It was really nice, relaxing, with good food and drinks. I am sad to hear they ate shutting their doors, I hope it is not permanent.

Overall, this was one of the best dinners we have had. Sadly, the restaurant was nearly empty. Jeffery our server was excellent. Despite a limited menu we found items we loved. I had a sparkling Malbec to start: who ever heard of that? Terrific! My wife and I shared a unique calamari app, with a spicy tomato sauce that distinguished it from the common fried variety; a real treat. My wife had the Bavette steak, which she loved and had enough to bring home for our Bichon. My entree was “tuna, tuna, tuna,” a dish including seared tuna, tuna tartare, and tuna sashimi. Each and together, this was one of my favorite entrees of all time, anywhere! Incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. We were comped a fantastic NY cheesecake, in honor of my wife’s birthday, which I dominated. She thought this was the perfect birthday celebration. Everything was wonderful!

Steak was not seasoned and was undercooked The fish was dry probably because it was overcooked. Disappointed.

This was, by far, the worst experience my husband and I have ever had at a restaurant. I was served a bar drink with a bug in it The server gave the drink to the bartender and asked him to remake it. As he was bringing the replacement drink to our table, I noticed him putting his fingers in the drink to remove another bug. Clearly, his bar fruit had bugs in it from not being cleaned thoroughly. When I asked him if there was another bug in my drink, he acknowledged that there was, and then went back to the bar to throw away the second drink to make me another one. We ordered an appetizer which was described one way on the menu and was presented with different ingredients than the description. The calamari tasted like rubber and had no grill marks on it, as the menu described. We ordered a lobster roll only for them to tell us at that point they were out of lobster. After that, we decided to close out the check and eat the rest of our meal someplace else. This was a Monday night and only two other tables in the entire restaurant were occupied. Both the server and the bartender treated us as if we were an inconvenience to them. We will never go back here. There are so many good restaurants to choose from who are working hard to retain customers, this in not of them. So disappointing to see such terrible service and food.

This is a great place, and the service is very good. We had planned to eat outside, but because of the weather, we opted for indoors, which was possible because it was not crowded at 5 pm. We had the calamari appetizer, the coconut salad, and the steak--all delicious. We want to make sure this place stays in business so we will be back frequently. (Talk about putting your money where your mouth is--this is the right way to indulge.) Bon appetite!

My husband's dinner was overcooked and my trio of tuna was absolutely tasteless. We had to beg for forks for dessert and my lemons never arrived. I had a bad experience several month's ago and thought it was a fluke but now I know this is just a restaurant going downhill.

A bit pricier than we expected but food was very good and the presentation was elegant. I did make the reservation after seeing that they were serving white glogg on Fridays only during Evanston's Hygge Fest. However, they did not have the glogg so that was a huge disappointment, as we would not have eaten there otherwise. Oh, well . . .

Table for 8 was set up using a table meant for 6, worked out ok after other patrons adjusted their tables to allow us to sit comfortably. Food was good generally, halibut was really dry but Scallops, tuna, duck, and rack of lamb all got thumbs up as did the lobster bisque and brussel sprout salad. Deviled eggs were very mild, almost too much. Craft cocktails were creative and well made. French silk tart was a bunch of whip cream and virtually no chocolate, but chocolate cake was terrific. Worth trying if you want decent American bistro type food.

My husband and I went to The Stained Glass for Valentine's Day. He wanted to know why it was called The Stained Glass as we didn't see any stained glass in the decorations. The staff was very solicitous and attentive. However, the appetizers, cocktail options and entrees weren't especially interesting. I was very excited to try the foie gras appetizer. Long ago, my husband worked at Le Francais so we were excited to try this again. There was only a sliver of foie gras on a rectangle of toast. When I told my husband there wasn't much foie gras on the appetizer, he thought I was joking. He lifted up the bread and exclaimed, "Where's the foie gras?" In Vegas, we'd had the most expensive $100 hamburger in the world, which had a thick slab of foie gras. Between Las Vegas, Le Francais and Le Titi, all restaurants we've been to, the foie gras appetizer was disappointing.

An elegant restaurant with a rustic personalized touch. First time there. We loved it. Food selection has some unique dished and craft cocktails. My wife had a Kir Royale followed by a three glass red wine flight. our food started with the foie gras and bacon served as a sandwich and infused deviled egg trio. Mains included the Sea Bass with an amazingly tasty seasoned crust and the maple glazed Duck Breast and Leg confit. Cooking termperature was perfect on all dishes. Finish was chocolate covered strawberries and Vanilla Gelato with a short bread cookie - excellent. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Evanston, Illinois new favorite.

This is a beautiful room and an impressive menu. However, I was not happy with my choices .The Maple Duck Duo was a disappointment. The breast was not cooked to my requested temperature and the skin on the breast contained very unpleasant tasting fat. Deviled eggs were good, but spices were a little off. Donut duo for dessert was to die for--luckily ended on a high note.

This was a special restaurant week 4 course dinner. Usually, the portions are smaller with a special deal - but this was not the case here. There was a lot of food, everything tasted very good. I was full after soup and salad, before my main course had arrived. Everything was very flavorful. We ordered a flight of red wine, was a great complement to our dinner.

We have dined at The Stained Glass before and were again not disappointed. They offered a prix fixe menu that was very reasonable with exceptional choices for each of the four courses. It was so good that I was almost full after my soup and appetizer. I managed some of my entree and devoured dessert. The wait staff was attentive, but not bothersome. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Dinner was very good - first time there and had the Restaurants weeks menu - Lobster bisque was great - and the burrata stuffed ravioli - flight of creme brulee for dessert were awesome. Expected to see stained glass in the place but there was none - reference to the wine glass circle stain it often leaves behind...oh well! Really nice people and service.

Great location to meet friends in Evanston/Northwestern. The food was quite good indeed, but just shy of stellar. Of course, you're going to pay substantially more for stellar, so very good value for money. The service was very attentive but not intrusive, a welcome and difficult combination. I recommend this strongly.

Excellent food! We went on a Saturday night during Restaurant Week, and I think they may have been a little overwhelmed in the kitchen. While the food did some out correct, warm, and well made, the timing was a bit off. (Our first and second courses came out almost simultaneously, then we had a very long wait for the third course and a very long wait for the fourth course.) I would definitely come back, but perhaps not on such a busy night!
