I am a DC resident and went to holiday tea for my birthday celebration, and was a bit disappointed. When we first got there, no one was there to greet us so we were having to chase people down to get our table. The food was good and the tea was good, however, I was surprised by the lack of recognition for my birthday. Not saying that there has to be a big fuss about it but most restaurants at least recognized beyond just a simple happy birthday. For $250 save your money and go somewhere else!!

Lovely but overpriced - spent the same without champagne as an upscale sushi dinner the night before with drinks - wish sandwiches were more plentiful and one champagne toast included if desired. Also small selection of teas.

Great experience, good food, a little bit expensive for what is offered compared to upscale high tea in Europe.

Lovely, relaxing way to take an afternoon break. The tea was flavorful, and the nibbles were very good. (I probably preferred the savories to the sweets. The salmon with a bit of caviar was excellent as was the chicken salad and, strange for a savory, the strawberry rhubarb treat. The roast beef was a little dry and not very tasty). Of the sweets, the scone with clotted cream was outstanding. Sitting in the elegant lobby was lovely, although it got a little noisy when a large group entered and lingered in the lobby. We also were seated right next to the musician (who played piano and guitar). A nice addition but it also made things a bit noisier than I would have preferred for carrying on a conversation. At almost $100/per person, this was not something I'd do every day but it was a fun treat. Also, fyi, they validate parking!

The hotel is beautiful. We had the hotel blend tea and loved the flavor, but tea was lukewarm. Even after asking for hot tea we still got tepid tea. Service was not the best, but I think it was because there was only one server. The food was very nice to look at, but did not seem fresh. The cookie base was soggy and not crisp.

I have been at St. Regis for afternoon tea many times, but this time, there was not a great desert choices and not much deserts. I did not feel like I got the value for what I paid for:/ next time I will pick a different tea venue. Disappointed:(

Afternoon tea is over priced for the experience we had. Even though a wide selection of teas are listed on the menu, you're told you can only pick one. The lobby was extremely noisy, which is where the tea is held. There are various large packages being delivered while children run rampant and people checking out of the hotel. For the price of the experience, a glass of champagne should be included rather than for an extra $25 per glass.

Overall, this experience was enjoyable and absolutely worth the visit. The ambiance and location of this hotel are unmatched and the tea was decadent. I was however a bit disappointed in the service during our tea. The server was fine but nothing special and she did not do one thing to exceed our expectations. We mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and she did nothing while the table across from us received a dessert and candle specially for a birthday. We often had to ask for more hot water, etc and didn’t even receive a glass of drinking water during our tea. Was also disappointed with the lack of music during the tea. The lobby area where the tea was hosted was quiet and we could hear overhead music from the bar across the entryway, but the lack of background music in this area made it a bit awkward and kind of boring. Would have been nice to have a musician playing the piano there in the lobby for tea service as is tradition at many other upscale tea services.

It's a decent experience. Very cool for a Date Day as we used it. But it's not something worth going to beyond the first time. Severely overpriced but hey, it is the St. Regis and it's a pretty unique thing to do so I'd say try it once at least.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! My friend and I were lucky enough to find this gem. It was our first time to afternoon tea and it was fantastic! They did an excellent job from start to finish, my friend who has several food allergies gives them a 10/10 for working around the allergies and providing her with delicious options! It was peaceful to sit by a window with my friend and have a conversation, way better than texting, it was a no stress way to spend an afternoon, without any screen time. We did take some photos. We were celebrating her upcoming nuptials. We definitely intend to go back. It was very elegant. The service from start to finish was perfect. We did not feel rushed at all, and there was the right amount of interaction with our wonderful server, Nicolae.

When we arrived we had to search for a staff member to seat us. They also need you to call them the day before your reservation and tell them over the phone if you have a food allergy or a dietary restriction. If you don’t call them and tell them, they won’t accommodate. I’m a vegetarian and was told upon being seated that they couldn’t accommodate me. My sister has a shellfish allergy and they couldn’t accommodate her either. Also after telling them I was a vegetarian - I asked them to just leave the meat out and not worry about substituting. They served my plate with the meat on it anyway and I had to send the food back. We were there for the First Ladies afternoon tea but the server doesn’t explain the pastries to you or anything so if you want to know how anything relates to the First Ladies you have to look it up online. It was a bit disappointing considering we paid $100 per person.

