The food is outstanding. Had the most delicious chicken sandwich with kale/apple Cole slaw on a wonderful sesame seed baguette+ french fries cooked to perfection.
Iced tea excellent. And the peach dessert - light and sublime. Presentation of the food outstanding. Our waiter was excellent - responsive - intuitive. He truly enhanced our time at The Smith.
Could not have had a better meal and I will return the next time I am in Washington, DC. The metro was located across the street on a 93 degree summer day. Only two stops to Union Station. Could not have had a more perfect luncheon with a friend who traveled up from Richmond to join me.
The macaroni and cheese was really good; however, the rest of the pasta selections and pizza fell short of expectations.
The food was pretty good but pricey for the amount you get.
The waitstaff was not very attentive. When the place is crowded it can be difficult to hear. This is partially due to design. It is a good place to eat.
Ordered the special for Friday - scallops. Delicious, tender scallops, white chocolate polenta. Alas couldn't taste any chocolate. Shared the calamari appetizer: the tomato sauce had kick and the calamari was properly cooked; the portion size was definitely large. Great prosecco for a drink: definitely would order that again.
Excellent food, excellent service. Best fried green tomatoes and sticky toffee pudding I've ever had!!
It was very loud on a Thursday evening even though we were not seated near the bar.
Way too noisy even for twenty year olds. Your noise evaluation needs to change. Too much noise is not Energetic
Friendly and accommodating staff, very clean throughout the facility... AND the food was superb!!!
A little too loud in the restaurant for business meetings. Feel like you have to shout and lip read at the same time.
Delicious food, well prepared! Great presentation!
This has to be the best brunch in Washington! Amazing food! Vanilla bean banana french toast is to die for!
Goodness very good pleace
Great food and amazing service! It is definitely our go-to for special occasions celebrations!
Terrible service, beyond terrible. Pretty room. Boring food.
Great staff, great menu options for brunch. Must try the home fries and the Barnstormer!
Food is good and location also. Noise level is too loud due to huge open space. Service is not very fast but was due to 4th of July we believe. Overal good 4/5
Lunch is a busy time. This was our first visit to The Smith in DC; we'd eaten in NYC several times, usually for brunch. I was impressed by my dish--squid ink pasta with shrimp and calamari in a tomato sauce that dazzled (and wasn't runny). The on-tap Chard was good, too. My granddaughter loved the mac and cheese. I understand why so many--tourists and workers alike--frequent this spot.
Service was great. Food was good. Cocktails were fantastic. Very noisy.
Great restaurant. Will def come back again
For my party of 6, it was alright for more-than-alright prices. My group's steaks, chicken, and spaghetti and meatballs were all just okay. My seared tuna salad was all leaves and dressing and very little tuna.
The Smith was a great restaurant! Great service and delicious food. It is quite overpriced though. $17 for a avocado toast! But great experience!
I was dismayed by the noise level on walking in. My companion and I had to shout at each other. Service was not attentive.
Great food. Patient and charismatic service. Lovely place to brunch with friends. Well worth the price point.
Excellent food and service! The waitress was accomodating and the food tasted great.
The food and ambiance were great! It did take awhile initially for our server to take our order but once she did, we got everything in a good amount of time.
As always great food at the smith. The waitress was very rude and made us feel like we were walking on egg shells to ask any questions. She walked away while we were talking to her. Forgot to bring us 3 items we ordered. Needs to be fired.
The restaurant is very nice, the overall ambience was great, a little noisy but probably because it was a crowded hour, all the people in our table said that the food was good, we will be back soon for sure
Easiest 5 star rating I have ever given. The server was amazing. The food fantastic! Everything from the time we walked in to when we walked out was excellent!
It was way too loud inside for my business lunch.
I always go to The Smith and it never disappoints!
The food was good (got the fried chicken), drinks were good and the waiter was knowledgeable about them, which I appreciate. But the restaurant is SO LOUD!! Everything is a hard surface, there’s nothing to mitigate the noise.
Honestly, I don’t know if I’d return despite the good food, drinks, and service because it’s just uncomfortably loud.
At 6:30pm, they ran out of the special of the night. Staff was totally unprepared for a busy night due to traffic from a show at the Capitol one arena. This is a common occurrence... get it together!
Not enough staff at the bar and staff on the floor was sparse.
Food orders took entirely too long. Two different managers intervened and neither seemed to have the same story down.
I will not be going back here again...
Food was good. Waiter was not very attentive. Bus girl took my food before I finished eating. Web site accused me of not showing up for my reservation. Bottom line: plenty of opportunity for improvement,
Great service and atmosphere. Have had dinner here a few times previously, and it was always very good. This time we went for brunch. It was good, but not good enough for the price.
Food was ok. Good standard brunch/lunch place. I got the french toast and it was pretty good. Service was slow, and the restaurant wasn't very crowded, so probably not the best for a quick bite. The environment was pretty loud, since there were a lot of families with young children.
It’s a shame. A decent restaurant that just doesn’t know how to work when busy. We sat down at 830pm and our server didn’t return until 845pm to check on us. The wrong bottle of wine was brought out, and I when I tasted it, I had to double taste as I didn’t like it. The server told me it was a good bottle and we would enjoy it. He walked away and I grabbed the bottle and read the back and realized he brought out the wrong one. At that point I had had enough. We ordered appetizers that were seriously delayed, oysters don’t take more than 5 minutes to shuck. I got up from my seat and told the server calmly that the experience was not acceptable. When I returned from the bathroom, all of the food showed up, apps and dinner. I was not happy. Needless to say, they made it right. But it was made right when the restaurant started to die down after 9pm. Just completely unacceptable. Will never return.
Every dish ordered in our party of five was terrible. Salmon way over cooked, salad had so much dressing that it was soggy and disgusting, burgers ordered medium rare came out well done, and they even messed up a kid’s cheese pizza, which I didn’t know was possible. I’ve eaten here before and the quality seems to be getting worse. Don’t waste your money.
Great restaurant in a great location!
