The Star on Park
Great pizza and appetizers!
I would recommend THE STAR for my friends as long as I also let them know that the restaurant can be loud...voices truly carry here.
The flavors in the food are amazing...the wedge salad being on of the tastiest I have had in quite a while. BUT...the amount of toppings on our pizza was a disappointment. We had the chicken pesto, but with a thin layer of pesto and not much chicken. If we return, we will make the request for additional toppings!
Great for an evening after any event... or just a night out for some good pizza.... or drinks... or even better, both.
Great for pizza both deep dish & thin crust. Good cocktails & wine.
We had a great time. The food was really good, especially the chicken wings and the deep dish pizza, and it's a warm, welcoming place.
Great pizza for both regular and gluten-free pizza! Gluten-free family member loved their gluten-free crust (thin only) and everyone else loved the deep dish. Their interior is absolutely gorgeous, great for date nights and family birthday parties. Love it!
I have always been a fan of The Star and have eaten there well over a dozen times. Unfortunately, it seems the quality of the cheese and thin crust have decreased. We were disappointed. The cauliflower and chicken wing side dishes were both great as usual. I love the atmosphere and the people are always really nice and efficient. I will give it another try but if they started using cheaper cheese, there are better pizza options.
It is extremely loud there! But food is good, service people are always friendly.
Very comfortable and chic—-would be nice if staff could handle multiple tabs
It was good I order pizza and soda and salad
We went there for lunch before a flight. I had wanted to try the restaurant but always something else came up. It was great. In the afternoon there were only a handful of people dining. Service was great. Not hovering but always attentive. We ordered a pizza thin crust. It was perfect. I was glad to see there have AIB beer on tap...keep it local! I cant wait to return.
This review is only for the pizza which was greasy and pretty bland. We got a thin crust, half red sauce with pepperoni & Olives, half white pizza with Mozzarella instead of feta. Very bland. My friend LOVES this place but it was not for me. It was also prime time for toddlers and given the vaulted ceilings was really really loud. The burrata appetizer was as expected but nothing out mind blowing and the cheese looked like it was just dumped on the plate from the package. Service was good, she was working hard to be attentive to all of her tables.
Yum. Everything was delicious. (Service was superb!) My almost 2yr old nephew especially loved the meatballs, so much so, that a 2nd order was placed. Deep dish was fantastic as was the thin crust. Only bummer was there were no leftovers. Boo.
Really good service. Food was good and prompt.
The waiter was responsive and the deep dish pizza was great!
Great service and best deep dish. Not too “pasty”. I hate thick doughy crusts. Corn meal crust is my favorite. Really good tomato sauce. Meatballs are good and thumbs up to the salads. Barrata was good.
Acceptably salads and pizza. A bit pricey but the air conditioning on a hot day hit the spot
The outdoor dining was a really nice setting for the summer time and for our kids.
The Classic Deep Dish and Green Goddess salad with a nice glass of wine if our favorite way to relax any afternoon. The service is wonderful. We are delighted that Star is in our backyard.
Likes everything about the place but it is a bit too noisy. We sit outside or upstairs where it is quieter. We have been twice and both times had a good experience, food, service, and we like the atmosphere even if it is too noisy.
Solid, quality food in a kid-friendly environment. Alameda is finally coming up to SFBA food standards. :)
The corn meal crust was excellent. The server was very attentive.
Amazing place, definitely worth going to! The food, drinks and service all fantastic. We sat outside, had the wedge salad and pizza- lots of flavor. The waiter was very attentive but gave us space. Will go back for sure
Great place! The space is amazing! Surprising great salad options as well.
Food, delicious! But a beer and a coke cost me $12.50. Seems a bit high. Server wasn’t very attentive but over all we enjoyed ourselves.
Whenever I fly into town I have to stop in for dinner!
Went on Father’s Day, thus the place was BUSY! Restaurant Staff handled the dinner crowd professionally and under control. Meatballs were not as large as we have had previously, everything else was good.
I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and I finally went with my husband for dinner on a Sat night. I made reservations through open table, but when we got there, there were many tables available and we got a choice of a table for two next to the wall which gave us a bit more privacy. We ordered a thin pizza which was good and a mixed salad, but next time I will try the thick Chicago style one. Would recommend this place since it is quite unique since it was a bank building with marble carved walls and a bank vault behind the bar which is quite cool. Service was also good.
Excellent service and food. Good gluten free options
Always great .with ..consistent quality in the deep dish pizza. A fun casual night out in charming safe Alameda.
I love the deep dish pizza so good. I would go back for the pizza get a small salad if there is just two people the medium is way to much. The drinks are really good I had the foxhound supper yummy, The restaurant is a little loud
It was good
I order a Mexico coke and pizza and veggie and chicken wings and salad
Our surfer was nice and his name is Liam f
Too cold inside, and yet the front door is left open for a cold ocean breeze to come through. That’s just not enjoyable.
Consistency is key, and all of the different Star restaurants always deliver on this concept. The thin crust Italian Combo pizza is a favorite, and it always leaves me feeling satisfied. Kick back a couple of El Cubano drinks if you're in the mood top have a great time. I always leave this joint feeling satisfied!
We were celebrating my daughter's birthday. We asked for a table upstairs as we thought it would be more quiet. It wasn't horrible but it was still a bit loud. We could still carry on conversations at our table with 5 people. We enjoyed the ambience of the renovated bank building. The chandeliers were beautiful. The service was good and the food and pizza was very good. We were expecting the pizzas to take 45 minutes like it says but they came much sooner than that and we were pleased. We enjoyed our dinner. One thing was that it was a bit stuffy up there with little air circulation. But we would come back again.
Serivice was a little slow. We ordered a salad and an app and 2 pizzas and the salad took a long time to come out, then the pizzas and appetizer came out at the same time, which was less than idea. The waiter was ok, but the runner was less than helpful.
Even though it was a Friday night we had the whole patio to ourselves. The food was delicious and overall we had a nice time.
That evening at Star was excellent.
The host graciously accommodated our request for a high table toward the back which gave our party of 8 a cozy gathering to chat over drinks & snacks.
Prices were certainly reasonable at our 8:30 pm happy hour timing and the quality of both the drinks and food were very satisfying.
A pleasant waiter who always seemed to be there when we needed him complimented the night as did the energetic and interesting ambience.
In sum, there was nothing to complain about whatsoever - all of the above helped lead to us having a great time.
We sat upstairs which I feel louder than when I was sat down stairs
Our vegetarian pizza was excellent! However, we did not like how loud it was inside. We would go back because the food was so good.
The pizza was amazing and the restaurant was just beautiful. It is an old bank that was turned into a restaurant so pretty with solid wood and crystal chandeliers.
