Chef Evan Campbell has created a seasonal menu with small and large plates featuring seafood, meats and duck, as well as vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. Menu changes seasonally, taking advantage of the freshest foods choices.
Please note: as we are often fully seated, we can only hold a reservation for 15 minutes should you run late. Parties of 6 or more will require a credit card to hold the reservation on Friday and Saturday nights. We allocate 90 minutes for parties of 2 and 2 hours for parties of 4.

Such a great night out with my husband, a first-time visit to The Stables for us and a definite repeat!
WOW! It's been a couple of years since we visited, and decided to come back this past weekend, and again, we were NOT disappointed. Service was amazing, food was very delicious, drinks were fun, and overall great experience.

Our server was very attentive but not over bearing. The cioppino (seafood stew) was amazing. The halibut was flavorful but a bit dry. I added a few spoonfuls of the soup broth and it moistened the fish perfectly. The vanilla cake with lime curd and berry buttercream was delish. Overall very good.

Good drinks, great food and some tempting specials . On my first visit someone told me their lamb lollipops were the best they’d ever had, so I had to try them. I’ve ordered the main dish or small plate on every visit since, so delicious! Highly recommend this place.
This is the first time I've been to this restaurant and, overall, it was very good. We were welcomed enthusiastically and I was thoroughly impressed with our waiter who went out of his way to cater our needs throughout the night. I had Shishito (Korean peppers) for the first time and, to my mind, was the stand-out dish - not only for the novelty but the flare shown in the finish. I also enjoyed the cocktails which eschewed the standard 'sweet' and provided something which not only had flavour but also depth. Recommended.
The Stables is one of our favorite places to dine in Richmond! The food is outstanding, the service is always great, and it is truly a wonderful hidden neighbor gem. The restaurant is also doing a great job keeping patrons socially distanced, cleaning between tables, etc.
Highly recommend the small plates, they were great. I also had the salmon which was good but didn’t love the risotto, I don’t like onions and sone other spice or herb in it so other people may love it.
The food, service, and atmosphere were wonderful. I highly recommend the lamb lollipops and the cioppino. They also had ommegang Rosetta on tap, which is one of my favorite beers. We will be returning.
Richmond’s Museum District is rich in culinary options for epicureans. The Stables sit amongst the top of these restaurants. The lamb lollipops were extraordinary, as was the Salmon, scallops and massive pork chop. The service was perfect as was the ambience. 5 stars all the way.
Anniversary dinner on a rainy evening. I loved the Black Beauty cocktail prior to dinner. The lamb lollipops entree and cioppino entree were very tasty and great selections. Our wine selections were good matches, and thanks for the sparkly glass to celebrate! We will come back to try other entrees. I can see that people nearby would enjoy having this as their “go-to”. We enjoyed the chef stopping by to greet us also. The personal touches were spot on!
Very nice service, interesting sounding menu. The starters were very good (shrimp and grits; tomato; scallops). The main courses tended to be a bit tasteless. The fish in the cioppino were a bit overcooked and the base was rather plain; the duck was also so so. I would give it another chance for sure.
We enjoyed an amazing dinner. We felt very comfortable with all the precautions the staff took, and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the drink and food menu. We also have food allergies and felt very comfortable that our allergy concerns were addressed appropriately. Can't wait to dine here again.
Such a quaint and perfect place for a date night with my husband! I enjoyed the energy of the server. I wish I remembered his name. It was Saturday August 15th we were there around 8pm. We sat at the very front table by the window! The food was fantastic! We had drinks and shared dessert as well. It was a great experience and we will be returning
Such a fabulous find! Our server was terrific, right on target. And the beverages and cuisine were just divine, from beginning to end. Highly recommend. We will return when next in Richmond.
Our party of 7 had a lovely time together in a separate room, enjoying creatively crafted cocktails and fresh, flavorful food. The service was impeccable and our waiter was personable and knowledgeable. The temperature in the room was a tad warm, but the staff provided a huge Japanese fan for our comfort. The prices are extremely reasonable: for just over $500, we had 3 wines-by-the-glass, 5 cocktails, 2appetizers, 7 entrées, 2 bottles of wine, and 2 desserts! And maybe a coupla coffees. The Stables is definitely at the top of our list when we want a special meal out.

So happy to be able to “dine-in” again at my favorite restaurant establishment in Richmond. Evan and his staff never disappoint!
Was happy to see that all COVID protocols for masks, distancing, etc. were being followed. Felt like we were well positioned to be able to enjoy the evening. However, it was very warm in the restaurant and when we mentioned it, the waiter just said "yes, it really is." They offered for us to switch tables, which we did, but it was still very warm. The scallop and collards small plate was delicious - well-seasoned and the scallops were perfectly seared. My Cioppino was good, but I wouldn't order it again. The broth was a bit different than standard cioppino. No tomato and it needed an acid to finish. I personally was not a fan of salmon as the fish component; I prefer a white fish such as halibut. The stronger flavor of salmon was a little overwhelming to the scallops and shrimp. My husband got a pasta special which didn't include very much pasta, but was tasty. The service was very good. I would recommend The Stables as a local neighborhood restaurant.
It has been strange to visit some of my fav restaurants now that Richmond is in Phase whatever we are. There have been a few experiences in the past few weeks where the morale of the staff and the food were a bit depressing BUT not at The Stables. The cocktails were fun and well balanced and the food was delicious. We had the appetizer special - watermelon and tomato salad - and the lamp chops. The staff was friendly and comfortable but they took all the appropriate precautions. I look forward to returning soon for another 'normal' night out!
Third meal I've had here-never disappoints! My daughter and I shared 3 small plates, all delicious. The bespoke cocktail made with their own crushed cherry juice was sooo good and refreshing on a summer evening. Usually the bar scene is fun and lively but due to covid, the place was fairly quiet because of half capacity. Staff are very attentive and friendly. A great little place to eat, especially if touring the nearby Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

Loved chatting with our server about the fact that there are not one but TWO wines from Italy's Marche region on their menu! So obscure and wonderful. Enjoyed the scallops with collards appetizer, burrata caprese salad, and cioppino. Felt very comfortable chatting and lingering as long as we wished. Great vibes here!

It was wonderful to be back at The Stables for another fine dinner since they have re-opened. Great care was given to social distancing and other current health protocols. We felt very comfortable and safe eating indoors. Chef Evan and his team prepared another fine meal for us. Our waiter was most welcoming and cordial. Could not have asked for a finer dining experience in these new days! Heartfelt thanks to all at The Stables!!
This was our first time here and it was excellent. The grilled baguette, beet and burrata salad, and the duck breast were all amazing. The cocktails were perfectly made and the service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!
