The Steakhouse at Paso Robles Inn
Prime Rib French Dip
thinly sliced slow roasted prime rib, creamy horseradish, swiss cheese, au jus, served on a local italian roll
herbal tea, iced tea
The prime rib special was perfecto. Our wait person was just the right amount of available and helpful as my wife and I had a rough past three weeks.
Ordered a $58.00 ribeye steak ordered medium rare it came well done actually a little black charcoal like & fresh green beans were still pretty crunchy. It took awhile to get meal so for me to return & have made again my husband would be done eating. Love the place. Beautiful inside ( remodeling looks beautiful & there upstairs bar was closed due to getting ready to remodel it) - good service- good cocktail. Would try again. It was our 25th anniversary and told them when made reservations. But they never acknowledge it.
We both ordered the prime rib. The meal came out cold. Sent it back and it came out warm. Asked the waitress if the cut was prime or choice, I don't think she understood the question. The meat was not tender and lacked marbling indicating a lesser grade of meat. I did not finish the meal and will not return to this restaurant.
Truly the best meals we've ever had! We both had a cup of clam chowder which was hot and flavorful. My filet mignon was so tender and absolutely delicious. My husband had the NY strip with shrimp which was a NYE special and equally as good. We shared a slice of NY cheese cake which was so creamy and just the perfect ending to a perfect meal. We can wait to go back, next time we're in Paso Robles!
Overall good but service was a mixed bag on the evening we visited.
Christmas dinner with my husband
Once again we enjoyed The Steakhouse. We decided to have Christmas Dinner there this time. The food was prepared deliciously. The Steakhouse Wedge salad is outstanding. I would have preferred the Rib-Eye steak over the prime-rib but that was not offered on this Christmas menu. (it is offered on their regular menu)
In addition; we like that there is no corkage fee for bringing our own purchased local wine. We chose to bring from our collection; The 2019 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Justin Winery. This was a perfect match for the prime-rib we had.
We opted for taking home our Bread Pudding dessert, which we later had with Espresso. It was delicious!
We were served by Jose, and to our satisfaction, he is a very classy man and seasoned server, knowledgeable about the menu and his timing was perfect in allowing us time to enjoy our wine first and food courses to follow.
Thank you for a wonderfully satisfying, relaxed evening!
Food was spotty. Salads and New England Clam Chowder were excellent . Beef Short Ribs were excellent. Prime Rib was tough and tasteless ( 3 people ordered this). Wine list was underwhelming with minimal choices for a steakhouse in the middle of wine country. Dessert was excellent . Service was excellent. I get the feeling that there is something not visible on the service going on with this restaurant ( head chef ? finances ? ownership ? )
Food and service was very good, but the diningroom was drafty, and the hostess station phone rang loudly and constantly. They sat a party of 8, 4 of whom were toddlers right next to us, the parents didn't mind the the crying, but we did.
The menu is a bit pricey, but the food was excellent. I had the prime rib and it was cooked to to perfection as were the vegetables. The service was impeccable and the ambience was very homey and comfortable.
Great food and great service!
Excellent food and service.
Overall the meal was good. Salads were delicious and abundant. My rib eye was tough. My wife enjoyed her prime rib. Drinks were good.
Nice place , good wine selection, waitress was great. The food was cold when it arrived. The potatoes had no flavor. There was three of us dinning and all had cold plates and wasn’t impressed.
The sirloins were a tad tough and my partner had to send his steak back because it was way over done. The second time came back perfectly, however.
The salmon I ordered was extremely undercooked even after I sent it back for additional cooking time.
I ordered their tomato basil soup and it was extremely salty and not enjoyable. My daughter ordered the steakhouse wedge with sirloin steak and it was bland and tasteless, as was my husband’s fried chicken was not impressive and flavorless as well. Our server was abrupt, hard to get her attention and she raised an eyebrow and asked if I was sure when I asked for cracked pepper for my soup.
Using QR code for menu was a disappointing experience. Seating at the booths is to low, making the table to high to comfortably cut your steak. View out the window towards the nice garden was blocked by a scaffolding. The food was good, and we have always thought this place should be the crown jewel of Paso Robles. Not there yet.
We had the Thanksgiving dinner. Tasting like cafeteria food. Not good.
Was a perfect place to celebrate a Thanksgiving dinner.
Waitress indicated we should leave because customers were waiting at the door. We were at a table for two; but a party of 6 were waiting to be seated. She did not ask if we wanted another cup of coffee.
We ordered prime rib on a Friday night at 7:30 and they were out of it. The steak was a good substitute, though. Cooked perfectly. The menu was printed in very, very small print and none of us could read it in the dimly lit room. Had to look it up on the website so we could read it.
