The Star and Eagle Goudhurst

I never write reviews but I had to about this place. The service and food was amazing! We received such a warm welcome, they couldn’t have been any more accommodating for us with our 2 year old. The food was really nice and definitely worth every penny. This place is a real gem and we will be returning!

We had a very pleasant Saturday evening dinner here, not having visited for several years due to feeling the food and service didn't match the wonderful hilltop location. Pleased to say that it was very good - not full gastro, a little too traditional for that, but a distinct cut above 'pub food' . Service was very friendly and a reasonably covid-secure venue.

Really enjoyed the evening here, will go again. The meal was really nice.

6 of us went for Sunday Lunch, the food and service was outstanding and the house white wine was delicious, we will definitely be returning.

I love the Star and Eagle. We are local and eat there regularly. It is very atmospheric and is one of the few places where you can hear yourself think! We are very lucky to have three very good pubs in the village and this is one of them!

Lovely pub with delicious food, nothing is ever too much trouble for the friendly staff, it brings us back again and again. 5 stars

Staff very attentive, didn't have to wait too long for food to arrive. The freshly baked bread we had while we waited for our main was a little on the hard side and could of come out warm. The mains were lovely. Didn't have enough room for dessert! It was rather noisy but there was a wedding going on, wasnt sure if there was another dining area to dine in as we were in the dining area near the bar. It was a little draughty but it is an old building and the weather outside was very windy.

Perfect evening with great company and good food. It couldn't have been better.

Great welcome and a lovely fuss made of two of our party as it was both of their birthdays. Food was delicious and really can’t criticise anything about our visit, ambiance, staff, food and drink all first class, we will definitely be back.

Second visit in a few months and each time everything was excellent. Would highly recommend a visit both for dining and staying.

Was disappointed in the Crepe. Too sloppy and too rich. Staff friendly. Wine preferred on table. Noisy people at bar. Not as good as last experience.

The pub is old and beautiful. The food was outstanding we ate in the garden. The staff were attentive and helpful

We were greeted on arrival and imediately seated. Staff were so genuinely friendly and helpful. Food was freshly cooked and good portion sizes. Good quality and very tasty! I would definately go there again.

Fabulous service from friendly waitresses, delicious food & yummy puddings. Great space, lovely big table with no crowding in around us. Highly recommended

Lovely dinner here with my wife! We ate in the dining room rather than the bar , the food and service were first-class. Lovely calm surroundings with plenty of ambiance too!

food took ages to arrive and when it did it was luke warm , over cooked and burnt and hard. The fried eggs (Ham and eggs dish) was well over fried with heavily burnt edges. The belly pork was small , again over cooked with burnt crackling that you would break your teeth on.

Excellent food. Very hot and lovely flavours. I had the sea bass and my husband had the steak and kidney pie. Very good, amenable service. In fact, all members of staff were delightful. Looking forward to going again. Would recommend to friends.

I had driven past the Star and Eagle a few days earlier and thought what a wonderful old building. Was having on of those “I really can’t be bothered cooking” nights so thought I’d give it a try. Drove the 20 min from Tunbridge Wells and delighted we did. A lovely country pub with delicious winter comfort food. The service was excellent. I’d definitely recommend this pub and will be returning again sooner rather than later

Relaxed but good quality. A lovely anniversary lunch. Great to see local wine on the menu by the glass. Excellent stilton, chard and walnut wellington. Friendly service.

Service incredibly slow, they needed more staff. Even though I rang and confirmed our booking on the morning of the meal our table was set for the wrong number of people, food was ok but the meal was quite expensive. My vegetarian burger was akin to eating dry polystyrene.

Staff went out of their way to offer an alternative drink when they had run out of one of the ingredients. Very friendly and the views are outstanding.

Outstanding in every way, nothing too much trouble, the best birthday venue we've ever had. Our American guests were very impressed.
