The Southern Pacific Depot
Usually come here or Jack and Charlie’s for dinner. Never disappointed by the service or the food. 10/10 love it.
Making the reservation online was very easy. They asked for dietary concerns, which I greatly appreciated. The staff were knowledgeable and gracious, and offered suggestions for working around the special diet. Serving portions were satisfying for the cost. This is an upscale restaurant, so we were expecting to pay $$$, but it was definitely reasonable. Our server was very helpful and considerate. It was overall a very enjoyable experience, which I hope to repeat for special occasions.
Beautiful place. Quiet. Every bite was scrumptious.
My sister was visiting from the Midwest so I took her to the depot for a really amazing dinner. You
did not disappoint!! Service was perfect, food was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly and the
restaurant was beautiful and quiet and very relaxing. A++ experience as it is every time I come here.
Great food; nice ambiance. Service was very good. Price is on the high end, but can enjoy it occasionally. Special event restaurant.
Try the summer dinners. Monday night is fried chicken, Tuesday night is pork chop, Wednesday is lamb chops, Friday night is seafood pallella, and Friday is steak for two. Each meal comes with wine or champagne for a special price. I have had the fried chicken, pork chop and steak. I highly recommend these delicious summer specials. The service is great and they continuously fill my ice tea.
Even though the food was okay, it took a lot of time to be serve!
Looking for a great date night value? Look no further—The Depot’s Chicken and Champagne Monday Night Special is exceptional!
My boyfriend and I were blown away by how moist the chicken was (3 pieces), the 2 sides were more than enough, and the single glass of champagne was perfect... Plus, the service and ambiance there is unbeatable. We got out the door for just under $60—and that’s including tax and tip, and adding a shared dessert.
Pretty rooms in a restored train depot. Pleasant, friendly staff. High-end environment and god menu choices (pork chop was the size of a small roast and delicious) Very expensive entrees 28.00 to 54.00
Dinner at the Depot was pretty nice. I started with a salad and then had one of the specials which was sea bass. The salad was a champagne vinaigrette over mixed greens it was nice nothing special. The sea bass was served over a corn and bean and tomato that was really nice but I felt the fish was overcooked. The first glass of wine they finished off one bottle and started a new bottle but it was obvious that the first bottle has started to turn so I had to return my wine which they had no problem replacing. It's a nice place it's worth the visit
Excellent food, served well, good service, pleasant environment. We will be back....
Great evening! Yummy food, service was good, looking forward to the next event.
I’m from out of state and when in Visalia, I try to host a dinner there. As in the past, everything was perfect.
Great food and good service. The Mother’s Day options for lunch all tasted great!
The building was a bit in need of repair.
The waitress was nice but we were served very fast courses. I’m positive that the mashed potatoes were instant. For 48 dollars a person I would prefer a real potato.
Nice birthday evening. Well taken care of and dinner with family. My wheelchair bound wife received excellent care and accessibility was good.
The restaurant certainly takes you back in time. It is rich in wood and stained glass windows. Just beautiful.
Our server was wonderful and the food was delicious. The pork meat fell off the bone. It was a great date night.
I took my family there for Easter brunch, I knew it would be pricey but didn't think the food lived up to the pricey menu, $4,50 for coffee is a little overpriced. the service was very good but none of us had rave reviews for the food and we all has something different.
Amazing food, it was a tiny bit salty for our tastes, but that well could of have just been us. Staff was awesome, as well as the environment.
The overall experience was great. We got the pre-selected 4 course meal with lobster and salmon as the main course. We usually do not order salmon but gave it a try and it was amazing. The only negative of the meal was the lobster because it was under cooked but we did not send it back. We tried escargot for the first time and it was not for us. The oysters were some of the best we have ever had, especially with the homemade cocktail sauce and a vinegar dressing pairing with it. The staff was great in giving us the history of the depot and the bartender went across the street to Jack and Charlie's to have them make a special drink for us. Great jobs guys. Thank you
Excellent service, not a great place for those under 18 due to limited selection.
The service was great. The food was ok. The price was high. The building is interesting and historic. I guess I like this place much better for lunch.
This is our once a year fancy
Had a reservation on New Years Eve and they were on time for our seating. Great meal and friendly, accommodating Staff...will definitely go back...
Food was terrific, presentation was beautiful. Great service
Christmas Eve
Reserved table near fire place three weeks prior with walk in appointment with Cory.
When we arrived a Book Club was at our table. We we taken to the general open room. No reason given for this mishap. Asked for Cory. She never came by to explain.
Food was good but would considered nor as good as Vintage Press. Food was also more expensive. Paid $ 550 last year with same 8 people. Your bill was $ 777. With tip was $ 900.00.
We will be returning to Vintage press for Special Occasions including next years Christmas Office Dinner. Just thought we would try the Depot.

A long time favorite in the Central Valley, I’ve been coming here since 1994. Food and service is always spot-on and the ambiance is old style. The wine list is thorough with a good selection. The shrimp and swordfish were excellent. It’s a restaurant that I look forward to every time my travels take me to the Hanford - Visalia area.
My girl friends and I had lunch here. I wasn’t sure what to expect, since I had not heard much about the Depot. My calamari was excellent. My escargot was excellent. I will definitely be back.
Good place for a special occasion or a more upscale night out.
Such beautiful service and very professional staff
The setting here is amazing. It takes you back to a time when buildings meant something, train stations were a work of American craftmanship.
The food was not as great this trip, I ordered the short ribs but received a full size beef back rib. The flavor was a bit off but we could not get the waitress back to our table. My drink ran dry and so did both our waters. We di not see the waitress until it was time to leave, I actually had to get up and walk around to find her.
We arrived rather late for dinner, so the restaurant was quiet —just a couple of other tables in the large historic room, and a table of twenty or so people in an adjoining room celebrating a special occasion. Food was excellent—we shared a generous grilled vegetable plate and a whole fish prepared with excellent seasoning. The building is a former train depot, with stained glass windows and beautiful woodwork. Will definitely go back the next time we are in the area.