Was thrilled when we got a table but just let down when the food came. My salmon was Raw, I had them cook a bit more, my daughters steak was over cooked ( she ordered the Tri-Tip ) was hard as a rock. My husband ordered the Fried Chicken and it was marginal and risotto was cold. So bummed, but had a lovely weekend and made the best of our situation.
Had two appetizers - fried artichoke and steak bites-and both were just terrible. We love the hotel and have had some good meals at this property, but this experience was not a good one. Servers were attentive and ambiance was warm.
Nice dining experience. Excellent service! Limited wine list.
Great Wednesday night special of Prime Rib for $30.
We go to The Steakhouse to get a great steak…didn’t get it this time. I ordered a filet cooked medium. When the waitress brought everyone’s meal out she told me that my order didn’t get put in. Then 2 min later she brings my steak out and says “you should check it to see if it’s ok.” I cut into it and it was purple inside…wayyyyy undercooked. Takes it back and brings it out again and still purple inside. By that time I was done waiting. Very disappointed. They took it off our bill and offered a complimentary dessert but we didn’t want it.
The waitress was the best asset about the restaurant. Had a reservation but still had to wait past that time a ways. The steak was cooked horribly my wife asked for med and got rare. Sent it back and got rare again. The chef or cook needs to learn the basics of cooking steak. They were out of a lot of items on the menu.
Very unfortunate early evening. We’d booked outdoor dining, were told as we checked in that outdoor dining was no longer available. We asked for a booth and were told none were available. We were seated at a table and our server quickly took our order, grabbed our glasses of wine and our first dish ( appetizers). From arrival to first appetizer, maybe 8 minutes. Second appetizer no more than five minutes later. Brussels sprouts and shrimp (separate dishes) were both good.
From that point, never saw our server again. 25 minutes with no check in, no water refill, no next dish, etc. We stopped a bus person to ask for water and our water was refilled. Asked of our server, and ultimately asked for the check.
When the server presented the check, we asked where she’d been. Apparently she was the bartender for the entire restaurant, which explains why we never saw her, but it would have been good of her to ask one of the four other servers to check in on the table.
The restaurant is a bit tired and dated, but is not uncomfortable, and the two dishes which we had were good. Unfortunate that our night out didn’t work out.
There are lots of options downtown — really wish that we’d chosen differently.
The food and service was fair/good. The prime rib was not up to par, it was somewhat tough and had a lot of fat, even for a prime rib. My guests steaks were also fair. They were thin and overcooked. However, the Brussel sprouts were very good.
Quick service and a very capable server even being very new. A wonderful and shocking surprise to find out as the capability, care, honesty, and every aspect was excellent. It’s too bad that the restaurant isn’t up to the same level my server was! The menu states “…an extensive local wine list” which consists of maybe 8 red wines. This is not “extensive” in any way shape or form. Worse even was that they were out of 4 of them! You are a steakhouse in the wine country-this is absolutely unacceptable!! You can’t drive 4 blocks from their location without hitting 5 or more winery tasting rooms and within 15 miles there must be over 100 wineries, not to mention local stores! It’s unfortunate as I was looking forward to a nice dinner but settled on a burger with an okay but less than desired wine. They need to rethink the menu and live up to the name with more than 5 red wines in stock.
Excellent Prome Rib and Beef Tips, only downside No bartender but it was okay because I don't drink.
Waitress was very attentive and nice.
Nice steakhouse, old school menu. No bar ( staffing problem) small menu.
Prime rib was great. Staff was very friendly and professional. Prices were fine.
Just seemed old and tired.
The food was excellent as always but there was no bartender working on. Friday night so they were only serving bottled beer and wine.
The food was horrible. The service was excellent but we will never go back. It was not a $100 meal and that was just my bill without desert. Had the steak and potato been good - no issue but this was not good.
It was an early sunday morning, so we were served inside the steakhouse instead of the coffee shop, but the staff is warm and welcoming and very attentive! Breakfast was excellent! I will be back for sure!
Wine O’ Treatin’ with my friend. We came from the Bay and spwnd Halloween weekend in Paso. The Steakhouse is one of the restaurants that we love to dine at.
Service was great, but food was just so-so. The filet mignon was nicely done, but not tender and it was grisly.
Had 5pm Weds reservation and service was great. Got the prime rib special, which was good, but was medium rather than the rare as ordered…not unusual for ordering prime rib, but the server should have told us. Other order was the burger, which although a bit $ pricey, excellent!!!! Fries a bit under cooked and McDonald’s like…tasty food tho… liked the setting,a bit rustic cowboy but still modern. A winner when you stay at the inn and you don’t want to drive or even walk anywhere !
