Chef Evan Campbell has created a seasonal menu with small and large plates featuring seafood, meats and duck, as well as vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. Menu changes seasonally, taking advantage of the freshest foods choices.
Please note: as we are often fully seated, we can only hold a reservation for 15 minutes should you run late. Parties of 6 or more will require a credit card to hold the reservation on Friday and Saturday nights. We allocate 90 minutes for parties of 2 and 2 hours for parties of 4.

We had an AWESOME experience. Got there early so we could sit at bar for drinks. Since it is an open kitchen plan we were entertained by the chefs so much that we gave up our table to eat at the bar. We will make this a regular dinner place!!!

The Stables is turning to be one of my favorite places!! The food are delicious-my friends and I love to share from the Small Plates menu. The drinks are delish...you can choose from the menu or have is custom made. The servers are really nice and attentive - they don’t cram around you, but if you have any questions or need something, they are there!!

I like the Stables but the ambiance in the dining room is lacking. All generic tables and chairs. Art isn’t great. Just a little boring.

The food and service were as always outstanding. The noise level was a bit much, but it was a Friday night.
The tables in the second room are WAY too close together as in you can't get in or out of your coat without swishing the ones next to you.

Kudos to Chef Evan for a delicious dinner served to my foodie friends from Maryland by the capable, and lovely L. A. The Stables is a neighborhood gem; if you don't live in the neighborhood, Uber or Lyft or drive ... do what you have to do to get there!
Yet another fine meal at The Stables! Chef Evan continues to impress with his artful and delicious New American cuisine. The staff is so welcoming and the entire experience is a joy. This is truly a neighborhood gem!
We had an excellent meal consisting of small plates. We had spinach, pear, cashew, and goat cheese salad; seared scallops with polenta and braised greens; and gumbo shrimp with cheesy grits. The layers of flavors hit the palate one by one, just as they should. It was delicious and just the right amount. We’ll definitely go back.

Have had dinner at The Stables at least 20 or 25 times and have brought several friends to introduce them to your delightful and very tasty restaurant.
My friend and I were very disappointed with our entrées. For some reason the Cornish hen that he ordered was undercooked and cold. My entrée, which was the grilled vegetarian mushroom, was also cold. My friend, who is visiting from Ireland, spent over 20 years working in the hospitality industry in Ireland. When he mentioned to our server that he had had better chicken at Kentucky Fried Chicken our server just stated she was sorry and didn’t follow up at all. Also, from that point on our server’s demeanor changed and when she handed us our check she actually had her back to us.
One of the reasons why I took my visiting friend to Stables was that I had read consistently good reviews about the food and atmosphere. I’m personally willing to try Stables again.
Service and food were top notch. They also have an impressive whiskey and wine list. If you are starving, try the 16 oz boneless ribeye steak (keto friendly over pureed cauliflower) or the halibut. Both were outstanding. Our server was very attentive and drinks came out timely from the bar. The buffalo cauliflower was a delicious appetizer.
Best restaurant in Richmond. Chef came out and introduced himself and asked how we liked the meal. Perfect service.

Fabulous evening. Every dish had a wonderful presentation and a delicious infusion of flavors. The wine list had a good variety of interesting Old and New world choices that paired nicely with the entrees. Our server, LA, was attentive, knowledgeable and engaging which lended even more to our evening. Return, absolutely!

I had two small plates, a tuna tartare and mussels. The tuna needed a bit more of a kick in my opinion. The mussels and my friend’s Cornish hen were great, although fresh mushrooms would have been better in the Cornish hen sauce.

Impossible not to love The Stables
This is our new favorite place to dine in Richmond! We eat gluten free, paleo and can’t eat onions, and this creative chef can feed everyone a fabulous meal straight off the menu without us having to custom order to leave off this or that ingredient. We remarked that it takes a great chef to make flavorful dishes without onions! The bartender is also fabulous, very creative and delicious cocktails. Service is attentive, and usually the food comes quickly after ordering, which we actually like. Chef even called to warn us about parking due to Oktoberfest on the street. Another example of attention to details that makes The Stables so special!

Took the wife for our 5th anniversary. Chef Evan was amazing all the way around from contacting me early about special request with roses for the table and arranged them beautifully, to the food that was incredible! The waitress and staff all around were amazing as well. Very friendly and made you feel at home. Thank you guys for an incredible evening and making our day very special. Will recommend to everyone and will come back frequently!!! Perfection!
Per usual our experience at The Stables was outstanding. The happy hour drinks and small plates provided a delicious and filling dinner. We also received superior service from our server, L.A. She was knowledgeable and responsive. Going to The Stables is always a positive experience.
