The Steakhouse at Paso Robles Inn
Wow, where to start? How about not being sat at a fully set table, then waiting 15 minutes to get some water. Hmm, maybe the 5 out of 5 steaks being cooked incorrectly and coming cold, non-seasoned and with undercooked non-seasoned veggies/sides? How about having to ask for wine to be poured by waiter who admitted he wasn't even of age to serve us? Perhaps the lack of support through out the entire restaurant? We did not SEE a manager. I'd never go here again....get some professional cooks and waiters please. Thank you. In defense of our server, he did have a good attitude and tried to make things right in the end but the effort was too little, too late and should have been handled by a manager. Additionally, this server needs to be TRAINED. Again, not his fault....
We have had great food and service experiences in the past. For being a steakhouse, the quality of the steak, sides and sauces were disappointing.
Food was delicious. Waite staff was great. Prices are on the high side but was worth it. Would recommend for any special occasion.
I have nothing but good to say about your restaurant, except when i made the reservation i mentioned it was my birthday and wanted a booth by the back window, like we have done for the past three years....When the Hostess went to seat us she took us to four top table and when i mentioned we reserved a booth, she rudely said "those are not always gauranteed"...mind you if the place was over booked or extremily busy that night i would have compramised and took a table, BUT the restaurant was very slow and she had a few booths open....Bottom line....she could have said it a little more nicer and things would have been great...But it was a nice dinner and waitress was awesome....Thank You
Clean and quiet restaurant. French Dip sandwich is very good. Service is very good.
Very good food and pleasant environment. Service was good and polite.
I was pleasantly surprised. Food was well prepared and tasty. The environment was quaint and historical. Staff was cheerful and attentive.
Very nice, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Special thanks to Brittany, Naomi, and Jordan for making out experience so good. Food quality was better than expected and we loved being able to try wines from the places we would be visiting during the weekend.
Hotel restaurants are always a challenge. This one was no different. Very friendly and welcoming maître d. I don't know the name of the waitperson, but he was robotic and hard of hearing (had to repeat numerous requests); not engaging and never seemed really present. He wasn't unfriendly; just not "there." I had the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer - nice sized pieces and bland as shrimp usually can be. The sauce was one step below ketchup. My companion had the calamari and way too much of it as an appetizer for one. He thought it tasted OK. I had the hamburger, medium rare, and fries. The hamburger, cooked as ordered, was tasteless. The fries were hot and cooked very well - they were quite good, but way too much of them. My companion had a rib-eye steak, medium, that was pretty bad: more fat than meat and tasted like those cuts you get from the local grocery store. He didn't finish it. The accompanying mashed potatoes were cold. I had the lemon cake as the dessert: this was the best item of the night. Nice crumb and not too much icing. My companion had the lava cake (judged as OK) and ice cream, which melted almost immediately. The interiors were slightly depressing - pretty dark and all of it seemed old.
The location is great, especially if staying at the wonderful inn. Our steak was returned 3 times to be cooked and still wasn’t great. Chicken dishes were the best we ordered.
We usually spend one night in Paso Robles while on our way to southern. California. Tonight we chose this restaurant for dinner.
I was disappointed when I asked for a glass of Pinot Noir to be told they didn’t have any. Not by the glass or by the bottle. Seemed they hadn’t had any for several months. I chose another type of wine.!!
I ordered a salad to split with my husband and it came with just a dollop if dressing in the middle of the salad.
My salmon was a huge piece which was nice. it was sitting on a bed of white rice (no sauce) but the middle of the fish was very undercooked.
We left without dessert or ordering an extra glass of wine.
Not sure I’d return.
We stayed at the hotel part of this Bussiness and it’s very convenient and authentic with the restaurant menu loaded with delicious options, wine list is good and service outstanding.
Tasty steaks came in big portion. Brussel sprouts appetizer came in huge portion. Service was awsome. Thank you, Megan, for making our first dinner in 2020 a quite pleasant experience.
We ordered the Large Ribeye. The steak was thin and tasteless. Service was poor.
Food was good server wasn’t very attentive.
The food was great, the grilled artichoke was excellent. Server was pleasant, disappeared for a bit, other server was helpful. Hostess was not welcoming, we didn't have reservations, told it would be over an hour to be seated 7:30. Went to Open Table app made one for 6:45 while in lobby. She didn't know I guess, kind of odd.
6 guests: 1 Medium steak was completely rare, other steaks were tasteless and very chewy, ribs ordered were so spicy they were inedible and sent them back but they couldn’t get them replaced before our other guests were finished. We asked to speak to the manager regarding the ribs and she wouldn’t come out to our table and only comped $9 for a $19 meal that wasn’t even touched. Very disappointing. We called after leaving and asked the manager to return call - she didn’t. Won’t be going back and wouldn’t recommend.
