The Star on Park
Amazing place, definitely worth going to! The food, drinks and service all fantastic. We sat outside, had the wedge salad and pizza- lots of flavor. The waiter was very attentive but gave us space. Will go back for sure
Great place! The space is amazing! Surprising great salad options as well.
Food, delicious! But a beer and a coke cost me $12.50. Seems a bit high. Server wasn’t very attentive but over all we enjoyed ourselves.
Whenever I fly into town I have to stop in for dinner!
Went on Father’s Day, thus the place was BUSY! Restaurant Staff handled the dinner crowd professionally and under control. Meatballs were not as large as we have had previously, everything else was good.
I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and I finally went with my husband for dinner on a Sat night. I made reservations through open table, but when we got there, there were many tables available and we got a choice of a table for two next to the wall which gave us a bit more privacy. We ordered a thin pizza which was good and a mixed salad, but next time I will try the thick Chicago style one. Would recommend this place since it is quite unique since it was a bank building with marble carved walls and a bank vault behind the bar which is quite cool. Service was also good.
Excellent service and food. Good gluten free options
Always great .with ..consistent quality in the deep dish pizza. A fun casual night out in charming safe Alameda.
I love the deep dish pizza so good. I would go back for the pizza get a small salad if there is just two people the medium is way to much. The drinks are really good I had the foxhound supper yummy, The restaurant is a little loud
It was good
I order a Mexico coke and pizza and veggie and chicken wings and salad
Our surfer was nice and his name is Liam f
Too cold inside, and yet the front door is left open for a cold ocean breeze to come through. That’s just not enjoyable.
Consistency is key, and all of the different Star restaurants always deliver on this concept. The thin crust Italian Combo pizza is a favorite, and it always leaves me feeling satisfied. Kick back a couple of El Cubano drinks if you're in the mood top have a great time. I always leave this joint feeling satisfied!
We were celebrating my daughter's birthday. We asked for a table upstairs as we thought it would be more quiet. It wasn't horrible but it was still a bit loud. We could still carry on conversations at our table with 5 people. We enjoyed the ambience of the renovated bank building. The chandeliers were beautiful. The service was good and the food and pizza was very good. We were expecting the pizzas to take 45 minutes like it says but they came much sooner than that and we were pleased. We enjoyed our dinner. One thing was that it was a bit stuffy up there with little air circulation. But we would come back again.
Serivice was a little slow. We ordered a salad and an app and 2 pizzas and the salad took a long time to come out, then the pizzas and appetizer came out at the same time, which was less than idea. The waiter was ok, but the runner was less than helpful.
Even though it was a Friday night we had the whole patio to ourselves. The food was delicious and overall we had a nice time.
That evening at Star was excellent.
The host graciously accommodated our request for a high table toward the back which gave our party of 8 a cozy gathering to chat over drinks & snacks.
Prices were certainly reasonable at our 8:30 pm happy hour timing and the quality of both the drinks and food were very satisfying.
A pleasant waiter who always seemed to be there when we needed him complimented the night as did the energetic and interesting ambience.
In sum, there was nothing to complain about whatsoever - all of the above helped lead to us having a great time.
We sat upstairs which I feel louder than when I was sat down stairs
Our vegetarian pizza was excellent! However, we did not like how loud it was inside. We would go back because the food was so good.
The pizza was amazing and the restaurant was just beautiful. It is an old bank that was turned into a restaurant so pretty with solid wood and crystal chandeliers.
Wonderful meal with good apps and pizza. Great bear, whiskey and wine selection. Really cool ambience with old bank redone and love the look.
Love the classic deep dish -- more spices and flavors than at Zachary's
Star does thin crust really well, too -- the mushroom vegetarian version was quite tasty, too.
Was seated in the mezzanine upstairs -- really noisy, but not cramped space-wise.
Will go back when on the island...
Went for dinner with a friend of mine. The decor was lovely - I believe it was an old bank. They were able to utilize the vault doors and chandeliers as unique eye catching design element. Now most importantly...the food and drinks. Sooooooo good!!!!!!
I had the all American deep dish pizza- meatballs, pepperoni, sausage and bacon. It took 45 minutes to make and it was well worth it. The pizza was so thick, meats combined was divine and the cheese stretching when cutting a slice was decadent on it own.
The drinks were nice as well- strong - which I am not complaining about. Our waiter was great answered our question and well informed about dietary restrictions particularly gluten free options
For two pizza (my friend got loads of toppings which add up), 4 drinks between us, and chicken wings the total was $91.
Would definitely come back here but bring your appetite or get ready to take food home!
I got a Mexico coke and salad and water and pizza
The best deep dish pizza outside of Chicago. Loved my Bourbon cocktail and side of meatballs.
Great deep dish pizza!! A wonderful addition to Park Street in Alameda.
The pizza is delish staff is great! Love the atmosphere
I like the bar and the service is good in the restaurant. I didn't care for the food in general, just average.
As always the star on park delivered exceptional service and fantastic food, roasted cauliflower; A+mazing, Greek salad; Magnificent, deep dish little star pizza, the best. I will return
Beautiful old bank building restored as a restaurant. Top notch kitchen and service.
Great ambience. Recommend for any and all occasions!
Service is on the slower side and it took 10-15 minutes before anyone came over to say hello to us. Luckily, the staff members who did eventually help us were really nice and made up for us feeling ignored when we were first seated.
Great pizza, friendly and fast service, good ambiance!
Yummy food. Great service. One of our favorite restaurants.
We thought the pizza was excellent. The thin crust vegetarian we loved. I thought there was a bit too much reduced balsamic vinegar drizzled on it. So, it drowned some of the other flavors).Next time, I will ask for it on the side. I don't like deep dish pizza as much as a thin crust. But, my husband really liked the meatball deep dish pizza.
Our server was excellent.
The only thing was the food was a bit slow at coming out. (not the servers fault). The green goddess salad was very good... a bit too much dressing. I would definitely go back.
Way too noisy when it’s busy. Even kids complaint about the noise so it’s pretty bad.
Otherwise, good is good but no kids menu.
Too loud. poor service. Stingy drinks.expensive pizza.
Such a shame.
Went there several times all of them tried to sit on the upper floor but the waiter never allows us to go up when there is other ppl sitting there. I think they don't get the tips from the upper floor and that is why they make some excuse for us not to go up, won't go again.
This is a new local restaurant specializing in pizza and sandwiches. The restaurant is located in an old Wells Fargo Bank building and it keeps many features of the bank without being kitchy. There is great marble work around the vault behind the bar. The vault was open and probably used for bar storage.
They have great baked wings, and other items that do not require a fryer. The pizza was great, the salad was very good, and the services was attentive without being intrusive.
We had a great table on the balcony and the service was great! The food was good as well. Ambience was nice and it wasn’t too noisy (although it did get significantly noisier during the dinner rush around 7:30pm). Nice place to eat deep dish pizza!
It was amazing food and hospitality! It was a busy night but everything we asked for we received. And the menu list was just as tasty as the description! We will be back!
Best restaurant in Alameda!
Gluten and dairy free options - best pizza Ever! Wait staff is efficient and friendly. Restaurant was spotless. Wine choices were fabulous. We can’t wait to go back!
