Had a wonderful evening....had a fabulous server (Winston) and the food was delicious!! Will continue to visit and tell people about this gem!!
We used OpenTable to reserve our table. We opted for indoor, not high top nor outdoor using the selections available. When we arrived, we were told the indoor tables were overbooked and were offered outdoor or high top. The young lady at the greeting kiosk did her best and was able to squeeze us in to an indoor table. For that we are grateful and it made our visit pleasant. I am dubious of OpenTable, however. We will not be using OpenTable again without also verifying all the details of our planned visit by phone afterward, which defeats the point of OpenTable's supposed convenience. Thank you for having staff willing to go out of their way to accommodate us.
Great setting and the waitstaff is very friendly. Excellent time .
Real nice young man as our server. He lacked proper training. Food was as great as ever, music fantastic, atmosphere beautiful.
On another note. No lights n parking lot which was an issue. I left the ladies at steps while I went to get the car. A vagrant hit them up for some cash but luckily didn’t press the issue.
I’ll be sure to ask if parking lot lights are properly functioning before we book again. Thx for asking!
It was great food. Highly recommend getting a table inside if there is a live band if you want to have a conversation. Outside is for those wanting to listen to music.
The food was delicious and Rowen gave us service. The cioppino was outstanding.
Great place for our birthday lunch! Will definitely go again. Sadie was our server and she was awesome!
Service was slow but food was delicious. We are on the porch and my main complaint was sooo many flies!
The waitstaff was attentive and also a good sales person. (He talked my wife into an additional drink). The food choices were good. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food. (the only complaint about the food per-se was that the bourbon gravy on the wonderful biscuits was a bit salty). The wife loved the smoked salmon so much she is hoping she can order it again and again... even as a take-out item to enjoy with a little capers and crackers at home. The Bloody Mary wasn't very potent, but the in-house made mix was very good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We would recommend The Stables for other events based on our experience with Father's Day 2021.
Food was excellent
Cute bar and nice staff
Love the atmosphere and very good food. Would definitely recommend.
This was our return visit to The Stables. Last visit we were given a discount coupon to return and give the restaurant another chance....well, we love the property but the food and service is slow and we didn't even get what we ordered...the food was average at best...we won't be back....
Food was great and very relaxing atmosphere!
Great food and music. Outstanding Service from Ryan or Timmy as his friend call him. We will be trying to make this a regular stop on a Friday evening.
My steak salad was not good. Steak was in large chunks, tasted greasy. Fried green tomatoes were good. My lavender lemonade drink did not have any lemonade...tasted like soda water and vodka -- yuk. Too many flies outside and the service was super slow. Understand that you can't get staff... then maybe take fewer reservations. Generally speaking...it did not seem clean either. Too bad, we use to love this restaurant when you could eat inside the stable.
This was our first time at The Stables Restaurant. We loved the informal atmosphere of the place, in the midst of the beautiful grounds of Rose Hill. The food was outstanding, as was the service. One of our servers was Ryan, whose first day was yesterday, and he was really focused on doing a great job. We need to put in a special word about the pot roast which my wife had for dinner, since pot roast can be fatty if it's not cooked properly. This meat was obviously done right, was not at all fatty, and was the tastiest we've had in a long time, while being extremely tender. All in all a great experience, and a place to which we'll return many times.
We had a delightful evening at the Stables; our waitress was very attentive, our dinner delicious and Preston and Weston an added bonus. We look forward to returning!
There were dirty plates left on other tables for a long time. Also, flies kept bothering us at our table. Otherwise the food was good.
The Stables provides very good food at reasonable prices in a great setting. Their service staff was very shorthanded on this night so there were delays in getting seated and placing orders, but beyond that point those who were working were very accommodating, efficient, friendly and much overworked.
We had a reservation for 5 at 6:45 pm. When we arrived there was no receptionist at the entrance so we waited about 8 minutes and the I went looking for someone. That someone was the bartender. She checked the computer and had our reservation which requested indoor dining. There were no tables available for our party. This was a special night. My 3 daughters from New York drove down to see me since I have cancer and we don't know the outcome. I wanted this to be a night to remember. Instead we were faced with sitting outdoors or at a small table for 4 which would have been fine for drinks. We ended up at a high table for 4 in the bar area and I ended up sitting on a hard metal stool with no back - very uncomfortable! The night was a disaster! The food was good as was our server but it was not the night I anticipated The receptionist was uptight and not helpful. Will not return to this place!!!
When we first arrived at our reservation time we had about a 10 minute wait before a hostess came out. Then we were told that a standard table would be outside seating which is not what standard usually means. In fact, on their page at Open Table there is specifically outdoor seating and standard indoor seating. After explaining this to the hostess and that we made a reservation through Open Table and are Open Table VIP's we were reluctantly given an indoor table. It is obvious that this restaurant is under staffed. It took quite a while to get a drink or food. We found out that the wait was due to our waitress taking ill with heat stroke and she had to take a break. When they did finally bring my glass of wine they brought a chardonnay and not the Rose we asked for. Once we got our food order the food was actually quite tasty and good. This was our first visit there and we are not certain that we will be back except for the food. Also, the band was quite good but we noticed a lot of people complaining that it was too loud for the inside venue.