I have eaten here and been happy in the past but this last time was a disaster our waiter never checked back once the food was served
My mother’s food was cold (short ribs) I asked another waiter to summon our and he agreed but then did not, when I attempted to motion to the manager she yelled at me from the kitchen door “do you need help?”
When I answered yes my mothers food is cold she came over and argued stating it was heated in the same pan as yours it couldn’t be cold then she walked away!
The original waiter came over and very condescending agreed to heat it up
By then the rest of us were nearly done eating so mom ended up taking her food to go
Won’t go back
Also wine list by the glass was awful
This is Paso get some decent wine!
I'm sorry to be negative, but the experience, besides Michelle, our server, was very poor. The room was nice, the fireplace inviting, but the food was very poor. Most of the sides were cold, the meat was tough, and it didn't lend itself to the definition "steak house." After coming home and reading many reviews, I discovered that these comments are all too common. It's a shame, really.
We had a great meal!!! Thank you! We will definitely be back.
Food was terrible. Do not eat here!!
The lighting in the restaurant continued to surge and flicker while we were there..the waitstaff said it happens frequently and couldn't be adjusted..replace the reostadt folks!!
My husband and I have been eating here for over 13 years and always enjoy their steaks and prime rib. They have a no corkage fee if you bring a local Paso Robles wine.
We had a minor problem with where we were first seated , but the manager worked to help us out and change our table..
Our waiter was very efficient and helpful as well. Both of our steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides were delicious.
Extra bread was brought which was warm and too good.
We were not disappointed.
Dinner and service were excellent. Ambience was great. Only issue was an electrical problem with lights; constant flixering.
We had the Thanksgiving dinner in the Ball Room. Our server was outstanding, she was attentive and very friendly. The setting was good, it was a large ballroom withe tables setup to accommodate many patrons. The wine selection was very good with mostly local wines featured. We love Central Coast wines so this suited us well. The dinner was well appointed, the roast turkey breast was outstanding, moist and full of flavor! The mashed potatoes and sausage stuffing w/ gravy were very good too. Kudos for the green bean casserole, cranberry chutney, shrimp cocktail and the smoked salmon with charcuterie. I had lemon cheesecake for dessert and it was very tasty. We will return again for this dinner next year if we are here. I would highly recommend this special dinner.
Decent solid good food, not exceptional or gourmet.
There were 4 of us and each entree was perfectly done. We started with the steak tartar, not my thing, but the others raved about it. Steaks were done to perfection and the service was executed very nicely.
Had a wonderful salmon dinner. Was a very enjoyable experience.
It may because they were understaffed but we were disappointed. Experience really wasn’t very good. The server though friendly struggled and at times was no wear to be seen as was the others.
We went to celebrate our anniversary, the service, food, and ambiance was perfect! Food was delicious! They even gave us a free dessert and appetizer for our anniversary. Will definitely be going back!!
Overall, a good place... Service was slow... Had to ask for the waiter and for items like water... Food was ok, steak was good, baked potato was overdone and seemed to be microwaved... Veggies were good... I had expected better from a steakhouse...
Not our taste in ambiance. Food was fair but nothing special.
We completely enjoyed our dinner at the Steakhouse. We both had the prime rib which was more medium than medium rare but still tasted great. The asparagus and salad that accompanied the prime rib were also quite good. Our server was very helpful and attentive. Definitely going back the next time we're in Paso Robles!
While the steakhouse itself was very nicely appointed, it appeared that they were having staffing problems, and it showed in the food and service. I just had an appetizer for dinner (steak bites, which were quite tasty) but the other three people all had meals, and all were dissatisfied either with the way they were cooked or the quality. I loved staying at the Paso Robles Inn (for three days) and would have eaten more meals there if the quality and service had been better.
Service was very slow, we had a very early dinner reservation, so that was a surprise. Waiter was very nice and attentive but took forever for us to get our entree. Food was good when we got it.
The food and ambiance were great, the service was a little slow and confused, also they were out of 4 entrees, and 2 bourbons
Excellent place to come to try out all the different, delicious wines that Paso has to offer. The service was great. What stole the show was the bacon-wrapped dates, I'd highly recommend them.
The meat itself was about as expected for a small town steakhouse. It was fine though not quite fulfilling. The filet was not quite as satisfying as I'd hoped. It was cooked as ordered (medium-rare), it just tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge off the bone for quite a while. Though take this all with a grain of salt from someone who is long used to the best Dallas Steakhouses and cooking his own meats.
Recommendation to the chef: try offering more cuts off the bone. A bone in ribeye would be a good start, and I think even a bone in NY or KC strip would do well also.
Great dining eperience, great good and service with kudos to the chef.
Not our first time here and we will certainly be back!
Service was great! Jacob was helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. We never felt rushed or ignored.
Food came out prompt and hot, cooked to perfection and so flavorful! This is an old school classic steak house with plenty of new school favorites (You have to try the Brussels Sprouts!)
Food, Service, Ambience, and Price all on point!
