely go back. Thank you Stinking Rose!!
The food was awesome as usual. The only downside was the server was inattentive. She brought one cocktail and we had to ask someone to get our waiter to get the second cocktail. And I had requested a tent table and we were placed in a booth
I made a reservation expecting to have a nicer seating area. I had been here before with a friend, and I was seated in the far back, next to a wall, staring at tents, and nothing. The food was really amazing my first time, so I was excited to introduce this restaurant to my husband. For this time around, I specifically stated that it was a "date night" occasion. My husband and I were seated in the exact same place - the "forgotten" area, far far away from any of the nice decor, which felt a little sad since there were many other open seating options during the hour that we arrived. We never got refills for our water. I ordered the "Garlic in a Bath", but I had to cancel the order; we were already more than halfway through our dinner, and the dish never came. My husband ordered his ribeye steak medium rare, but it came out practically medium well. I wanted my husband to enjoy the experience since we rarely go out anywhere, and this was a belated Valentine's dinner. I feel sad that I had to listen to my husband tell me how we probably wouldn't come back here again. We took a 45 minute drive out to this location, and I had hoped that it would've been worth it...
The one in San Francisco is much better. We ordered the muscles with shrimp and crab we got more muscles than anything. I think we got like eight shrimp and probably like four or five pieces of crap I would suggest ordering the muscles on the side next time. We seen the person who serves the water more than we did our waitress. I gave him a big tip.
Good experience! Recommend the prime rib. However, the filet mignon was just ok. Free uncorking.
The three most important ingredients in a meal include all of the following, garlic, garlic, and garlic. Our meal started with garlic cloves on focaccia bread and ended with garlic ice cream and we had a lot of garlic dishes in between. The food in my opinion and as you might have guessed was spectacular and the service was well orchestrated delivering the dishes hot and on time.
Food is great and it's a really fun atmosphere there!!!
It's an okay place with average food at a fairly high price. I'd stick with he seafood offerings , avoid the ribs. Portions are average but with only one side choices, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and mixed vegetables, at their prices you should get two not one. It's a nice atmosphere and service was good. My first time there and I'll give it another shot.
Everything was amazing! Great food and service.
Look, it’s kitschy. Go with four of you, sit in a private little tent, you’ll dig it. Cozy, not swanky.
The 40 clove garlic chicken was amazing. 1/2 a chicken, moist and the sauce on it was wonderful! The short ribs were equally as good, very tender, and lots of flavor.
The warm bread rolls and garlic, parsley, olive oil spread was super yummy!
Enjoyed our dinner very much!
Went to Strinking Rose because of Valentines Day but even with reservations, I still had to wait 30+ minutes to sit down. I came last year for Valentines Day and had no problem but this was kinda like the icing on the cake because of LA traffic. Other attendees complained also because no one was sure if they had overbooked or is just plain unorganized. Also my rib eye was just all fatty
The worst management and service ever. Overbooked the restaurant 10x capacity. All had same time reservation but no tables. A long line to park and to get in to see anyone from the restaurant staff. Over 1 hour wait to be seated if you had reservations. Needless to say we left and spent our evening enjoying ourself at another restaurant.
Very greedy restaurant.
The decor of Strinking Rose was unique. Food quality and quantitie was great. Overall restaurant was amazing would make a second visit soon.
Made my reservation 2 days before Valentines Day. Always got the feeling this place wasn't that popular because it's across the street from Lawry's so it's always easy to get a reservation. But by the time we arrived at the valet, there was a line out the door. Soon as we got out of the car the valet asked if we had a reservation. I guess ppl come here without a reservation usually even on Valentines day? For holidays they won't seat you until your entire party has arrived so we waited in the bar area. The bar isn't anything special, just a long bar and some tables with only like 2 bartenders. When we finally sat down to our table for dinner, the waitress was great! This place doesn't have corkage fees?? How is that possible, we asked? They are under an old cabaret license which lets them do this..AWESOME. By far the pork chops was the best dish with the bagna calda appetizer of course. The lamb & prime rib was great too but still 2nd to the pork chop. We finished off with the garlic ice cream. Overall this place is great for food, ambience and service.
8th year I've come for Valentine's Day, but because it's my wife's birthday. I will not come again.
The parking is crazy. The line to get in, WITH a reservation puts you onto the street to wait in the long lines. This year, no "substitutes" were given for side dishes. No birthday song to be sung. There seemed to be numerous fights ready to break out. I think they overbook. I used to love this place as our "go to" celebration spot. I'm not sure we can come again.
