The Steakhouse at 9900
One of the best steak restaurants I have ever been to. Excellent service and the owner Lou was so friendly. I am definitely going back the next time I visit Portland.
First time here. Nice and small. Noise was louder than usual due to a graduation party.
Service and food were great.
We came to celebrate a belated birthday. Steaks were cooked to satisfaction (rib eye and filet mignon) vegetable (asparagus, green beans, fingerling potatoes) sides were excellent. Dessert was a satisfying finish (crème brûlée).
- very delicious...
We booked the restaurant for convenience because we stayed at the Shilo Inn at the same address. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise that they offered 25% discount for hotel customers. The steak and lobster cob salad were excellent, in terms of quality, quantity and presentation. Staff were attentive and friendly. The environment was retro, but very spacious and comfortable.
I have been several times now and every time the food is delicious, the service is wonderful and the over all experience is great! I highly recommend this place if you are craving a good steak. Although the salmon is so tender and cooked to perfection. Everything is always fresh, filling and perfect.
A diamond in the ruff. Don't be fooled by the exterior - what awaits you inside is GREAT food, service and all around experience.
I continue to recommend this place to local friends who remember it well. Times change, this menu has changed ... in this case al for the better
The food was great quality. Overall we enjoyed our dinner. The wedge salad was great. The sauce with the shrimp cocktail was great. Our steaks were supposed to be medium but mine came out medium well and my wife’s came out almost well done. This was our first time and so I don’t know if this is just the way they do medium or if it was a mistake. It’d go medium rare next time. They had great flavor but the missed doneness was a bit of a disappointment. It’s not like we expected steaks like Ringside or Morton’s but anyway enough on that—like I said they tasted great. I had the ribeye and my wife had the New York.
As a result of the steaks they comp’ed us dessert which was very well done.
We will be back.
New to Portland and are trying out different restaurants, this one tops the list for food, service and accountability from the owner. He visited our table and made sure everything suited us. Food menu is very adaqaute and very extensive wine list too. Very friendly staff and we could carry on a conversation, which is a plus these days also! We will go back!
A lovely gem in an unlikely place! Always a pleasure.
It’s a nice restaurant however there was a horrible smell of cigars thru out the entire restaurant because of the upstairs Cigar Bar.
Had an outstanding Server.
Food was ok however, everywhere smelled like grandma’s house who smokes like a chimney. That was a little disappointing and doesn’t make me want to go back. If they went organic and offered some gluten free items and a better wine list, aired out the building and made some updates to the space it would be a top notch place for Beaverton which is really needed!
Great place for great food in a relaxed and comfortable environment.
Don't let the location inside of the Shiloh Inn discourage you... give it try.
The first time we were at Steakhouse 9900, they were still pretty new and we were one of only a few tables occupied. The service at that time was great and the food was outstanding. Steak was cooked to perfection. This time, there were several more tables occupied but not a completely full house. The food was outstanding once again, the steak was cooked to perfection. The service was a little clunky, with forgotten orders for drinks and bread for the table. I'm sure we will go back again because the food is worth it.
Great experience at the steakhouse. Service was outstanding and the food not only looked great, but was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. They do have a cigar bar in another part of the building which you could faintly smell while having dinner. Definitely will be back in our next visit to Beaverton
This place is amazing. Don't let the fact that it's in the Shilo throw you off. The chef is an Iron Chef winner and the steaks are fabulous. The ribeyes I've had here are the best I've ever had. My 9 year old son had the hamburger off the kids menu and it was great. It is a hand formed patty and one of the best burgers, let alone off a kids menu.
My wife doesn't want me to write this cause it might expose "our spot" but I just want to say that The 9900 has the most flavorful steak I've eaten in Portland. Granted I haven't been to many...Morton's, Portland City Grill, and Fogo de Cháo but The 9900 beats them all. Please sit a Seyka's (pronounced Say KAH) table. She is a really great server.
It’s a shame because the food is fabulous. They were out of most liquors. We were all squished in like sardines. The lobby reeked of cigarette smoke that about gagged you. The people next to us left as they never did get their entree. Very amateurish for a restaurant that has the history that they do. NO parking. It’s jammed in to a Shilo Inn on a busy street.
Dear Judy, thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the service you received. We strive for top notch service and we will do better. Please feel free to reach out to us or send us DM. We would love the opportunity to make this right for you.
My new favorite neighborhood restaurant. Excellent food and great service
We were a party of seven. It was my daughter's 19th birthday and her favorite food is steak. I did a lot of research about restaurants that specialize in a great steak. Reading the reviews on the Steakhouse at 9900 was pretty spot on. The location is kind of odd. Parking can be a pain. But those two minor inconveniences are completely worth it. The service was above par, the ambiance was beautiful, and every single item that we ordered was delicious. Funny thing is that it is a very fancy place, but the hosts are very warm and friendly. That was nice because I don't like stuffy restaurant employees. We will be back!
