Unfortunately, everything we ordered was poor. I don’t know how much more simple a BLT with fries could be, but somehow the fries were soggy, the supposed avocado on the sandwich was actually premade, weird spicy guacamole that was store-bought. Salad dressing instead of real rmayo and barely-toasted stale white bread. The bacon seem to be microwaved. Our server was nice, but she was very slow as she was acting also as bartender, host, and busser. It was bad and we both left 95% of our food.

Went before a show on a Sunday afternoon. Started quiet but became busy closer to the dinner hour. Outstanding service, very quick and with a smile. Food was very good, loved the Brussels and bacon appetizer. The pork addition to the Mac and cheese is the way to go. Highly recommend for a spot slightly off water street and 3rd ward.

It was downtown dining this week, we decided to try a place neither of us tried. That was The Social American Tavern. Well imma say, overall I'd come back to give it a 2nd chance, The service and atmosphere was good. The food was "good" but was cold. Food ordered was Iceberg wedge with Balsamic and a beet salad, Bourbon Pork tenderloin & a Skirt steak, and carrot cakes. I'll try it again outside of downtown dining and hope it's better.

We were pleasantly surprised by this before-theatre dining experience. The Social American Tavern is a casually elegant venue in an historic building. The high ceilings, art deco furnishings, and open concept were very refreshing. The bar area had only one video screen (thank goodness!) and it was kept at a reasonable volume. On this Sunday evening, there was not much of a crowd, which we appreciated as we had a date with the Robert Cray Band after our meal. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive enough for our needs. We ordered from the Shareables menu: bacon roasted Brussels sprouts, BBQ pork sliders, and Buffalo honey mustard wings, along with two glasses of wine. The prices were reasonable for the location (although a bit high for Joel Gott cab), and everything was delicious. It was also fun to wander around the lobby of this beautiful old building (marble grand staircase, gorgeous copper lamps, and, again, the high ceilings!). Glad we tried something new [to us]!

Food was average. We got the burger and it was very burnt. We ordered the Caesar salad and it was just a chunk of Romain lettuce not chopped at all with a drizzle of Caesar dressing. Don’t recommend
