The Standard. One of Hamilton's most revered restaurants, has laid down its roots on James St N. With our everchanging menu, seasonal & local inspiration and forward approach to dining, our commitment to excellence shows in everything we do. We strive to provide a memorable experience each day, it is just what we love to do.

From our in house butchery or cooking over charcoal, to working with local suppliers in our community We challenge the way we all think about Food & Drink.

The Chef's table is a 7-course, exclusive blind Tasting Menu, composed of the best of the season. These are ring side seats right in front of the Kitchen where you will get to see and experience the stress, pressure and rapid fire execution of how a fast-paced restaurant engine runs. This is not for the faint-hearted, your experience will give you a front row seat to how it all goes down. Strap in, it's going to be a hell of a ride. Elevate your experience with pairings from our reserve wine list or a mixology pairing form our bar team. We met for a last meal with 4 friends before we return home. Ryan, our waiter, was excellent, professional, friendly and funny. Exceptional food, I had the Salmon - so good. The Key Lime Brûlée was amazing.

Always a great experience going to the standard. The food never fails to impress, and the drinks are always lovely. the service I have received the past few times going to the standard has been amazing, most recently Kate. Would recommend to anyone in the area !

Very professional and friendly staff! Amazing food and drinks ! Only suggestion I have please can you get rid of those very deep bowls you serve some dishes in ? I had a duck that was delicious but could not find a comfortable way to operate fork and knife inside the dip bowl :) Regardless amazing restaurant!! Thank you !

From the second we walked in the door, we knew that we were going to have a great experience. Ryan, I believe that is our waiter’s name, was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and just a wonderful human being. The food was amazing! We will definitely be back.

We went to The Standard for our anniversary and had a lovely meal. We were given exceptional service by Abigail and Alex. Abigail was attentive but not overbearing, the time between courses was perfectly timed and the drinks came quickly. Loved the music and the decor/vibe. We will definitely be returning!!

The open kitchen concept makes for a very unique environment. I would recommend hearing the specials and listening to the server for recommendations based on what they have that is popular at that time. Great atmosphere paired with delicious well plated food.

Amazing food and service the Waldorf salad was incredible, and our server Vincent was such an amazing kind human. We will be back !

The Standard is a really good restaurant for dinner with friends or as a couple. The menu is small, the service is outstanding and the prices for most of the menu items are pretty reasonable. Well worth a second visit!