Loved it!!!! So yummy. It was a little weird that it was attached to the Inn. I think if it’s location was different they would get a lot of traction!
Amazing! From the service to the food, it was incredible!
Excellent steak, salad, potatoes calamari and bread. Our server Richard, was outstanding. We will be back 100% and order wine and desserts too. We were too full from our dinner this time!
This visit was our fifth or sixth time and we love this steakhouse. In fact, I'm making reservations for tomorrow evening! We're taking our son and his wife there for dinner.
This place is perfect for a QUITE night out with your wife or husband. Staff was superb, food was amazing. I little spendy, but there is a good reason...it keeps the rift raft out, but really your getting what you pay for, great food, a quite setting and staff that makes sure your are satisfied with your visit.
This is truly a hidden gem! The food, presentation and service was EXCELLENT! The location is not what you expect (attached to a Shilo Inn) but do not let the location deter you! The food was on par with Ruth’s Chris and El Gaucho but for half the price! Our filet mignons were cooked perfectly. So tasty and tender. We cannot wait to go back!
First the positives:
Food was amazing, came quickly. I had the filet and it was perfect. My boyfriend had the rib eye and said it was the best he’d ever had. He’s had a lot so that’s a big compliment. The salmon was ordered by his daughter and it looked awesome and the plate was beautiful. The place was not very busy so it was really quiet, which made it easier to talk.
Parking isn’t great or easy to figure out.
The atmosphere is ok. Seems a bit dated.
The waitress was nice but a little awkward.
We had a great birthday dinner at The Steakhouse 9900. I was surprised of its location, inside a hotel, but the ambience was a throw-back to another era with dark woods, tin ceilings, and quite atmosphere. The menu was not large but offered enough options for the two of us. I recommend their Old Fashioned! The food was hot and very tasty. We were not pressed for time and this was the right choice for a relaxing evening.
fantasic place to eat good service and good food. i would come back again again
Our waiter was phenomenal. The Martini and Manhattan are very good as was the potato pork belly soup. The food was cooked to perfection. Can't wait to visit again!
Lou and crew at the 9900 are top notch. Really enjoyed the dining experience, the 10oz fillet was very good, calamari app was one of my favorites.
Food was good, but steaks inconsistent. Each ordered same cut/doneness filet -- one was perfect, the other slightly overcooked and sort of stringy. Ambiance needs work -- overhead lighting was yellow and too bright. No music playing -- needed some nice subtle jazz or piano as a backdrop. Otherwise service was good and prices decent so thought it was a good value.
This was our 2nd visit to 9900. The dinner was wonderful, best filet mignon I have ever eaten. The service was also exceptional. Great place for an intimate dinner date.
Don’t let the exterior fool you! Fast, friendly staff and the good was cooked to perfection.
I and my wife finally had diner here and I don’t know why it took so long for us to come here and have a fantastic dinner.
My wife had the filet and I had the ribeye and both steaks were wonderful.
Cooked perfectly and the accompanying potatoes and vegetables were just right.
We had oysters up ahead and they prepared with a wonderfully flavorful seasoned crumbly crust in their shells. A cup of tomato bacon soup made a nice combination.
The service was great with just the right amount of attention by our friendly server. It was also nice that the owner of this fine restaurant stopped by to say hello and make sure everything was to our liking.
If want a great dinner in a great atmosphere, this is the place.
Tenderloin steak dinner was very good. Brownie dessert was so so, they could use a new recipe. Overall nice place.
Don't let the Shiloh Inn location fool you... Great ownership, service, ambiance (low key, not pretentious) and amazing food prepared by Portland's Iron Chef Award Winner make this the West Side's Best-Kept Secret.
Yeah, yeah we all know and love DeCarli, Mingo and Bethany's Table too... add this "neighborhood-gem" to the rotation and enjoy!
The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. Nice and cozy place with a dim romantic ambiance. The salmon was one of the best i’ve ever had! The inside was moist and the outside, where there wasn’t any skin, was surprisingly crunchy! Also, the hostess recommended the Hemmingway for a drink and it was amazing! Not too diluted and not too strong. Overall, everything was amazing and for a reasonable price. Definitely going to come back again.
Food was very good, the best service we have had in years- I would highly recommend!
Valentines dinner. Excellent food, excellent service. What more can one say!
Very tasty ribeye. Nice stuffs. But the steak for kid was overcooked.