They were understaffed that day and it showed. But there was more the management could have done to help out our server. Other than that the food was impeccable.
We had a party of 8 and everything was perfect. Service was timely, staff friendly and the food was delicious. We really enjoyed listening to the Barry David Project.
Lovely. Good food and friendly service. I wish it had AC. The flies were a problem eating indoors.
The ambiance, for us, was great. Equally satisfactory was the service. The appetizers, drinks and entrees were superb! Needless to say it was one of the best dining experience we've had in a long time.
Great food and a beautiful setting, very lovely landscaping at this century old winter home of some wealthy horse people from up north. .I sat outside where a 2-man folk band was playing. The BLT was delicious! I will be back
The Stables is one of the best dining venues in Aiken, especially for a beautiful outdoor experience. The staff is great and the food and libations, delicious! Never hurts to have Brooke Lundy playing music while you dine, either!
The service was very good. The food was wonderful and the outside dining was very nice. The live music proved great atmosphere. Overall it was a great night out in Aiken
Service was slow. We received food over an hour after ordering.
The atmosphere was great but when we started to order, the waiter told us there was NO
Blue Moon and then returned to tell us the entre my husband wanted was no longer available. He chose another entree' and it was overed cooked. We were dining on a Saturday night at 6 pm so one would think that the chef would have adequately purchased the ingredients he would need to supply the menu demand.
Best place in town for a great meal, ambiance and music. We would recommend it to all.
Will return for another meal. Enjoyed music and casual atmosphere.
Service was wonderful (Timmy) did a fabulous job being his third day on the job. Food did not disappoint.
One of our go to places, never disappoints.
Maddie was a great server, food was over the top delicious, perfect brunch day, wonderful drinks, quiet live music, just perfect ! GO
We had the charcuterie and cheese plate. It was really good, but could use some sweet stuff as well. Fig jam, fruit, candied pecans and a hard cheese. Overall interesting items, just too many pickled options. We also had the potato wedges with Thai chili drizzle and sour cream. DELICIOUS! The atmosphere is casual and welcoming. The live music was fun and not too loud. A great way to spend a beautiful breezy evening!! It's going to be our new Friday evening go to.
I've been to The Stables several times before and recently have noticed that the service is slipping downhill at an ever-increasing rate of speed. Friday night the service was incredibly slow and our waitress was slovenly and disheveled. By the time she finally brought our drinks more than 30 minutes after ordering them, the ice had completely melted. She forgot to order our appetizers and when she brought our food more than an hour later, it was stone cold.
I didn't have a fork, and our waitress, nor any other staff, was nowhere in sight so I went to the bar to ask for one. The bar was COVERED in dirty dishes and glassware. The entire restaurant was a mess!!
Further, one of the reasons I love going to the Stables is for the live music outdoors. It's usually fabulous without being over bearing. On Friday the music was way too loud and the speakers were constantly squawking loud feedback. I was bewildered as to why no one was trying to fix it...every guest was cringing every time it happened, but no adjustments were ever made.
In summary, I hope this experience isn't a sign of what The Stables is becoming. Hopefully they have plans to right the ship, otherwise Aiken will have lost a gem of a venue because no one will want to tolerate the horrible service and overall terrible situation they delivered on Friday.
Thank you for your feedback. We apologize the level of music and will ensure to work with musicians to adjust. In regard to staff, we are actively hiring (which is somewhat impossible right now as few people wanting to work, as the news is sharing) and hope we can add team members to ensure a better dining experience. Thank you and please return as we are working diligently.
We arrived and were seated outside as requested as we had a dog with us.. live music was on the patio and was quite nice however way too loud. We were unable to talk to each other for the two hours we were dining. Service was extremely slow 1/2 hr to get a drink 1/2 hour to get a appetizer.. not blaming the waitress.. she explained the kitchen was backed up. I’m in the service industry and if this was busy for you your doing something wrong. Food was tasty and overall good. Just thought I’d let u know you need more hands on deck.
Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for sitting you that close to the music, as always happy to sit you where you are most comfortable to enjoy your evening. In regard to staff, we are actively hiring (which is somewhat impossible right now as few people wanting to work, as the news is sharing) and hope we can add team members to ensure a better dining experience. Thank you and please return as we are working diligently.
We will not be returning. The restaurant needs to focus on quality FOOD to get folks in the door and not base how busy they are on pretty scenery. I would have rather roasted S'mores in my backyard and burned $80 over my own flames than to waste it again at The Stables. S'mores would also be more homemade and handcrafted than anything we ate at The Stables. What an embarrassment. They should be ashamed of the food they served. The charcuterie board had unidentifiable objects on it. Their "frites" were frozen, as was the burger. The smoked chicken that accompanied the salad had to be sent back because I honestly wasn't sure if it was chicken or not. Come to find out, the chef allegedly smokes the chicken and then batters and fries it before serving it. False advertisement for those who are wanting smoked chicken. The strawberry pie wasn't fresh either. The strawberries were a dull purple color. How off-putting! Fresh strawberries are RED. What a sorry excuse for a seasonal dessert. Strawberry pie is one of the simplest desserts there is to make. It was all one big joke, and I pity the first-timers who eat there. No amount of live music can save this place.
