The Stanton Social Ratings and Reviews
Proposed to my long time girlfriend while walking through NYC and decided to surprise her with diner at the Stanton Social based on a friends recommendation. The food did not disappoint! Everything we had was delicious, and even though they serve small sharable plates there was plenty of it! I had also commented when making the reservation that I was planning on proposing that day and they surprised us with some delicious donuts and champagne. We will definitely go back here in the future!
This was the worst experience. We had a reservation for 9 and table was still not ready till 9:45. We got there early to even let them know we were there. No information from host, she was completely rude and not communicating properly. Spoke with manager and she kept asking us to grab a drink and they had busy night. Not sure how that’s relevant when we had reservation made ahead of time. I had party of 7 and last min we had to go somewhere else.
Ambiance was cool, good music, a place to bring groups of friends and food was fast and delicious. Downfall, waited 45 minutes for our table when we had reservations, and it was like that with every table in front of us. I saw a lot of reviews with the same issue.
Food was good but the service was obnoxious. Portions are small for the price. The waiter was constantly trying to upsell us in an extremely condescending way. He literally said: when you buy a bottle of wine you get more wine for less money. So you’re telling me you want to pay more for less?
Everything I had was amazing (chicken taquito, French onion dumplings, fries, mac and cheese, Kobe burger and Philly cheesesteak which I ended up ordering another because they're just so bomb) in addition to those items I had what used to be a staple on their menu, the chicken and waffle :( this is the biggest disappointment. I've been going to Stanton since I was 20 (almost 10 yrs ago) and the reason I fell in love with the restaurant was the chicken and waffles. It was brick pressed, w some kind of creamy corn, a sweet glaze on top and scallion (something like that, it was amazing) every time I come in I cross my fingers that it's prepared that way :( unfortunately NOW it's fried w the spiciest batter they could come up w and a nasty variation of a waffle. Sorry chef, do better. (Bring the old prep back! And the Cajun shrimp)
reservation was for 7:45pm and our fault we showed up 10minutes late. They wouldn't seat us until all parties where there(other person came 5min later) Said it wouldn't be long but we ended up not getting sitted until 9ish. If it wasn't for the manager I wouldn't even give it the good stars I did. Crazy loud
Amazing service, fantastic courses of delicious morsels of delectable cuisine, paired with the best mango, sage and gin cocktail in NYC! French onion dumplings, sweet potato and goat cheese pierogies and short rib beef and broccoli were so pleasing on the palate, that it almost made me forget the hour long wait for our reserved table :(
Our wonderful group of 8 were tremendously patient and understanding, however we were celebrating a milestone birthday, that was completely overlooked by management!
Definitely worth the wait, just a little bit of TLC to go the extra mile for customer retention!
Very slow service. Practically everyone in the restaurant got their meal before we received anything other than poorly shucked oysters. Don't ask any details about the oysters, the server could only tell us that they had east and west!! No further details until going and finding out. Amazing.
The only good thing about the experience is that the staff quickly identified that they had messed up and comped us our two drinks and six oysters. An hour plus long experience.
We took my mother there for her 74th birthday. Booked a week in advance and used special notes section in open table. Apparently they do not read these. Had to equest a booth again at check in. Was told diner selections would come out at a nice pace. They dropped the first 5 All at once then pretty much did the same with the last three. They switched waiters mid service saying one had to leave, while all the while he kept passing by our table to serve the next booth. Service was mediocre.
The food was superb. Except the birthday cupcake was terrible, cheaply made and presentation is poor. This restaurant is pricey for the location the chef is very lucky he has a name on chopped but the service was terrible and the Tuna poke was not fresh and presentation was poor. If there’s three people on the table you only get three? What’s that all about? Odd. Also the saffron bucatini was dripping w oil. Disgusting ... we barely touched it but since the waitress hardly returned to our table we just let it go and moved forward w our meals.
Also the bidders are so fast to get you out of the restaurant that our dish was cleared off table before we could say no please don’t take it we’re not done. So the service lacks professionalism and curteousy to communicate effectively .
I had a 9:30pm reservation for 6 people and we weren't seated till 10:45- when everyone was there at 9:20. I called to let the hostess know it was a birthday celebration just to make her aware it was a special occasion (and I also had to drop off a cake earlier in the day), and that clearly didn't matter. The bouncer wouldn't allow us to go talk to the hostess when it became an increasingly long wait, so we weren't even allowed to complain or ask questions. This has now happened three times at this restaurant, and the food is just not worth it. Terrible hospitality.
Loved everything about it- excellent service and we took recommendations from our waitress who never steered us wrong! Knew we wanted to try the French Onion Soup Dumplings, but she also suggested Pierogis which were delicious. Beef Wellington, Meatballs and Cobb Salad were also favorites. We will be back and will recommend to friends. Just a comfortable place, a friendly atmosphere and superior service.
Came from Los Angeles for two nights and decided to come back to this spot, like before it didn’t disappoint, food was great service wasn’t bad at all we just had a great time. Music was really nice as we sat at a table by the bar. Overall if in ny definitely hit this place up and vandal.
I went to this place on a recommendation from a coworker and was very impressed. The food was absolutely amazing. If you go here and don't get the french onion soup dumplings, you're doing it wrong. I could have eaten about four more orders of them. Service was great and the bartender upstairs was very prompt and friendly. This is a great place for a girl's night out or date night.
Loved this place. We went after the theatre and had late night dinner. The restaurant was still busy and it is was terribly cute. The restaurant serves small plates which is nice so late at night didn't need to eat a whole 4 course meal. We had drinks and four small plates and the food was delicious. We will definitely return.
Went with my husband on a Saturday night. We were looking for a place with good food and good music to dine in. Music was not great, 90s hits most of the time, not my preference. The food was amazing, everything we order was on point. We love it!!! Definitely going back!
