The Stalking Horse
Absolutely love this place! Great burgers, chips, and old-fashioned (drink). They also have a really awesome salad with beets on the menu.
We had a coupon for 2 free brunches- had i paid for the meal i would have asked for a refund. the crispy french toast with macerated berries was burnt and there was one strawberry sliced on top. the coconut cream had no coconut flavor at all. The Yorkshire pudding was very over done, and everything needed salt- even the pork belly!!
Great place to catch a game or try out some different beers!
We sat down at 7 pm on Friday night. It was a little busy, lively I would say, but not packed or full by any means. No one from the staff, absolutely no one stopped to check in or take our order or even glanced in our direction for 12 minutes as the servers and bartenders zipped by. I finally flagged down one of the servers and asked him to send someone to our table. He mumbled "sure" under his breath then sped by and took two other orders from other tables. We finally up and left after 17 minutes.
The cocktails, especially the “King’s G&T” and the beer were excellent. The food was fine for pub food. It’s nice to know that there are vegetarian/vegan choices for the members of my family who want them. It’s just not for me. I wish they had the real Welsh rarebit as a choice in addition to the vegan version that they serve. The chips were excellent, nice and crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The fish was okay. It was cooked well but could have used some seasoning. My husband’s burger was good. Our server was great. Attentive and knowledgeable.
Only one - two servers, and open seating. Its really neat for the drinks/bar but would definitely not recommend it for the food. Less than average fish and chips (two pieces of fish by the way and very dry) with giant fries that does not have the same crunch as regular fries for $20.
We come here a lot after the movies at the Landmark. Its also a good place to watch a game that is not as intense as some of the sports bars. It has a good menu with great comfort pies (chicken, lamb) and they make their own beer. Service is good and finding street parking is never a problem. They have an small outdoor patio so it is pet friendly. They also have a room in the back that is good for parties.
Great but pricey food!l and drinks.
Crowded for dineLA and Rams/Cowboys game but the servers did a good job. About our 4th time for dinner. Food is good and drinks and beer same. Great neighborhood spot. Plan to continue to patronize
Had a great time, will be back! I am adding more words here because I need 50 characters to submit the review.
Found this place for a meal after a trip to LA for the Rose Bowl. Met a friend here as well as it was a good middle point from us in KTown and him in Redondo.
Service was iffy, slow...there was only a handful of people in the place, yet drinks ran dry, took forever to order. Further, we showed up at 7 to eat. We finished with our evening about 8:45. We were the only folks seated in the dining room, with a solo person at the bar. The staff were sweeping up the dining room, putting chairs on tables, while we were still eating. Our waiter came over, I think his shift was over, and told us if we needed anything to ask the bartender, he was leaving. Kind of weird. Got a bad vibe as if we were preventing them from closing for the night, even though posted hours will until midnight.
Food was good, beer was good, but vibe and staff suck.
Great se vice and good food, but they need a few more option on the menu.
We enjoyed The Stalking Horse but everything was SUPER over-salted-- maybe to get you to buy more beer? Besides the salt it was yummy and I would be willing to try a brunch there to see if it was maybe just an off night -- but like, everything (even salad!) was almost unedible due to the salt. And the service was SUPER slow and hard to get in contact with if you needed anything. They only had 3 people working the front of the house (pretty big place) on a Sunday evening and it was pretty busy so it was just super slow but not their faults.
Without a doubt the poorest service I’ve ever received
Pro’s has my table waiting for me when I arrived
Con’s Took over 10 minutes for someone to bring us menus
Con’s Another 15 to get some water and someone to take our order (they did not seem to be that busy)
Major Con’s brought my daughters meal Cheeseburger and fries out without my wife’s salad or my fish and chips and if it wasn’t for my wife after my daughter had finished her entire meal getting up and asking the hostess to check on our meals we might still be waiting fir them to be brought to our table
Barkeep Lisa is everything! Great drinks and hospitable. This local spot is what our neighborhood needed. A perfect pub with great craft beer and really good food served by happy and smart tenders.
Loved meeting up with a buddy for dinner and a few beers. Would recommend the place for anyone looking for good beer and a relaxed atmosphere.
Food is pretty average. I think this place is mainly for the beers.
A really great British pub!! I love it here and it's a popular neighborhood hangout. Their food is so good but especially the burgers and their chicken tikka marsala pasty. Only complaint from the last visit is that the temperature was so cold we had to leave!
Very tasty food!
Good selection of fresh brewed beer. Food was decent to average but service was great.
