The highlight of our culinary week is undoubtedly our Sunday Carvery. Vegetarians are also well catered for, with many of our dishes available with a vegetarian option, including our carvery which comes with TWO homemade vegetarian choices – a delicious nut roast and a vegan lentil roast.

Ham, Cheese & Onion Panini
The staff were amazing considering how busy they were.
The food was great. I thought at first it was a small portion but I was so full.
I would recommend this venue
Nice location, good food choices. Friendly staff.
Great service lovely food
We went for lunch on Sunday 13th June, 5 adults and 1 toddler. Booking was easy, we were sat outside under cover. Staff were very welcoming and kept to Covid restrictions well. Special mention to our young Canadian waiter (sorry I have forgotten his name) who went the extra mile to help with food for our toddler. Felt relaxed, unrushed and happy with our visit.
Lovely food and service, ploughman’s had such a variety with ham, cheese etc, fish and chips - batter was crispy, fish was thick and cooked perfectly!
Lovely pub recently refurbished. Good choice of drinks. There were four of us all had different meals, great food reasonably priced. Pleasant welcoming staff. Booking advised.
We enjoyed our dinner here, good pub grub and attentive friendly service.
Food was pretty good, very tasty, well presented - very good for the value. Beer options were limited and could be improved. Service was fine and honest about serving times
We booked a table and it was obviously busy when we got there, there was a sign saying kitchen full, no walk ins. We were advised it was a 45min wait for “normal “ food so opted for the carvery, waitress said there’s a couple of tables in front of us then we’d be called.......50 minutes we waited to be called for our carvery! Ridiculous amount of time for food that’s already cooked!
Birthday meal service was awful our waitress was not very happy with having to find out about any menu changes as the chef was to busy and when the order came out it was wrong
Pre booked a table 2 weeks in advance when we decided to visit Seaton/Cornwall for my quiet 50 th birthday getaway .
I phoned on the day to see if we could change the time of our visit to a little later . Yes all ok ! So far so good !
Arrived and waited patiently to be shown to our table . We waited .... and waited ... Had to ask 3 different members of staff to seat us .
Eventually seated we were told there was a 45 minute wait for food . Not a problem for us at all . Happy to sit and have a birthday drink .
An hour and a half later one of our starters arrived . We asked for a knife and fork ( never came ) so very hungry by now started to pick at the salad and mushrooms thinking our other starter will arrive soon. It didn’t !! When we questioned the waitress she said “ Its ok I’ll bring it out with your mains they are on their way “ . When I said no thank you it was supposed to be a starter she offered to wrap it in foil for us to take home ♀️!!
After another 15 minute wait still no food ! We had now been sat there almost 2 hours !!!
After requesting our meal from various members of staff I decided enough was enough and went to the bar to tell them how disappointed we were and that we were leaving . The lady that seemed to be in charge was very apologetic but this didn’t make having your birthday meal ruined ! Especially being told I will let you have the mushrooms ( don’t bother by the way ! Frozen mush that oozes water when bitten !) but I’ll have to charge you for the two drinks !! Disgusting service .
The place wasn’t even that busy and while we were there witnessed two other groups complaining about food not arriving / missing !
Such a shame as with the right organisation this could be a lovely place
we were very excited to eat at this Pub because it is in a good location near the beach and seemed good for kids. We arrived on time and were sat down fairly quickly. However, it was 15 minutes before anyone came to take a drinks order and a further 15 minutes before the drinks came - so half an hour wait! The pub was busy, but there were many empty tables. At no point during the meet and greet or drinks order were we informed there was a delay on food. We had a 7 year old with us and we had deliberately chosen a 6:30pm table time to accommodate her age. We ordered out food at the same time as our drinks. An hour after ordering we asked where the food was. The waitress (who was lovely) came back and said that it would be another 20 mins. At that point we decided that we had had enough. We paid for our drinks and left. The kitchen was just starting to cook our meals. The food that was coming out looked nice, but we never got to try it!
The staff were attentive and welcoming the food excellent and it was great value too.
