Amazing cocktails, delicious food, wonderful staff! Can’t wait to come back again!
Changed up the menu which I support...but should be clear that their chicken for chicken and waffles is dark meat only. Most places are breast meat. Unfortunately I hate dark meat. And it was over breaded.
We dined as a party of six on a Friday evening. Our service was excellent; our server was friendly, and although busy, spent plenty of time explaining things to us and making sure she understood what we wanted. The food was delicious. We each had something different; salads, raw oysters, oysters Rockefeller, lobster bisque (very nice rich stock!). For main courses, we had tuna, swordfish, bouillabaisse, lamb chops, beef bourgingon, and pasta. Everything was creatively done. Another reviewer had noted that the lamb was underdone; we ordered it one "color" greater than we wanted it, and it arrived just as we had hoped. I would definitely return!
Anniversary dinner was excellent!
It was a birthday
Good food and superb service but very expensive.
We enjoyed the unique, but french influenced, dishes at this restaurant. It was a good "date night" venue. The bartender is very good in making unique cocktails as well. As one might find in a fine french restaurant, they baked excellent bread!
Cocktails were good. Oysters were good. Lamb chops ordered med rare were xtra rare, we call that blue. My husband’s steak was properly cooked but potatoes were cold. Desert was good.
Downtown prices without the downtown excitement. Food was good not great
Onion soup was extremely salty. Mussel broth was also salty. The ribeye was tasty.
What a great remodel of a former establishment. The decor and ambiance are very lovely and with better weather it would be so nice to sit on the porches. We had dinner here for Sweetest Day. The service was spectacular, thank you Tracy. The bread, soup, appetizer (mushroom pate) was memorable. I had steak, which was nothing to write home about, but prepared properly. My S.O. had scallops, and unfortunately they arrived cold. They were promptly remade and a free dessert was offered to make up for the issue. We enjoyed the wine recommended to us and truly love the space. We will go back to see how a second trip works out.
Took a while to get order in. Server didn’t introduce herself, had to ask her name. Appetizer came out before our wine. Server seemed to be a little overwhelmed at first. The food was fantastic.
Brunch was simply wonderful. Atmosphere pleasant with view of trees turning fall colors. Jenna welcoming and efficient. Knew the new menu with new chef. Lobster bisque savory. More pieces of lobster would have made it a “10” and more filling. 3 cheese ravioli topped w/ “runny egg” was delightful, filling. Bread pudding with lemon curd also on menu. Took “to go” and it was a very tasty breakfast the next day. Tart, perfectly done pudding. Candied lemon a nice touch.
People at The Standard are simply nice and seem to like what they do. And it shows.
It was our first time at the Standard and we enjoyed it very much! We had a double date with adults only, but also saw families and would feel comfortable bringing our (older elementary aged) children to the restaurant.
The decor is fresh and charming. The butcher counter also was a neat surprise, and very distracting for our meat-loving spouses. The bar had a relaxed atmosphere, our cocktails were delicious, and there is a broad scotch, whiskey, and French wine selection.
Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, and also very clear about where the ingredients came from (the vast majority was local, which is what we were looking for). We opted for various beef dishes and cassoulet, and all were delicious. Lovely cheese plate and desserts as well. The restaurant clearly cares about the quality of, and respects, the ingredients it chooses to present.
We’ll definitely be back to try more things on the menu.
The food was delicious; you can tell it's a real chef in the kitchen who cares about quality and presentation. Lots of care and attention to detail was evident in appetizer, entrees, and desserts. The front of house manager was coming around checking on diners; he was very friendly. Our server was also very pleasant. The only criticism is that service was slow, even though the restaurant was not that busy. It took more than 10 minutes before we were given a glass of water, and the pace of service never got any faster. Still, we will return for lunch or dinner in future. The food is outstanding! The general manager is also attentive to guests.
We came today because the restaurant had given me a gift certificate as a result or a poor review several months ago. Nothing much has changed. Came for the brunch---cold potatoes, undercooked bacon, slow and later apologetic service. This place tries to be somewhat upscale but continually misses. We've had better breakfasts at Kathy's and the Coney Island down the street.