Regarding flavor, this afternoon tea indeed offered some of the best tasting items I have ever tried in afternoon tea experiences in the United States. I enjoyed the vegetarian tea service and was impressed with the asparagus flavors on one of the tea sandwiches options, which had edible flowers that indeed added extra sophistication to both, the palate and the eye. The sweetness of the other items was perfectly balanced and not at all overpowering. The St. Regis tea blend was indeed perfect with and without added creamer or sweeteners. The attention to detail as well during the service itself allowed for an extra elevated experience, this was exceptionally provided by the attendant, the Director of Food and Beverages, and every staff around. The table setting was mostly traditional, which was balanced by a modern serving of tea that was not loose leaf served, beautiful china, a golden sweets tower, all under a gilded age embellished roof, original to the time in which the St. Regis opened. The serving itself had a modern take, since the savory tea sandwiches were served in a separate plate, and not as part of the traditional 3 tier tower. This gave the experience a contemporary look, charming indeed. This afternoon tea service is very much in demand and reservations should be made. It’s definitely a must in the DC area.

Hello. The idea is intriguing but there is very little food provided and one small pot of tea. The value does not add up to more than 20 dollars and it costs more than four times that amount.

Loved the high tea experience here. We were celebrating a friends birthday and she had the best time and so did we. There were few vegetarians in the group and my friends don’t eat beef. So we were able to customize our food (I added the details during my reservation which really helped and they took care of our needs). The vegetarian options were amazing, and the scones were just out of this world! They were buttery, soft and really really delicious. The tea options are limited but sometimes it’s good to have a smaller menu to choose from. Service was great too. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for high tea. The decor is exceptional and makes you feel like Royal. Must try overall!

Unfortunately, afternoon tea at The St Regis left much to be desired. The wait staff was discourteous. First, they tried to seat us in the worst seats -- right next to the entry, where people were filing in and out -- even though we had prior reservations! We pointed to preferable reserved seating, and they reluctantly obliged. Next, the wait staff seemed to ignore us, as they waited on other tables, seated after us, and just left us waiting. We had to get their attention. It was so discourteous that I had to point out to the wait staff their unpleasant demeanor and enquire whether something was going on in their life, whether they were having a bad day, etc. The behavior truly was inexcusable. Then, one member of my party is allergic to shellfish -- which they were informed of ahead of time; indeed, they called the day before to confirm it -- and still, they served my friend crabmeat. Unbelievable! Moreover, when we asked for additional tea, the wait staff kept warning us how much more it would cost -- another $12. It was the strangest thing and put an unfortunate damper on what should have been a pleasant and memorable experience. I have so many wonderful memories of the Sheraton-Carlton, but since it has changed hands and is now The St Regis, the quality of the customer service has severely diminished. What a disappointment. In the future, I will return to the Salamander for afternoon tea.

The food offered during afternoon tea was nothing spectacular, definitely not worth ~$100/person. Their signature tea is pretty good, but the small sandwiches and desserts that came with it are things you can get at nearby bakeries or specialty stores. Service was great, they were very attentive. Valet parking is available, will run you $22 plus tax and tip (parking is more expensive if you're not dining at their restaurant). Restrooms are located downstairs. Bottom Line: If you're having tea here, you're basically just paying for the name "St. Regis", not the food. Very "old money" feel here.

Took my daughter and grand daughter for high tea . Asked for water twice While drinking tea and eating sandwiches was served the pastries in middle and no plates for them. Expected to put them on top of leftovers n crusts. No offer for reheating tea which was tepid When my GD took a break.. she’s 22..the server immediately grabbed her half eaten plate and walked away. For that price I expected quality service. Did not it. Left large tip and felt like I shouldn’t have. I am very familiar with great teas .. this did not live up to the hype .

The afternoon tea is held in the front lobby, the chairs that you are seated at are very stiff and uncomfortable and the tables a little low even for a coffee table setting, you basically dined in your lap. So overall okay.

Outstanding service. Great food. They accommodated food allergies and were prepared in advance. Tea selections were very limited. I had the St Regis which was nothing to brag about. We were seated in the lobby with a view of their drive thru entrance. Not the best. Just valets and cars coming and going. At this price point, parking should not be an additional cost.