Wll definitely return again
Value for money The Sunday roast
The food was nicely prepared but menu was a little lacking somehow. Couldn’t see the specials board in dining area. You are paying a premium for the location but staff were friendly and helpful and genuinely love dogs. I have to wonder at the wisdom of putting carpet in the dining area in a dog friendly pub and with beach visitors traipsing sand in.
Thank you for your custom and feedback Suel! We try to keep our prices as competitive as we can, whilst still making sure that we supply our customers with quality ingredients and freshly prepared dishes. The carpet is essential, the room would feel cold and echo badly without it, especially in winter, it does gat vacuumed daily though, and yes, we hoover up a lot of sand in the summer, but it does help with the ambience.
Considering there wasn’t many people in there, the food wasn’t piping hot, but good portion sizes. The website mentioned it had been refurbished, but not sure where .
Hi there BazzaB, thank you for your custom and your review, sorry you found your food not to be piping hot, I will discuss with the chefs and service team to make sure food is being despatched as quickly as possible. I guess that this was your first visit to the pub, since our comprehensive refurbishment is very obvious to anyone who had visited it prior to the lock down, hopefully the all new furniture, carpets, decorating and artworks are all still in place, anyway!
Nice food in lovely location. Payment taken as order taken. Attentive staff and felt very safe with extra cleaning etc and guidance all adhered to.
Thank you for your custom and feedback! Our staff are working hard in these challenging times to comply with the many covid regulations, and we are glad that this is recognised. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
We were welcomed at the bar and shown to our table on arrival. The service was impeccable as was the food. Well done.
Thank you so much for your custom and your feedback. It has been passed on to both the kitchen and front of house teams, and is much appreciated! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Looks like a proper pub, Standard pub menu, well cooked with large portions. Very quiet but not busy although in a prime location. Have to say on the day weather was atrocious
We had the lasagne and 6oz burger and the chicken stack burger, except meal, can’t wait to try out the rest of the menu, thank you.
Great location and atmosphere. Easy to book and was seated immediately upon arrival. Prompt servive, good prices and excellent menu choices with vegan/vegetarian options.
Thank you for your custom and your review! We're so glad you enjoyed your visit, and hope to welcome you back sometime soon! The vegetarian chef on our kitchen team works hard to ensure we offer a balanced and inclusive menu and appreciated this feedback!
A very nice all round experience would definitely recommend it.
One of the best roasts I have ever had. They do it as a carvery so you get to choose exactly what you want and there are lots of vegetables/sides to choose from.
Thank you so much for your custom and feedback! Our chefs work really hard on our Sunday Carvery and take great pride in it, so your feedback is much appreciated by them, thank you! Hope to see you again :)
The smugglers Inn was very nice. Enjoyed the food and service was efficient. The service staff were very helpful.
Love this pub. Our 4th time staying in Seaton and this The Smugglers Inn never disappoints. Dog friendly, lovely food and a welcoming atmosphere, what more could you want.
The online booking process and reminders was very good. The venue was pleasant, clean and covid safe. Staff were efficient and friendly. Food Service was very slow - nearly an hour from order but the food was good and drinks were served promptly
Staff were polite and fantastic. The best was made for the situation of outside dining!! Food was lovely.
Really glad you enjoyed your visit. We open inside from tomorrow, so it should be warmer, drier, and hopefully even better!
Best shandy I’ve ever had, beautifully presented food, and super tasty
Thank you so much for your positive feedback, delighted you enjoyed your visit. Next time you should be able to sit inside and it will hopefully be even better!
Food choice was good, quality of food was excellent - and a good bit of banter with the staff. Covered outside seating was good considering the rain.
Thanks for your positive review! Next time you'll be able to come inside, and hopefully the experience will be even better!
Because of Covid we had to be outdoors - and it was absolutely pouring with rain, windy and cold. The Perspex roof kept most of the rain off but we were still cold. I stress, the folks at the Smugglers couldn’t have been nicer and the food was pretty good in the circumstances. I think they felt sorry for us and we certainly felt sorry for them. These places need our support and we intend to do that as soon as we can be inside!