I made a reservation for 9:15 but apparently so did 100 other people and I had to wait in a line around the block. I finally got to the door over an hour after my original reservation. No apologies or anything.
The absolute worst experience. My girlfriend and I were celebrating Valentine's Day and our fourth anniversary together. Reservations typically mean that you are reserving a table for a specific time slot. This was not the case at the Stinking Rose. After spending nearly thirty minutes waiting in line for valet parking, we walked inside and approached the host who informed us that the line wrapped along the entire outside of the building was for reservations. This was very unpleasant as we had reservations for 915 and the line seemed to be well over an hour. In addition, the weather outside was extremely cold. We decided to wait and see how long it would take for use to get the table that we reserved for 915. After 45 minutes, we realized that we had hardly made a dent in this behemoth of a line. We decided to call it quits and called around to various restaurants. Unfortunately most restaurants either closed at 10 or were not accepting walk-ins. Essentially our Valentine's Day and anniversary were ruined. I had planned on "popping" a specific question to my long-time girlfriend over dinner. Instead, we ended up at In N Out.
Everything was wonderful! Great service and the food was delicious!
Absolutely ruined the beginning to our special night on Valentines Day! Considering how long this place has been in business, they have no class to overbook on VDay! My wife and I were really looking forward to trying this place too. When we arrived, or tried to arrive because there was a line of cars and people trying to get their cars along with a line of cars that wrapped around the block trying to park we had to literally get out of our Uber in the middle of a busy street. This was the first sign of trouble. Then once we approached the front we saw a line of people that went for about 75 yards (not counting the other part of the line inside and people waiting at the bar) and wrapped around the outside of the building. We actually had a chuckle and said to each other, “these people should have made reservations, who wouldn’t on VDay?” So we walked past the long line to the front door only to find out everyone in line did have a reservation!! Our jaws dropped. So we walked all the way to the sidewalk and then took a left and walked all the way to the end of the line. As we stood there we started talking to everyone and they all were upset to say the least. We were all there at least 10 mins before our reservations (ours were at 9:15) but that didn’t matter at that point as we knew we wouldn’t be getting to a table until like 10:30 or 11 at the rate the line (wasn’t) moving. So in order to save Valentines we quickly scrambled to make other plans. Luckily we called a friend at Tao who does reservations and she got us in. Unfortunately it was in Hollywood and took us another 25 mins to get there but totally worth it. I highly recommend Tao if you ever get a chance. Of course between the extra Uber ride and miles to get back home, plus the fact that Tao, while delicious, was far more expensive than the Stinky Rose, we ended up spending at least $200 more than we planned. So Stinky Rose, send me my $200 gift card and maybe I’ll give you a 2nd chance!
Made reservations and the line was so long we didn’t get seated until about an hour after our reservation time.
Waited over an hour for a table, with a reservation. Food was cold and the table was in a closet room.
As we drove in we were rudely told by the velay man to leave the restaurant since there was going to be a long wait. He didn’t great my girlfriend or I and then proceeded to rudely get in my car and ask if the keys were inside. I said yes he drove fast and parked my car. Afterwards I had made reservations a week before hand but we still had to wait and hour and 20 minuets to go inside and get seated the line was so long. Then we order our food at 9:10 pm and didn’t get served until 10:30 pm. I would really like speak to the manager, because for a restaurant that one pays $100 plus, EVERYTHING should be one point. Honestly one of the worst experiences in my time in LA.
Had to wait in a very long line for an hour in the cold even though we had a reservation. Soup tasted and looked like it came from a can. Steak under-cooked and then over-cooked. Pasta was good
My gf and I had an 8:45pm reservation on Valentine's Day. My only complaint is that the traffic, valet line, and reservation lines were off the hook. It was very difficult to be turning left into the valet as one has to deal with on-coming traffic on La Cienega Blvd. AND cars that are turning right into the same valet area with on-coming traffic blocking the ability to turn left into the valet lot. I understand it was Valentine's Day and it was extremely busy, but some kind of coordinated effort would probably help the restaurant's end and the consumer end. No walk-ins were allowed on Valentine's Day. You had to have a reservation. The reservation line wrapped around the block. However, once finally seated, the staff was still so composed, friendly, and nice despite being severely overbooked and horribly busy. Well done to the staff at Stinking Rose from the valets to our servers.
The worst setup for a Valentine’s Day dinner. They clearly overbooked reservations and could not handle the holiday capacity. We made a reservation and were told there was a 30 minute - 45 minute wait outside in a line going down the street for people with reservations. Valet was ridiculous and we were told to have one person wait in line while parking. What a way to ruin a Valentine’s Day dinner! We decided to forget it!
