Restaurant closes at 1am,-when making a booking please allow yourself as much time as possible to relax and enjoy your visit.
Outside area-closed at 12am ,which we recommend booking in advance.
Situated in the coastal village of Muchalls, just off the A90, and 10 minutes from Aberdeen and Stonehaven,The restaurant derives its name from the sea stacks located on the beautiful surrounding coastline.

It is brought to you and led by head chef and owner Andy Smart, who’s aim is to offer a flexible and relaxed environment where everybody is welcome.
Dogs are also welcomed too.(we have treats and water bowls for them!)
Award winning dining in a relaxed environment , the food style is seasonal and inventive and draws inspiration from international flavours, whilst using local suppliers, with an emphasis on simplicity, and where the staff are both friendly and professional.

First impressions were at how friendly and helpful the staff were. The selection on menus was very broad and would suit everyone. The food was excellent and very good value. Really enjoyed all aspects of our time at The Stack Restaurant.

We enjoyed a fantastic meal to celebrate my Dad’s 80th Birthday here. Great food, service and lovely atmosphere. I highly recommend The Stack.

This is a very good restaurant with great food however we think they may have overstretched themselves with booking that night. The waiters in there are very competent but there was just too much for them to do - esp as all the food is freshly prepared. We had to wait 15 mins to order and then another 20 for our starters. The mains arrived quickly afterwards which was good. My son's starter was prawns and there was only a few very small ones. My cullen skink was amazing for starters but my pumpkin pasta was a little dry and the sauce was over salted. Wine was lovely and there is a good selection of local beers. All in all this is a great little place run with passion and what I say here is for improvement rather than criticism. I think the decor could also do with an update - mismatching pictures and woodchip. It could truly be an amazing dining room. We will probably return in the future. It's busyness is testament to it's quality as a restaurant. It also has lots of veggie options.

My wife had the gluten free fish and chips. The batter was nice but there was no taste to either the fish or batter. We asked for sauce but the waiter never came back with any. We also waited at the bar to pay the bill for a good 10mins before anyone turned up. The Sunday Roast was lovely.
