The Southern Ratings and Reviews
I love the energetic atmosphere of this restaurant! The interior design of the main area is beautiful. The ceiling shaped as a compass rose is gorgeous. Valerie our waitress was so friendly and attentive. Food was amazing! Can’t wait to get back to Nashville, especially to The Southern!
The tacos had 1 ounce of meat, ridiculous for what the price was for two and not have more than an ounce. Steak that was suppose to be med rare came out raw twice. It was a Thursday night, come on get your sh$t together. Had to wait for our table(made reservations) ok, but then 20 minutes go by and I asked front desk if we could order apps if it was going to be much longer, she said. We have been texting you , show her cell nada on it(we were standing in front of her the whole 20 minutes, had entered my cell wrong) it then it went down hill from there. Need more training
The atmosphere is really "Nashville" since we had live music. the down side of that is it was really loud and hard to have conversation at the table. The food was good, but it was pricey and a small portion. I had a bellini with brunch, and it was not good. This restaurant did not live up to the "hype" that preceded our dining experience.
Went for brunch- had the burger which was AMAZING and I'm not a big burger eater. I don't even really like bacon, but the jalapeño bacon was delicious paired with the pimento cheese- yum! And the sweet potato fries were delicious too. Steven was our waiter - he helped me choose the burger and it exceeded my expectations!
Excellent! We've dined here a few times (at different times of day/evening) and have always been pleased. The Belle' is my choice for a really good & tender beef filet. This is not a petit cut, so come hungry! It is served over a chive potato mash that is just perfect. The T-bones are HUGE and very flavorful. You just can't pick a wrong choice, it is all great. Husband is always very happy with the oyster selections. The horseradish is very good and very HOT, you have been warned! lol
We had a friend in town to go to Bridgestone for a concert. I got us a Table at the Southern and advised her that it was our favorite combination of food. location, service and general all-around-ness. We had a great time on a nice evening and her comment about the scallops that she ordered was "it was almost a religous experience". I had my usual fish and grits. Not QUITE religious but very good. We shared oysters at our table and they were (as always) outstanding.
Our waitress was very kind. She let us take our time ordering. I was with relatives I hadn’t seen in a long time. We were there for lunch on a cloudy day. We ordered her recommendation of the Sweet Beef and Potato Soup. It was a perfect meal with a southern wedge salad. Great food and atmosphere! We will be back!
My boyfriend and I had breakfast here and loved every bit of it. The food was delicious, the service was personable and informative, and the atmosphere was inviting! What an incredible bar and vibe. Overall, great experience and will definitely return on another trip to Nashville!
Food was good. Service was good however, felt completely rushed. Main dishes came out within 2 minutes of our appetizer arriving therefore it was cold by the time we started eating. Wanted to enjoy a birthday brunch and just felt like our server was trying as fast as she could to turn the table. For a special occasion, and the price that goes along with that kind of restaurant you certainly don't want to feel rushed or have your food cold. Nice restaurant, beautiful décor, quite loud, extremely busy during peak times. Crab cakes and Shrimp and Grits were good.
First time in Nashville and the Southern was recommended as a must eat at by two different people. We were in town for a concert at Bridgestone arena and the restaurant was a very easy walking distance. Great food and very nice wine list. Did not get to try dessert because we were stuffed.
We brought friends from out of town for lunch at the Southern. It was 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. There was only a brunch menu with limited options. I was very underwhelmed with our food. The restaurant was very noisy and the service was just ok. I was embarassed that we brought guests there when there are so many amazing restaurants we could have gone to. This is the third time we have been to the Southern in several months, each time saying maybe it was just an off night for the kitchen or something. This will be our last visit. The food and service used to be so much better when we first moved here two years ago. The location is all that's going for it. Very disappointing.
