The Star on Park
Everything was good just too noisy
Had been here before during a visit to our daughter’s, but for lunch. Dinner was very loud and problematic for me as I’m deaf in one ear. Surprisingly, it was the adults (one woman in particular) and not the kids who were the loudest. Enjoyed the food and service nonetheless. Will return on next visit to the area but will restrict to lunch period.
We really like the lunch special. Individual pizza sizes. I really like the thin crust pizza with sun-dried tomatoes and balsamic reduction. Caesar salad is good too. My husband like the deep dish crust. I do too... but prefer pizza to be lighter... so we trade one piece of our pizzas. Going late 2pm in the afternoon the place was quiet. I know at busy times it can be quite noisy.
The staff always make me feel welcome. They are friendly, attentive, yet not intrusive. Both deep dish and thin crust pizzas are outstanding: creative and hearty, quality toppings, well-balanced flavors. Great bar: specialty cocktails, beer selection, & wines. The Foxhound is my fave!
It was just loud, but overall good pizza
We have been going to the Star on Park ever since grand opening. We have tried a lot of different pizza variations but always fall back to the large classic deep dish as our favorite along with the green goddess dressing salad. The ingredients are fresh and are consistently delicious! The service was excellent.
Great location for everyday dining.
We had a lovely time. The service was great but the only thing we did not enjoy as much as other Star Pizza’s from different locations was the crust of the pizza. It just wasn’t as good as we’d always had it. Maybe something just went wonky that day, so we’ll try again because everything else was great. If it remains the same, We’ll simply go to the other Star Pizza’s. I know I’m a hard judge for stuffed pizza but I’m from near Chicago and we’ve got a high bar for this very thing.
Staff was very good. Food was yummy.
I order a México coke , pizza , salad
A friends’ holiday lunch - quiet, great service and, as always, amazing pizza!
Great pizza and appetizers!
I would recommend THE STAR for my friends as long as I also let them know that the restaurant can be loud...voices truly carry here.
The flavors in the food are amazing...the wedge salad being on of the tastiest I have had in quite a while. BUT...the amount of toppings on our pizza was a disappointment. We had the chicken pesto, but with a thin layer of pesto and not much chicken. If we return, we will make the request for additional toppings!
Great for an evening after any event... or just a night out for some good pizza.... or drinks... or even better, both.
Great for pizza both deep dish & thin crust. Good cocktails & wine.
We had a great time. The food was really good, especially the chicken wings and the deep dish pizza, and it's a warm, welcoming place.
Great pizza for both regular and gluten-free pizza! Gluten-free family member loved their gluten-free crust (thin only) and everyone else loved the deep dish. Their interior is absolutely gorgeous, great for date nights and family birthday parties. Love it!
I have always been a fan of The Star and have eaten there well over a dozen times. Unfortunately, it seems the quality of the cheese and thin crust have decreased. We were disappointed. The cauliflower and chicken wing side dishes were both great as usual. I love the atmosphere and the people are always really nice and efficient. I will give it another try but if they started using cheaper cheese, there are better pizza options.
It is extremely loud there! But food is good, service people are always friendly.
Very comfortable and chic—-would be nice if staff could handle multiple tabs
It was good I order pizza and soda and salad
We went there for lunch before a flight. I had wanted to try the restaurant but always something else came up. It was great. In the afternoon there were only a handful of people dining. Service was great. Not hovering but always attentive. We ordered a pizza thin crust. It was perfect. I was glad to see there have AIB beer on tap...keep it local! I cant wait to return.
This review is only for the pizza which was greasy and pretty bland. We got a thin crust, half red sauce with pepperoni & Olives, half white pizza with Mozzarella instead of feta. Very bland. My friend LOVES this place but it was not for me. It was also prime time for toddlers and given the vaulted ceilings was really really loud. The burrata appetizer was as expected but nothing out mind blowing and the cheese looked like it was just dumped on the plate from the package. Service was good, she was working hard to be attentive to all of her tables.
Yum. Everything was delicious. (Service was superb!) My almost 2yr old nephew especially loved the meatballs, so much so, that a 2nd order was placed. Deep dish was fantastic as was the thin crust. Only bummer was there were no leftovers. Boo.
Really good service. Food was good and prompt.
The waiter was responsive and the deep dish pizza was great!
Great service and best deep dish. Not too “pasty”. I hate thick doughy crusts. Corn meal crust is my favorite. Really good tomato sauce. Meatballs are good and thumbs up to the salads. Barrata was good.
Acceptably salads and pizza. A bit pricey but the air conditioning on a hot day hit the spot
The outdoor dining was a really nice setting for the summer time and for our kids.
The Classic Deep Dish and Green Goddess salad with a nice glass of wine if our favorite way to relax any afternoon. The service is wonderful. We are delighted that Star is in our backyard.
Likes everything about the place but it is a bit too noisy. We sit outside or upstairs where it is quieter. We have been twice and both times had a good experience, food, service, and we like the atmosphere even if it is too noisy.
Solid, quality food in a kid-friendly environment. Alameda is finally coming up to SFBA food standards. :)
The corn meal crust was excellent. The server was very attentive.
Amazing place, definitely worth going to! The food, drinks and service all fantastic. We sat outside, had the wedge salad and pizza- lots of flavor. The waiter was very attentive but gave us space. Will go back for sure
Great place! The space is amazing! Surprising great salad options as well.
Food, delicious! But a beer and a coke cost me $12.50. Seems a bit high. Server wasn’t very attentive but over all we enjoyed ourselves.
Whenever I fly into town I have to stop in for dinner!
Went on Father’s Day, thus the place was BUSY! Restaurant Staff handled the dinner crowd professionally and under control. Meatballs were not as large as we have had previously, everything else was good.
I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and I finally went with my husband for dinner on a Sat night. I made reservations through open table, but when we got there, there were many tables available and we got a choice of a table for two next to the wall which gave us a bit more privacy. We ordered a thin pizza which was good and a mixed salad, but next time I will try the thick Chicago style one. Would recommend this place since it is quite unique since it was a bank building with marble carved walls and a bank vault behind the bar which is quite cool. Service was also good.
Excellent service and food. Good gluten free options