Everything on the surface seems very appealing-the decor is nice, the menu is full of interesting options and yet sadly in reality nothing delivers. The food was bland without much flavor, the service was bad and all in all it was a flat and disappointing experience. We had high hopes for this restaurant, but in the end it was underwhelming and fell far short of expectations.
Second time at this establishment. Great brown spirits selection and the food selection is broad and everyone enjoyed their selections. I definitely come back.
This was not as good as usual. The service was mediocre. The fish dish was nothing special and the coffee was warm but not hot.
Food was mediocre. Some items were not described properly on the menu. We will stick to downtown Ann Arbor next time
Ambiance very nice. Food delicious. Service attentive. Good wine by the glass selections.
Very good. My meal was beef bourgeon and was over cooked. The meals of my companions were better. Very good wine.
Sat at a high top on a Friday night. It was pretty busy with a couple of private parties there, but the waitstaff was great with us, who were there with either of the groups. Food is fabulous. Great wine list and very helpful, attentive staff. This is rapidly becoming a new favorite for me.
We have been here a number of times. The food is always interesting but has an only about an even chance of being tasty. Antipasto appetizer with house-made sausage has always been excellent. Onion soup was astoundingly salty - I like salt but it was too much for me and ruined the soup. One diner had the muscle entree and despite being a voracious eater did not finish the dish because of the overwhelming acidity of the broth though it tasted good at first. I had the bouillabaisse that had so much fennel that it completely overpowered the seafood and could not taste the fish. I too could not finish the dish because of it. The steak was good. I think either the chef's tastes are so different from mine or they don't taste their dishes. They have been open a while now and seem to have a good following but I think it will be a while till I come back again. So I recommend it with some caveats - always interesting but not always what I hope.
Excellent food and dining! This was our first time at The Standard but we will definitely be back. Great selection of classic French dishes with lots of variety. We both ordered red meats, meat was cooked to perfection, sides were delish. Good wine list and some French specialities. Enjoyed everything from cocktails to dessert! I noted 'Quite' but it was a Monday night (for my birthday) so figures. I'm not sure what the weekends are like but we hope to be back from brunch soon! I only took one star away on service because our waiter was a little awkward. He was very attentive but my *only* actual complaint was that he did not box our food at the end of dinner. He brought the container to the table. This would have struck me as odd at a resturant of this caliber regardless but it was especially funny to see right after watching the waiter at the table next to us box their food. So I'm not sure what made him decide to do that but if that's all I have to complain about then good sign :) Try it out! You won't regret it.
Loved our dinners. Portions were large and the food really good.
The superior service only adds to an already great menu, presentation, serving size, and blessed quiet.
We've had "our" server before--what a master of the art!
Everyone we talked to on the staff reflects the great care that goes into this place.
Service was excellent as well as our food.
Both food & service is inconsistent in this restaurant. Notice menu tweaking every visit ( and I go weekly for lunch or dinner) and quality is not consistent from visit to visit.
Parking is great and it’s convenient location on /off interstate for meeting out of towers . That said...
With so many options in the ANN Arbor area, this high end restaurant needs to figure it out.
The Jardiniere salad was not as good as normal. We were disappointed that the Montrachet was not available.
service and caring staff add to the excellent food. Owner showed us the larder and how those foods come together. This is simply a lovely place. Wide windows and strategic plantings make it bright and inviting for a late summer lunch.
Excellent food and service. Celebrating our anniversary and upon learning that our server took the dessert off the bill. Definitely will return!
We arrived for our reservation on time and had to wait for 30 minutes because our table wouldn't get up. Ended up outside which was fine..not as nice as inside (we discovered). They comped us 2 apps for the wait..waitress was lovely and the food was good. Better to sit inside and enjoy the pretty restaurant. BTW, the bartenders are awesome and taught us about different Vermouths..would go back for the bar anytime
Service was outstanding! Food was delicious! We will return.
French onion was too salty. Food was just ok for brunch despite the presentation and preamble from waitstaff. Ambience and decor is probably my favorite thing about the place, really lovely.
Good food, great service. A good variety of options.
Menu ever tweaking with new Executive Chef and seasonal offerings so don’t get attached to a dish, especially a salad or dessert.
Decor is modern but flowers don’t seem to change.
Tuna salad is superior as are most menu items. A delightful place for quiet lunches.
Very satisfied with the food and the service. Booths were comfortable. Pricey but worth it.
